Missing Kamikazi
My furbaby's name: Kamikazi
Date of birth unknown estimated age between 3-5 years
Date he came to be with me: August 29 2003
Date he went to the rainbow bridge: May 7 2005

We adopted Kamikazi from the pound. He is a little pomeranian. We chose him because he was so ugly he was cute. His original apperance dubbed him the name "ray dog". He had half of his hair missing and was very shy and reserved..... up until the minute I walked out the front door with him. At that time he started licking me and talking to me. He sat beside me where ever I went. He followed me every where except into the bathroom where that horrible bathtub was that he hated so much.

He would play monster under the blanket with us. He would punce like a cat to attack our hands that were under the covers. He did what we now endearingly call the "kamikazi crawl" where he would drag himself forward draggin his back legs behind him. He loved to sit in this little baby pouch that I carried him everywhere in. He had his very own car seat that he would sit in and look out the window at the world around him as we drove.

With this dog there was never a need for q-tips. If you could get your face close enough to him he would launch a lick attack on your ears. He was always quiet in the house. But when we brought him out for his walks he wanted to let the world know he was there.

He got his name one day when he got out of the car at my moms house and I was gathering things in the car. I hear Kamikazi barking at something. I look up and see this full grown black lab running toward my little 5 lb dog. At that time we though the name Kamikazi fit him so well. It stuck. He even went after a horse one day.

He thought the world was his. We spoiled him so much. Anything he wanted ... he got. He had a little stuffed kitty that he would chew on. He thought he was so ferocious. He would toss the kitty up in the air and run after it.... finally he would settle with it in one place and just chew on it for hours. If you could manage to get it away from him it was a sopping wet pile of fabric.

He would sleep on my pillow next to my head during the summer and in the winter, he would burrow under the blankets to lay by my side. He was always very free with his kisses. Always the obiediant dog we would open the door to leave... and could walk outside with the door wide open, and he would wait for us to invite him to go along with him to go along with us before he would even take a step towards the door.

He was so pampered he was hand feed his kibble one peice at a time. We brought him on business trips and vacations. IF he was not welcome where we were going... we just would not go there.

We would bring him to the gym where my husband works and he would go from child to child launching a lick attack while they were doing their conditioning. Everybody loved him. It got to the point that the few times I showed up without him, people were asking about him and missing him. He became our unofficial team mascot.

Always the cuddle baby he was never far from me. If I was in the kitchen, he was on in the doorway waiting for me. If I was on the couch he would climb up me until I got the message he wanted to be held. When he played with us his growl sounded more like a rabid chipmunk than a dog.

He would eat anything that was not quick enough to get out of his way first. This was funny, but unfortunatley lead to his untimely death. He got into a garbage sack I had on the floor and ate some chicken bones. He was not symptomatic until almost 14 hours later. From the moment he showed signs of not being well... to the moment he passed away was only about 2 and one half hours. I only mention this so that other dog owners can learn from my mistake. If I had taken the extra one minute it would have taken to bring chicken bones outside to the trash Kamikazi would still be with me today. Please learn from my gross misjudgement and bring your dog to the vet immediately if they eat any cooked bones. It could really mean the difference between life and death

When he passed on yesterday it was much to early. Only being 4 years old he was robbed of so much time. He left this earth much too early and will be thought of daily for the rest of my life. He as like my child. He leaves behind a "sister" dog sibling, Cinnamon, and three cat siblings, Boots, Smokey and Tigger. His mommy and daddy miss him so much

He has left us with a huge part of our lives missing. Another dog may some day fill our home but could never take his place in my heart. I hope one day we will be reunited together to spend the rest of our lives just playing in the sun.

Sorry that i rambled on so long... Just want to remember every last thing about him from the feel of his fur ... to the sound of his voice. Even to the awful smell of his breath and the way he seemed to walk sideways like he was a car in serious need of an alignment. I only have two pictures of him since we adopted him. We always thought there would be more time. He left so suddenly. I feel so guilty and robbed.

