No matter who the employer is there will always be challenges between management and employees. Management is there solely to fulfill the profit goals of the company and employees are there at the whim of management - - employees are expendable since the CEO's don't give a whit as to how management fulfills the company's profit goals. Even "non-profit" organizations aren't necessarily employee friendly. But I know I'm not telling you and Anne anything you don't already know. Sometimes it can be entertaining to observe the "rise and fall" of managers. But it can also be sooo rewarding to be able to say to a manager "take this job and shove it" because you have found another job. I hope you and Anne will be able to find more suitable employment soon. Please let us know how things go.

Not much happening here today. Got caught up on a couple of emails. Have seen Bonnie and Buster out and about but they haven't come to visit yet today. My lunch is cooking as I'm writing to you. I hope we don't have a power failure like we had last Sunday. Had 20 minutes left to cook and the power went out for 2 hours. Finally got my lunch around 5 p.m. when the power was restored. The condos are on the same power grid as the hospital, and I can't help but wonder if someone at the hospital caused a surge that tripped the transformer. Oh well - - keeps life interesting here.

Hello moon_beam. Cloudy and cool (48) greetings to you. I hope this finds you well and Bonnie and Buster eventually paid you a visit. I also hope you didn't have any more power outs.

Today was even slower than yesterday (average about a call an hour and some of those were commercial accts we can't help) Which was fine because besides Anne and myself, there was only one 8-4:30 person and the acting lead - locally anyway. We both applied to Wageworks on their web site this morning so we'll see how that goes. I'm off tomorrow and Tuesday and Anne Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tang met us at the door when we got home (no waifs in sight, but I did see White Cat at the old place this morning) He's had his supper, shot and treats an is doing well.

Was finally able to start working on Christmas cards today. Have about half of them done and ready to mail the first week in December. Bonnie's and Buster's dad came over a little while ago to put up my flag pole for me, so now all I need is a flag to put on it. Bonnie has come to visit for awhile. She's in her favorite place in my bedroom taking a nap. Not much else happening today. Tomorrow morning the contractor who put in the heat pump will be here to install a thermostat that is easier to read, and tomorrow afternoon I have a dental appointment so I might not be online tomorrow. Just want to let you know. I hope you and your precious Tang are enjoying your time alone together today - - "dad and son bonding time." Been pretty low key here today just me and my boy. He's curled up right now on the freshly washed cover for the bigger couch. Earlier, while Anne was FB texting me on her lunch, he curled up next to me on the smaller sofa. Then proceeded t follow me into the 1/2 bathroom It will be time for his supper, shot and treats before long, but he is doing well. Not to mention cleaning up before Anne gets home. At least I got all the laundry done.

So glad you and your precious Tang had a good "guys only" day yesterday. Hope your, Anne's, and Tang's day today has been a good "family" day.

One of the service reps from the company that installed the heat pump was here early this morning to install a better thermostat - - one that I could actually read and doesn't require a Master's Degree to figure out how to work it. After he left I was able to get some payments scheduled so that they could be credited (or debited - - whatever) to my bank account early next week. Bonnie came to visit and take a nap while the service rep was here, but I had to send her home when I needed to leave to go to my dental appointment. I got back around 3:20 p.m. and she has returned for another visit. She's in her favorite place in my bedroom taking another nap as I'm writing to you. Tomorrow her mom and dad will be on a road trip to PA to pick up their granddaughter to bring her back here for a visit over the Thanksgiving weekend. So I will be checking on their sweet precious companions while they're gone. They're hoping to get back here around 5 p.m. or soon thereafter. I'm looking forward to spending time with their fur tribe tomorrow. The dental appointment went okay. I think they overcharged me for the visit but it will get straightened out with the dental insurance. I'll call the insurance company at some point in time to clarify what the charges are, and perhaps get a reimbursement either from the insurance company or through the dentist's office.

