I was going through this thread fixing broken links last night..I had moved servers recently, so some pictures were missing because they reside in a different directory..
And notice that this thread is a chronicle of a kitten growing up! In the short time I have had him his weight has more than tripled!

Meow Meow,
I'm a Big Cat Now!

My wife just noticed that he was curled up on a chair and I walked in, and he loked up and rubbed noses with me...She said, "What a LOOK! He ADORES you!

I was flattered. The feeling is mutual.

So strange..I have raised all beautiful Siamese, had Burmese, Bombays, and Tonkinese, plus "Felix Vulgarises" of various types, but sometimes I just like to look at this "Common" little Tuxedo. Just to look a him, he is so special.

OK, I was vulnerable when I met him, but still.... laugh.gif

Does Iggy lick your face or legs? I know doggies will give licks but I never knew cats did. When I pick Lucky up in the morning his head is by my face and he licks my cheek. I put him down and he follows me and while I am fixing his Fancy Feast breakfast, he licks my leg. Is it the salt on the skin? My Little Guy would lick my hand when I petted him. My other 2 never licked. But Lucky does this to my and also my husband..have you heard of this activity and what do you think it is? Is it truly affection as it seems, is it salt, or
.......do we really look like "dinner"? huh.gif

Judy

By the way, that picture of the garbage investigator kitty.....is it the garbage or is it the crackling paper that intrigues?

Iggy licks my face after I eat snacks, so it may be salt...But generally he give me kisses. That is, he rubs noses, and sometimes in an excess of passion, gives my nose a little nip. He gnaws on my fingers. I honestly do not know the motives, but he is always purring when he does these things.

Of course, he usually purrs when he EATS, too. That's worrysome.

*Sigh* It was the food. It's always about food.

He enjoys plastic sandwich bags and likes to wear them as a kind of space helmet. He thinks he can see us but we cannot see him, because he is "in" something. I am breaking him of the habit because I do not want him to suffocate.

They are just such funny litttle clowns, they will not let us brood on our losses.
It has been five months since my CatWife went to the Bridge, but every time it starts to hurt, Iggy senses it.
He looks up at me, and does his little dance, nips my toes, and lays on his back waving his white gloves...what else can I do?
I cannot cry about Miles because if my eyes get wet he licks them.
It's a disgusting sensation, so...No more tears. At least where he can see them.

I have been remiss because of my business becoming busy, thank Heavens.

The word from Iggy is, "Meow, Meow, I'm a big cat now!". Yes, Iggy is growing up and has reached 9 Pounds. His legs are still too long and he resembles a giraffe, so he has a ways to go before reaching his father's 16 pounds.

He has come a long way, and is working on being a dignified cat. We bought him some bowtie collars to go with his Tuxedo Paint job. He has not become enamored of them yet, and we found the last one neatly unbuckled and laid out neatly on the bed, as if it were a trophy. We have no idea how he was able to unbuckle it.

SO, watch him grow up...
Here he is when he came here:Click to view attachment

And here he is today:

This is the first time I have ever taken an effort to record a cat growing up. It is amazing it happens so fast. He has developed some charming little habits and tricks. He has learned to be careful with his claws, and when he wants food, he jumps up and wraps his arms around my leg. At suppertime he brings his toys out and puts on a floor show for us to earn applause and morsels. He enjoys running at and jumping over the othe cats like a porpoise, and "scaring" them by rearing up at full length and waving his arms. They ignore him now.

Iggy comments:

" Do you all realize this jerk WOKE ME UP to take these pictures?!

Yes! I was ASLEEP on my bed, when this fool showed up with a camera, jiggling MY Mousie Toy, looking like an idiot.

OK, OK, I'll play with the damned toy. Where's the FOOD?

Wait till Dawn tomorrow.

We will see how YOU like it. Kiss your feet goodbye.

Jon,

I spent an hour going through your thread on Iggy this afternoon. I just LOVE pink kitty toes! I feel like I really know Iggy and Miles. We do get attached. For the first couple of months after Nickels passed, I kept seeing him out of the corner of my eye. I miss him terribly and guess I always will. It is quite a punch in the stomach when you think they're there and then reality slams you back to earth.