My furbaby: Felix
Born: approx. May 16, 2003 (I wish I could remember the exact date)
Died: May 3, 2005
Came into my life: the moment he was born.
Nicknames: Feel, Lex, Lixy, Felixity, Fatty, Belly, Feelybutts, Wix, etc.
Favorite activities: Playing fetch with his bouncy ball- the kind you get from the gumball machines (he bought it back to me every time!), sleeping next to me while I read in bed, laying in his spot at the top of the cat tree, having his belly rubbed, being brushed for long periods of time, chasing around his lil brother Eben.

When the kittens were born, I had no intention of keeping any them- I already had two cats, but Felix as a tiny little man used to crawl up onto my bed and snuggle next to me. How could I resist that? I absolutely fell in love with him and I was his mama from that day on.

Hi I think it's great that there is a site like this. I thought at first I was going crazy. I would be just do simple little things then for no reason at all I just started crying and haven't stopped. I lost the the love of my life on April 15, 2005. His name was Boscoe. I was running him in an enclosed area and he climb under the fence and deceided to see what the commotion was at the end of the block. I was five minutes behind him. But by the time I got down there it was too late. They beaten with a 10ft metal pipe and cut his neck on the right with a snow shovel. At first I wasn't aware that anything was wrong. I saw him and he was standing by a house looking up at someone in a window. I called him he saw me he came at sat him self down on the corner around the fence and faced back toward the house that I couldn't see he had been hurt. I went to hook him up on the leash and thats when the blood had gotten all over my hand. He just smiled at me with look he always gave when he had done something wrong. I had his partner Zena with me. I hooked up on the fence and ran down the block screamming at he the top of my lungs Helpme Helpme someone just shot my dog. Finally someone came outside to see if they could assit me. I said call the police someone shot my dog. I need to get an ambulance for him he needs to go to the hospital. The police came , useless as always they refused to call anyone or any thing for me. Well my Boscoe was a brave boy . I turned and I looked at him, he was saying good bye to Zena Kissing her softly and then he got up and moved a few feet away for her. He was just laying there so patiently. I went over to him and knelt over him and prayed to Jesus to keep him safe. I love you I said : Well be together always petting him and loving on him he tried to stand up but he couldn't. He had suffered internal injuries and probally puntured his lung and had broken ribs and his right eye was popping out, and then he started gassping for air. I thought he was choking on his toque so I opened is mouth to clear and air way. But it was too late the blood started pouring out of nose. I told him again my loves you and well be together forever he wagged his tail fast and hard and then he was gone. I stood up with all the on lookers around me and the police doing nothing I sreamed what is the world coming to : To take the life of a helpless defenseless animal. Everyone ran into the homes. The next quite a few of the fells asked about him, but as always no-one knows anything about what happened. Well that's how the love of my life passed away. There hasn't been a moment or nothing where I haven't found my self just crying missing My beautiful boscoe baby. He was a mixed dog. That stole my heart. He ran on the street and survived for a year. Even made it through a long winter. What was he I'm not sure the vet to me he was a rott/shepherd mix. He had such a way about him. He loved life and wanted always have fun and run off the leash. I'll have write more about his personality later. But thank for letting me a have a place to tell my story. Tina

QorquisDad
My furbaby was a female Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Her name was Qorqui (pronounced like Corky)
Qorqui was born August 1st, 2003
She passed on March 2nd, 2005 (1 year 7 months old)
Her nicknames were: Baby Puppy, BeBe, Sweetie, Puppy, Dorkie, Dorkie Dog, Kiddo
Her favorite activities were chasing Shelby while Shelby chased the laser pointer, playing catch, any kind of rough-housing, and chill'in with Dad

Around Thanksgiving of 2003 our daughter decided to get her husband a puppy for Christmas. She was poking around the pet shops and spotted the funniest looking little bat-eared no tail puppy she'd ever seen. She knew that it wasn't the dog she was looking for, but couldn't resist taking me over there the next day to see it anyway. We talked with the folks in the shop about this funny little pup, learned that she was a Welsh Corgi like the Queen Mother raises, and had a visit with her in the play room where she pee'd on the floor from the excitement. Although I felt an immediate connection to this little one, we had just gotten a Sheltie puppy (Shelby) from the same shop for our son, our daughter was looking for more of a hunting dog, and we really weren't ready for another puppy so soon. So we thought that would be that.