Bonnie's and Buster's mom and dad are in their travels bringing their granddaughter here from PA for Thanksgiving weekend. Have been keeping their fur tribe company over at their home for most of the day. I'm hoping they will be home soon, but am prepared to go back over after I have my lunch if I need to. Both Bonnie and Buster have been playing the "revolving door" routine first wanting out, then wanting in, then wanting out. Buster went back out around 2:30 p.m. or thereabouts, and Bonnie went out as I was getting ready to come back here around 3 p.m.. She went across the common driveway to one of the other units but no one is home there - - the residents there left early this morning to join their adult children at VA Beach for the weekend. So she followed me over here and is settled down on one of the chairs under the dining room table taking a nap. Have been reading the book from the library to keep me occupied, and it's a very good book, too. It's a mystery based on the in's and out's of Wall Street and the rise and fall of a fictional "star" broker / consultant. It's a new author for me and he has a very engaging style. Am keeping the lunch fare simple today - - soup and sandwich.

We had a reasonably pleasant meal at Anne's parents condo with both her sisters, their husbands and kids. I really wish they (well, mostly her twin sister) treated her with more respect though. They seemed to like the deviled eggs I made and the cornbread Anne made at least.

Tang was waiting on us when we got home and he's had his supper. I'll get his shot and treats later. He seems well. I put the evening meal out for the waifs but haven't seen any yet. But at least Dulcinea got first crack at the canned food last night. She seems a little more trusting these days.

Leading up to the holidays people have travel and food on their minds - - waiting until the day after to get caught up on their "to do" lists. Had a good visit with my brother, sister in law, and Scarlet yesterday evening. They were very tired from their day trip to Richmond on Thursday to be with Judy's brother and his family. It's nice only having to drive a mile to their home now instead of a 45 minute trip one way. Bonnie came to visit me for awhile this afternoon. It was raining very heavily so I dried her off with a towel which she appreciated. She had a nice nap in the guest bedroom and then headed back out about a half hour ago. It's clearing up outside now and we may actually see some sunshine before the afternoon is over. The timer on the stove is letting me know my lunch is now ready so will get this off to you.

Sorry I didn't post last night, but we decided to do our shopping after work rather than today and by the time all that was done and we sat down to watch our shows it was after 11:00

That being said, all that had to be done errand wise today besides the other waifs (see below) was Anne running to the Dollar General down the road for a few forgotten items. While she did that, I started the laundry and made brunch with Tang mooching his "fair share" of the sausage

Other than that it's been pretty low key. Tang has had his supper and will get his shot and treats later. He is well. Did a waif run to Tanglewood early today and saw Little Gray and White Cat. No sightings of the locals when I put food out here, but sure they're around.

I do sooooo understand about not always being able to write, but am glad to share your news that all is well in your household. Am also glad you saw a couple of the waifs at the "old place". I know they appreciate your continued provisioning.

Needed to do a few errands today, but got a later start than anticipated as I seemed to be able to sleep in until around 10 a.m. this morning. So it was about 11:15 when I left here to go to the post office and get gas in the car. Since the sun was shining at the temps were in the 50's at that time and the forecast had gusty winds coming in the afternoon time frame I decided I should take advantage of the good weather to take my load of recyclables over to the collection center, along with some special trash items I can't put out for regular weekly collection. So I came back here to load the car, and went to the Town center to dispose of the recyclables. Since it was Noon when I got over there access t the special trash dumpster was closed, so I drove over to the one close to the sheriff's office to dump my special trash items. On the drive over there dark storm clouds were gathering over that part of Town and the wind was just beginning to get on the gusty side. By the time I got back here the wind was really cranking up. Bonnie's and Buster's mom had the garland on their fence so pretty but the gusty wind is just trashing all her decorations blowing the garland and bows all over the place. She was out trying to fix things but the wind was getting more gusty as she was working on it so she has decided to wait until the wind stops blowing to do the repairs. Bonnie is home inside, and Buster may be home now as well from his morning travels. Well the kitchen is timer is letting me know my lunch is now ready so will get this off to you.