I see Iggy is a car riding kitty too! All my boys have always rode in the car. Frankee is like Iggy in the respect he loves his carrier too. He doesn't mind the vet either. I thought he would after he was fixed but no problem.

I love the Iggy cartoons. I tried to play his early videos but got a message that they were'nt found. I would love to see them, especially after everyones responses. I'll see if I'm smart enough to figure out the video option on my digital camera so I can post some of Frankee and Jasper. I would love to save some of those "first" memories, but alas I'm a child of the 50's and it may take a while to figure it out!

I loved the story of when you went to Pets Mart and the guy that asked, "New Kitten?". I know those marks well. I love playing with Frankee and though he's usually pretty gentle, I'm guilty of really getting him going. I can bring out the "Jaws and Claws" syndrome in him! Here we go again when the new kitten comes home next week! Time to buy extra Neosporin!

I'm including one of my favorite pictures of Frankee and his Dad when Frankee used to love to cuddle. He may just be going through his rebellious pre teen years though I only took over 300 pictures of him before he was 6 months old. I literally wore my camera out and just recently bought another one.

When we first got Frankee he had the worst breath. The vet said his teeth were fine and to keep an eye on him. The bad breath finally went away at about 8 months old. From the beginning Frankee has always craved vegetables so we gave him all that he wanted. His favorite was peas, now it's asparagus. He also loves brussel sprouts and will tear you up for avacodo though I found out it can be fatal, so I have to hide when I eat guacamole or avacado sandwiches. He could care less for chicken or beef, just give him vegetables! The girls no longer get excited when they see him eating something that we eat. They know they're in for a big dissapointment. Oh, Frankee LOVES blue cheese also some types of salad and spinach. Silly boy, vegetables are for rabbits! I'll have to grow catnip for him.

I'll keep checking in on Iggy. He is truly a fascinating and gorgeous kitten! We've all been to the Pet Loss side of this board and it is truly time for New Beginnings. This thread has given me hope when I was deeply depressed over Nickels. I hope it gives hope to others.

Michelle

I just LOVE Iggys white tipped toes! What a surprise when I rounded the corner and saw my precious Jasper for the first time. HE HAS WHITE TIPPED TOES!!! I immediately thought of Iggy and started to cry. There must have been 20 people at Pets Mart in the adoption center. They all looked at me like the crazy cat lady. I'll dignify that with an acceptance speach!

By the way, you and Iggy are such a special addition to the LS family. I've read your story to my DH. He especially loved the story of your calculations on how big Iggy would grow to be!! He also loved the story on how Miles was your Cat Wife. You have such a gift telling kitty stories. You should write a book. I keep looking for your newest Iggy stories.

So glad your posting on New Beginnings!!

Baby teeth being ejected probably. I run into this with Iggy from time to time, since he kisses me on the mouth. (!!) I'm cool with it. I'm straight but not narrow. We love each other. *shrug*

You should talk to him about it though..Cats and dogs are obligate carnivores. Try this line: "Vegetarian- Cherokee for "Poor Hunter". laugh.gif

Iggy likes a bite of Cheddar once in a while, and Blue, if it is Danish, and preferably Rosenberg. I had read that the first Tuxedo cat in North America came off a Norwegian ship, so perhaps his ancestry is from that general region-Though I often suspect these facts are made up to glamorize our friends. Nevertheless, we have a lovely friend who is prepared to give Iggy the Lutefisk Test for the holidays. (And he is more than welcome to it!!)

Now Miles had _CLASS_. She had no interest in Swiss cheese, but would accept a nibble of Cheddar, if it was sharp. Most cheese did not get her excited but she would fight me for Stilton. The Tiffany lady had class.

In growing up we had a little tragedy today. All owners of male cats worry about calcification/ urinary obstruction. Iggy put those fears to rest today. He has forgotten that he has quadrupled in length and often tries to fit in places he remembered hiding as a tiny kitten. As a kitten sometimes he would walk into the litterbox and just go, before turning around.