The next day we needed to go in to the shop to pick up Shelby’s AKC papers and I thought I'd show my wife this funny looking puppy my daughter and I had seen the day before. Again, we did the play room thing and to my surprise, my wife couldn't leave the store without her.

For about a week we tried to figure out what to name her. We tried all the normal doggie names and nothing seemed to fit. Meanwhile little bat-ears was busy discovering the world with all the wonderment I'd ever seen. Everything was new and just had to be tasted. Right away she figured out how to "pick a fight" with Shelby then act like the innocent victim. She was a little trouble maker from the beginning, and she never did manage to work out that coordination thing. When she would run to jump on the bed, she could never get the timing right. She'd almost always run, jump, slam into the side of the bed, then back up and try it again until she made it. The best she ever got at it was two tries. When she would pick at Shelby, Shelby would chase her all over the house. When she needed a break, she'd stick her head under one of the dining room chairs and Shelby would instantly stop chasing her and wander around the house like she couldn't figure out where Qorqui went. All the while, Qorqui was in plain sight! We laughed until our sides hurt.

After calling her puppy for a week, we decided that we had to figure out a name for this "quirky" little thing. Hmmm... Quirky? Corky. Hmmm... Still too normal... Qorqui? That's it!

She was never big on taking orders. Even after obedience training she'd pretty much casually stroll on over when you called her... unless there was something special in it for her. She was the most independent dog I'd ever known. In fact, her attitude was more that of a cat than any other dog I'd ever met.

Although she was technically my wife’s dog, she attached to me, and I attached to her. She was my best friend and my comforter. She was always there when no one else was. Always ready with kisses or for a game of ball, or a wrestling match, or just lay around and watch TV.

Even though we had less than a year and a half together, our bond was the strongest I've ever felt. I know we were connected in a way that I will never feel again with another pet.

Bye for now BeBe, Daddy loves you and misses you! I hope and pray that we will be back together again some day.

My furbabies name is Freeway.
He was born in July, 1994.
We got him at 3 weeks old as his momma died giving birth.
Freeway died on March 30th, 2005.
Freeway was a beautiful mixed breed, mostly terrier, ##er spaniel, and poodle. He was black with little tuffs of white here and there. I will post a picture once I get one on my computer.
His favorite activity was tug of war, and chewing on his little squeeky dog. In his whole 10 years he never chewed on anything he shouldn't have, other than a pair of my dad's shoes with tassels on it.. he ate the tassels and left the shoes alone. He was spoiled as all good dogs should be, and loved pig ears the most.
He was faithful and strong, and very protective. Just the word "ouch" and he'd come running to make sure no one got hurt.
Most of all, Freeway was my loving companion when I felt I had no one. Every single second spent without him is painful. He will never be forgotten.
Janet
My cats name was furball, she was a 12 year old siamese. We got her at 6 weeks old, just like a typical siamese she was very ornary. If she slept in the garage at night when i got up in the morning she would be at the back screen door when i opened the blinds. She would come limping in (she had arthritis) and go straight to the kitchen for food. Even though she had food in the garage. She couldn't climb onto the counter herself so she would cry and cry until we lifted her up to eat. She had a cute thing that she did. If you put your face near hers she would lick your nose, and keep licking it until you pulled away. She had the loudest purr. I will miss her forever.
My dogs name was Brandy she was a 13 year old Australian Shepherd. When we got her at 6 weeks old she was a bundle of fur. She loved to go hiking in the hills with my husband. Sometimes he took our other two dogs and sometimes it was just him and Brandy. She was such an intelligent dog and had so much energy. She loved to chase after the ball in the back yard. If you left the house for even five minutes when you came back she would greet you like you had been gone forever. Sleep peacefully both of you, until i see you again. I love and miss you so very much.
babooshka
My beautiful cat's name was Babooshka, and I'd had her since she was about 8 1/2 weeks old. I knew she was mine when she pooped on me on the way home. Babooshka definitely had a mind of her own! We were both very stubborn, and she really only liked me and my husband (she approved of him before we married! happy.gif ). My mom developed breast cancer last year, and we felt that Babooshka sensed that, for when they were visiting, Babooshka stayed close to my mom.