Hello moon_beam. Cold (32) with a wintery mix greetings to you. I hope this finds you doing well. Sorry the wind caused you and Bonnie and Buster's mom such grief. I know the feeling though. We had wind last night and I had to recover the plastic entree tray I use for the local waifs from 2 doors down

Work was well, work. We didn't want to go in but remembered seeing from an email that today was a "business critical" day. Which is interesting because neither our manager or the one that interviewed us was there today But that's past and we will get even this week. Anne's day off is tomorrow and mine is supposed to be Wednesday; but they're going to be days off for us both. We got our pay notification today showing all the extra pay for working Friday plus our first performance bonus to the tune of about 1100.00 for each of us (gross) it's usually around 900.00. We did our due diligence this past week and besides Anne got stuck on a call at the last minute and we didn't leave until 8:30.

Have been working today on scheduling a couple of bills for payment, and updating my financial log as well as my log that has all my user name and password information for accessing my accounts - - too many to try to remember anymore. So I'm going to start working on a grocery list as I wait for my lunch to cook and after I get this sent off to you. Neither Bonnie nor Buster have stopped by today, but as I was in the kitchen getting my fish entree in the oven I saw him galloping down the common driveway toward the other side of the road where the duplex style condo units are. He is a very interesting fellow to watch.

Today we slept in somewhat after I gave Tang his shot. We finished watching a movie on You-Tube from the other night and then did our shopping. Before that we checked out the new arcade/bowling alley/restaurant/bar that took over the space of the closed Macy's in the mall. It was pretty big.

It's back to the grind to us tomorrow and extra for Anne as I have Saturday off and she doesn't. She had a guy to trade with her but they screwed that over by asking him to work anyway because they were "short". Yeah, short on purpose because they knew she'd try to trade. We will be so glad to be out of there. Personally I hope they get shut down for one or all of their illegal activities. At least then they'd be forced to pay severance.

Tang has had his supper and will get his shot and treats after my shower. He seems well. Put food out for the local waifs too.

Sorry Anne has to work Saturday. I know it's disappointing not having the same days off, but you and your precious Tang can spend quality "guy time" together, and have dinner ready when Anne gets home - - or take her out for dinner. I hope the both of you have Sunday off together - - that would be nice. I'm wondering if you and Anne have heard anything about your applications for Wageworks yet. From personal experience it always seems to take longer to get a response to job applications around the holidays. Please let us know how things go.

Not much going on here today. Bonnie came for a visit and took a nap in the "princess" guest room. Her mom and dad are doing their weekly grocery shopping. About 2 p.m. she decided she wanted to go home - - but instead she decided to make a visit to other familiar places down toward the wooded area behind her unit. However Buster was at the front door asking to go in so I opened the door for him and he scooted inside. The neighbor across the common driveway learned today that one of their cousins has passed so they are going back to VA Beach Sunday afternoon for the funeral. Both Bonnie's and Buster's mom and I will be taking turns taking care of their canine companion Abigail while they're at the funeral. If there's any good news in this it is that they had a chance to visit with their cousin over the Thanksgiving weekend when they were in VA Beach. I'm looking forward to helping them so that they can go to the funeral and not worry about their precious Abigail. Normally they her with them, but this trip is definitely not a "pleasure" trip.

Nothing from Wageworks yet. And I do work Saturday now. In fact, neither of us will be off until the following Wednesday. On top of that we were pulled into the ops manager's office to get reamed about the days we called in "You said your relationship wouldn't affect your job." Blowhard. I'm pretty sure he was either stoned and/or stupid (he freely announced, rather proudly, to being a "former" addict to our training class.) I say this because my death glare that has literally made people wet themselves didn't phase him. Well, that and the glazed over look in his eyes. So, that's the kind of company it is

On the upside, Tang met us at the door upon our return. He's had supper from a fresh can, his shot and treats. He seems to be doing well.

It's really a sad commentary on how desperate organizations are for management that employees are subjected to verbal abuse. Your and Anne's requests to have the same days off is not - - in my opinion - - an unreasonable one - - particularly when this is known by management when schedules are being made up. And your and Anne's efforts to make sure that the shift is covered by trading with other employees who are more than willing to do so is - - again, in my opinion - - an indication that you and Anne take your responsibility seriously. It appears to me that management is deliberately trying to make it an issue by deliberately scheduling separate days off to have you and Anne "prove" that your working together is not an "issue" - - thus giving them some form of "legality" to confront you about the "unscheduled" days you take off together. Are you and Anne the only couple working for this company? If not, does this company treat the other couples with such disregard when making up their schedules? Is it this company's policy to give separate days off to couples? This would appear to me to be an HR question, if it hasn't already been specifically stated in the employee handbook / regulations. Only you and Anne can decide how you want to handle this - - which includes just biding your time until you can tell them you've got employment elsewhere. Please know you and Anne are in my thoughts and prayers that this latter opportunity will be available to you soon. Please let us know how things go.

