i would like to extend a big thank you to "moon_beam" for her support for the site during this holiday season. i am so glad the people who find their way here get the help they need. i will be adding her donation to the tally at the beginning of this post, all donations go back to supporting the site and to no-kill shelters and habitats.
here's what she said:

it is a blessing to be able to help support the wonderful Lightning Strike Forum. I wish I could donate more, and more often.
I dedicate my contribution to the honor of the Lightning Strike Forum - - for it's wonderful mission, and for your thoughtfulness and dedication in offering this venue where we can come together for both individual and collective comfort, compassion, encouragement, and hope that cannot be found elsewhere in our lives during the difficult grief adjustment journey to the physical absence of our beloved companions.

big thanks and a Tribble hug to LoveMyMickey for her generous donation.
this is what she wrote: "in memory of our little Mickey on his first year Angel-versary. Thanks again for this forum. I have learned a lot besides getting a lot of support.....God Bless..."
i am glad people get the support they need here, it is one of my main missions in life. the funds will go towards the hosting and domain costs for 2012, and as always, anything leftover goes to charity.
thanks again!

started the day with an email from PayPal that said the L-S site had received a donation. while this helps "keep the lights on" for the site, i will always make sure it is funded and also donate any remaining funds to our local no-kill shelters. it's a great way to help save innocent creatures both large and small. thanks again to LoveMyMickey, blessings for a happy 2013!

just wanted to thank those who have been using the
Lightning-Strike amazon.com link to buy books and more.
over the past 6 months, the amazon.com affiliate program has earned $20.81 for the site! every time you use the link and purchase from amazon, our site gets a few pennies. it adds up! as always, it will go into the "kitty" to help pay site expenses this year. thanks again!

Today the annual site fees for 2013.2014 were paid to the web host in the amount of $238.80 USD.
BIG THANKS to those who supported the site this year! I have updated the donations tally
here.
I do want to emphasize as always that the site will go on as long as I do, with or without donations...it is just too important of a resource for people like us (hopefully i can pass it along to one of my children one day).
With that said, all funds received beyond the site hosting fee (via member donation and through amazon.com affiliate rewards) will go to one or more shelters in the form of funds or supplies. This way, lightning-strike.com can help both pet-lovers in need as well as the animals they love.
To donate, visit our
pet loss donations page.

Big kitty purrs go out to moon_beam for her continued support and help as moderator for our site, which commemorated 20 years online last January. Just a heads up that the website's domain fee ($100) and hosting fees ($350) were paid today through September 2021. There have been no member donations or amazon affiliate purchases made in a long while, but I went ahead and updated the first post in this thread anyway to reflect the zero balances and upcoming due dates.
The site will remain online for 2 more years. But, as a reminder to the remaining few here, we are currently closed to new registrations and the forums will revert to "read-only" as of January 1st 2020.