Today, I looked in horror, and looked around for the COW which surely has strayed inside, as there was a LAKE in front of the litterbox. Upon examination the stream has started On Target, but he backed up a little, because his nose was too close to the inside wall. A bigger liter box tomorrow. I shall have to try to teach him to turn around first. HOW is anyone's guess. Well, he DID have to walk though it and is a pretty smart cat, so maybe he figured it out. He did not look happy. We do have to keep those white feet!
Jon730
So..Guess Who has a nice little padded cat bed I got for him, which he has never used?

IGGY's FAMILY REUNION!

Today was the day I took Iggy to meet his brother and a new litter of nieces and nephew's at the lovely Kitty Lady's house. They all have wonderful dispositions, because they were broughtt up right! laugh.gif

As with all things Cat, it was not exactly what I expected. Iggy seemed to remember the living room where I first met him, but he was confused, and for the first time ever, had stage fright.

Here is his brother, Buck. It was not a joyful reunion, though they were reasonably friendly, and there was no hissing like I had feared, but it seemed to fade into a remote interest. That's OK, we all have disfunctional families!

He just started to this morning! He rarely meows, just merely squeaks.

So this morning Mousie #2 was stuck under a dresser, and he was reaching WAY underneath with his paw, and was ALMOST getting it back out.

I wanted to help, so moved him so I could take out the bottom draw, when he SCREAMED at me, "NOOOOooooo! MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOWWW!!!"

And to his surprise there were THREE mousies there, some practically new! O Joy.

But I was startled to hear his voice. He is starting to talk to himself when he walks around excited, now. "Squeak!" "Yip!", "Eek!".
When he greets me it is a little squeak-But only if he has not seen me in a while.

I just read on Deanna's thread about her new baby, Sasha...that you said some relatives are tired of you talking about Iggy!

I'm glad you will ignore them. WE never get tired of hearing about him or seeing his pictures.

We know the joy he is giving you and it truly is priceless. Here we all truly understand all the pain of our losses, and all the joy of our new friends. We know our special ones will never ever be forgotten and will be missed and loved forever. But we also know the joy in starting a new friendship, unique in its own way.

And............Iggy is certainly "UNIQUE" rolleyes.gif

(Ironic somehow...how some people get upset if we talk "too long" about our lost one and then get upset if we "move on" and talk "too long" about our new friend...so the question that comes to mind is: WHAT do they want us to talk about? and...are they SURE we will enjoy doing that? or does that matter?)

I am afraid it is true!

Last night, he decided to ambush me when I came into his room.
He hid on top of a hamper that was by the door, and when I came in, he JUMPED up to face level and then clung onto my chest.

He does not realize he has gotten so big so quickly, and tries to get into places he remembered as a kitten, and simply does not fit.
He used to be able to jump from one hole in the cat condo to another, but is too long now, and lands on the rug on his back.
He has trouble turning around in the chambers in the cat tower. He got stuck behind the couch. He jumps off the kitchen stools and knocks them over. He's a terror. Getting dressed is an experience. If I have an article of clothing in my hand, he grabs it and fights it just like my Yorkie terrier used to.

We play the "WHEEEEE" game at bedtime. I throw kitty treats, (Wheee!) and he jumps up and catches them..and he can jump higher than my head now.

But he is SO sweet and affectionate I do not mind. We are devoted friends, and once again I have company in my workshop.
He is not The Manager like Miles was...Just a "guy who visits and tries to help out". He has a great little personality.
Sometimes I just like to look at him because his markings and symmetry are so perfect.

OK, I have only met one homely cat in my life-They are all beautiful. The homely one was the white stray, who we were able to reunite with his owner..but he was beautiful inside.

Other than him making his Mousie Toy a full proconsul, and naming it "Incitatus", it did not seem to go to his head.

Mousie (Now Incitatus) lobbied for the "Senatus Consulto" approval, of course.
Politics has always worked like that.

I admit to going overboard with Paint Shop Pro, and will resume regular Cute Pictures for a while, but I have SO MUCH FUN with this cat-even when he is sleeping.

He has been the best medicine for me..because you know I still find Miles fur and toys once in a while. wub.gif