Not much happening around here today. Have been enjoying reading the book "The Testament". It's story line is based in the Washington, DC, Northern VA metro area about an attorney - - who is an alcoholic - - with a fictional major legal firm being sent on a mission into the Amazon jungle to find an heiress to a multi billion dollar inheritance that is hers because her father - - who didn't marry her mother - - didn't want to leave his fortune to his three ex-wives and 6 legitimate children who had already wasted their financial fortunes through divorce settlements and trust funds. And so the legal battle to contest his Will has begun while the hunt proceeds for the sole heiress. It's a different kind of "mystery" by John Grisham - - and I'm enjoying it. Neither Bonnie nor Buster have been by to visit, but I did see Buster heading walking down the common driveway toward home a few minutes ago.

Placed an order with WalMart for pickup on Wednesday, 12/5, as that is when all the items are expected to be available. Am using a different WalMart this time - - the one that is close to the Kroger as I will be placing a ClickList order with Kroger and can pick up both items on the same day - - and they're located across the road from each other so it's convenient. Buster came to visit for a few minutes earlier this afternoon. He came in to say "hi" did a walk through to make sure everything was okay and then went on his rounds. Haven't seen Bonnie today - - she's probably staying home today because it's too nasty wet and cold to be outside. Have my lunch cooking as I'm writing to you, so will get this off to you as it will soon be ready.

Today was not bad. Apparently the AC in the site across town where the main server is went out and they had to shut it down. This prevented us from connecting to the main Firstsource site and therefore Excellus (the client) So that meant only their own employees in NY could take calls until about 5:15 PM. Apparently they never took the usual precautions in the server room that one should take when the main AC goes out. Would love to have been able to listen to the conference call with the ops manager and the client. He's running out of people to throw under the bus after all.

We had to stop for a few things at Kroger on the way home so we were a tad late. Tang was a bit miffed but is better now that he's had his supper, shot and treats. He seems well.

Finally printed off my financial calendars and monthly logs for next year today. Figured it was about time for me to start working on getting things lined up. Also spent some time with Abigail today - - a couple of hours earlier this afternoon and a couple of hours earlier this evening. Bonnie's and Buster's mom will go back over after she and her husband have their dinner to spend a couple of hours with her and then bed her down for the night. Abigail hasn't eaten anything today, which isn't particularly worrisome - - it's obvious she's pining for her mom and dad. Thankfully they will be back sometime tomorrow. On my way back here the Border Collie, Jake, was out for an evening walk with his mom and dad. Jake and I played some ball together while I talked to his dad and his mom chatted with one of the other residents. Bonnie came by earlier today and stayed awhile to take a nap in the "princess" guest room. Need to do a couple of chores before settling down for the evening so will get this off to you.

Abigail must have sensed that her mom and dad were close to being home because she finally ate her food about an hour before they got home. I spent a couple of hours with her from about 11:30 a.m. till close to 2 p.m.. I finished "The Testament" - - the ending was a bit on the sad side because the heroine died, but she had made a positive impression on the addicted alcoholic attorney which helped him to give him encouragement to change his behavior for the better. Have another book to start about a librarian / amateur sleuth who has feline companions who help her solve mysteries in their community. The author is a new one for and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Was able to pick up my Kroger and WalMart orders this morning. Kroger didn't have everything I had on my list so I stopped at the Food Lion and picked up the few items remaining. After I got the groceries put away I opened the door on the garage side of the house and there was beautiful Bonnie pacing to and fro in front of the pet door eagerly wanting to visit. She is settled on the day bed in the "princess" room having a nap as I'm writing to you. Have had my lunch and am glad for the resting time. Will do the kitchen clean up after I get this sent to you. Tomorrow I will need to make a trip to the pharmacy to pick up a refill prescription and get my routine blood test for my rheumatologist. Thank goodness I can get that done here in Bedford where I get my infusions now. Thank you for the website for mysteries. I will check that out.

We didn't do much today. Woke up to give Tang his shot and went back to bed. Then woke up later to put on a load of laundry. We went to get some lunch and a few supplies to tide us to the weekend too. But that's about it.

Tang has been good company and has had his supper. I will give him his shot and treats later on. The partitioned tray I used to give the waifs food disappeared last night. Either it blew away or someone threw it away (sigh) We have plenty of the cheap containers our sandwich meat comes in, so I'm using 2 of those now. I think I may have spooked Tweak checking on the provision though.

Got my errands done today and was back home around 12:30 p.m. I called my prescription refill in yesterday to CVS for a pick up time today at 11 a.m.. It wasn't ready, and was informed it might be 30 minutes before it was. So I got the gift cards for family for Christmas and walked around the store a bit and then went to check on the status. Was informed it might be another hour before it's ready. As pleasantly as I could muster I reminded the pharmacy service rep that I had called the refill in yesterday so that it would be ready for pick up. She apologized profusely for the delay and requested a priority for the refill. I could see the pharmacy was slammed with prescriptions and the pharmacist was working as fast as she could to get them filled, so I started taking another walk around the store and within 10 minutes I heard my name announced that my prescription was ready. So it worked out okay. It's good to be back home, and as far as I know I won't need to go back out until next week to the post office to mail a couple of packages. I'm planning on beginning to read the mystery book with the kitty sleuths.

Have been busy working on financials this morning and some computer projects. My brother came by this morning to pick up the snow blower although according to the latest forecast the storm seems to be taking a more southerly track which is diminishing the amount of snow this area is now expected to receive, so he may not need it for this storm - - which suits me just fine. My sister in law will be accompanying me to my next infusion on 12/27 as he will be taking her mom back home that day. So that will give us a "girl's day" together which I'm looking forward to. Neither Bonnie nor Buster have been by to visit yet today, nor did they visit yesterday but that's okay as I know I'll see them at some point in time.

Hello moon_beam. Cloudy and cold (30) I hope this finds you doing well. Sorry I didn't post yesterday. It's been hectic with Anne having to drive her dad's truck while we search for a new battery for her car. I hope Bonnie and Buster come back around soon.

Today we got some lunch and were going to try to find a battery but it was too cold. Instead we stopped at Petsmart on the way home where a non profit org was having a cat adoption day. We met many lovely kitties and I donated a few dollars.

It will be time to tend to Tang soon who is doing well, as well as our local waifs.

I'm glad you were able to find a suitable battery for Anne's car, and that her dad graciously came over to help you get it installed. Sounds like you had a busy weekend with car repairs and errands.

The contractor was here around 11 a.m. with a farm tractor with plow blades on both ends plowing the snow from the common driveways and entrances to the garages. I spoke with my brother around 12:30 p.m. to see how he was doing with the little snow blower. He said it was better than having to shovel but that it wasn't like his neighbor's "super blower" - - which is much larger, more powerful, and self propelled. The snow was wet and heavy, which is another minus for the little snow blower which doesn't handle the wet heavy snow well. But all in all he was glad to have it. Have been working on a few financials and a couple of computer projects today. I saw Bonnie's and Buster's dad outside doing some shoveling. He tells me that Bonnie is out somewhere visiting but Buster is inside. He told me that Bonnie is doing very much better now, which is very good news.

I'm glad to hear Bonnie is doing better (if indeed she is. I tend to wonder and worry about "outside" cats) I hope Buster is well too.

Today was not to bad for call volume. Open enrollment being over and having a few more bodies (what's left of the last training class) helped I guess. Anne's car started right up this morning when I went to warm it up to scrape the windows and sounds good.

Tang met us at the door when we got home which is always nice. He's had his supper, shot and treats and seems to be doing well. Looks like Tweak got first shot at the can food tonight

Did my errand to the post office this morning. There are two handicap parking spaces and only one was functional. Thankfully no one was in the functional space when I arrived. Had a very enjoyable drive back to the condo with the beautiful view of the snow capped mountains. Got caught up on a couple of emails and have finished the book "The Cats Came Back." So I can call the library and let the homebound volunteer know I have two books to return and need two more. Buster came to the door after I got back from the post office but decided he had other places to visit today. Have seen him out and about a couple of times today but haven't seen Bonnie yet. The timer on the stove is letting me know my lunch is now ready so will get this off to you.

So the workplace news is either the ops manager quit or was fired. My money is on the latter. One more red flag that would seem to point to them losing this client and/or shuttering this call center.

Tang met us at the door when we got home which is nice, Anne moved her dad's truck next to her car and texted him he could come get it back when he wants. Tang has had his supper, shots and treats and is doing well. Looks like Butter was the winning waif for the canned food tonight.

So is the ops manager the one who was giving you and Anne grief about having the same days off? If so, I hope the next manager / supervisor will be more gracious when making up the work schedules. Please let us know how things go.

Not much happening here at the condo complex today. Got some receipts organized and filed and got a couple of emails done. Back in November I got some window film to reduce the glare coming in through the storm door on the garage side of the condo - - just when the temps started turning cold. Thought I would work on that project. I went on the product's website and found an article stating it shouldn't be applied when the temps fall below freezing for the curing period of 48 to 72 hours. I'm glad I saw this which means I need to wait until spring to apply the film. That's okay. I guess I could start working on the Christmas cards for the family gathering in a couple of weeks. If it sounds like I'm bored - - I am. Have finished my library books and am waiting to hear from the homebound library volunteer to get more books to read. Haven't seen Bonnie or Buster yet today. It's still early in the afternoon so they may stop by here later on to say hi.

Worked on printing off bank and medical statements today and getting them organized. Was able to reconcile the bank statement with the checkbook so I'm ready to start working on the bill-a-thon for January's payments. Yesterday evening the library volunteer stopped by to drop off 5 books and pick up the 2 I had finished. So I've got plenty to read to keep me occupied - - and from becoming bored. After I wrote to you yesterday I decided to work on the shred box and got that emptied - - which is already collecting things to be shredded eventually. The timer in the kitchen is letting me know my lunch is now ready so will get this off to you.

Just before work at my desk this morning, I had one heck of a dizzy spell that went on for about 10-15 minutes. So Anne took me to the Kroger Little Clinic. While I was waiting to be seen she got supplies, ran them home and came back for me. Turns out my BP was rather elevated. So much for it having been down on my last check up; I'll follow up with Dr. Chary if it persists. Been resting at home since Anne dropped me off and went back to work. Tang's been keeping me company and he seems to be doing well.

I should have taken the NP's advice at the clinic and took another day. Tried to go in but it was not in the cards. We tried to go to the clinic to update my note but it was a 2 hour wait, so we made an appointment for tomorrow before work.

Tang has stayed down on the first floor with me faithfully today and is curled up by the closet near the 1/2 bath as I post this. He seems well.

Bonnie's and Buster's mom mentioned to me yesterday that her steam mop had stopped working, so I offered to give her mine. I'll never use it again - - don't need it here in my unit. The only place I need a steam cleaning device is for the grouted tile shower stall in the master bathroom, and I need a handheld one for that space to get up on the walls. So I took the mop over to her this morning along with the mop heads and instruction manual. She was most appreciative for it, and it's no longer taking up space in here in the limited storage I have. I'll start doing some online window shopping for a hand held steam cleaner at some point in time - - I'm in no rush. Am enjoying reading "What The Fly Saw". Tomorrow I will be spending the day with my brother and sister in law at their invitation so don't know if I'll be able to post. If not I hope you, your precious Tang, and Anne will have a good day tomorrow and will look forward to getting caught up on your news.

They will be going to Greensboro, NC, on Tuesday and staying overnight to bring my nephew home who will arrive from Idaho on Wednesday. So Scarlet will be staying with me beginning Tuesday afternoon and going home either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. I know she will be glad for just the short stay-over. Not much else happening here today.