About 3 weeks ago, I noticed Babooshka wasn't getting up to greet me like she used to. She also wasn't eating her dry food. I took her to the vet, and the vet believed she'd developed a tumor in her mouth (Babooshka wouldn't let her check her mouth, and they couldn't do any blood work). I made the painful decision to have Babooshka put to sleep, and she went out growling! Babooshka would have been 18 years next month, and I swear I miss her more and more each day. I had her cremated and will get a locket so I can keep my beautiful girl close to me. I also have my favorite picture of her with me at work so I can look into her beautiful face. I feel that a part of me died with my sweet girl.

Our beloved furbaby was named Garfield. Mom loves Garfield and he was orange so he was named Garfield. He was born in our home in 1996 and passed in Mom's loving arms on July 4, 2005 at 1:44 am. He was a polydactyl or Hemmingway cat. His extra toes made his front paws resemble boxing gloves. He was the sweetest cat. He loved to sleep, high places and having his feet rubbed. We used to play "hop up". We could go up to him, pat our chest, and say "hop up' and he would stand on his back feet and put his big front paws on your chest. Mom affectionately called him her "big ol' baby". We love you and miss you deeply. Good night sweet prince and may flights of angels take thee to thy rest.

Name: Shaun. Classic brown tabby Maine Coon
Show name: Pawsntail Maine Road Boy
NIcknames: Our little lion, little teddy lion, Shauny boy, Twm Sion Cati (we got this from a Welsh soap opera!)
Born: 3rd March 2003
Came into our lives: Shaun was in our hearts the minute we set eyes on him - he was about 4 weeks old. He came to live with us on 26th May 2003.
Died tragically: 5th July 2005

We had 3 cats when we got Shaun, but he remained very much our baby - and particularly my husband's baby.
Within a week of collecting him he developed a medical problem, and our vet thought he may have megacolon. He advised us to think carefully about keeping Shaun. I phoned the breeder and told her; she said "I think I owe you another kitten if you want to bring Shaun back." No way! He was with us for ever. I remember that the Shania Twain song was in the charts, and I used to sing to him "I'm keeping you forever and for always".

With homeopathic treatment, Shaun got better. He grew into the most beautiful, stunning cat I've ever seen. Everyone who saw him used to say "WOW!!!" It was a pleasure just to see him in our garden, his gorgeous golden fur glowing in the sun. He used to lie with us purring and flexing his huge paws. He also loved sleeping in uncomfortable places - especially boxes that were too small for him!

In February 2005 Shaun developed swollen lymph nodes. The vet feared that he may have lymphoma, took a biopsy and told me to prepare for the worst. We were devastated at the possibility of losing him. We hugged him and hoped and wished so hard. A few days later the vet phoned - it wasn't lymphoma. We didn't know what it was, but it seemed that we were given more precious time. We didn't know that it would only be a few months.

On Tuesday 5th July 2005 he was not there for breakfast. I took my daughter to school and decided to look for Shaun when I came back. When I got home, my husband was in the living room, and he told me that Shaun was dead. He had been hit by a car. Pete found him on the side of the road and carried his body back to our garden.

Well, readers, you all know this pain. You've felt those knives. I know from experience that one day I'll stop crying.

Goodnight, my little teddy lion. You brought us thousands of precious moments. Stay near and comfort us, Shaun, we need you and always will.
Your loving mummy and daddy, Jules and Pete.

Died July 27, 2005 of an inoperable heart defect that was never detected at any vet visit
Nickname Stewie Stewat jr.
Favorite thing to do Tug of war with pig toy that made noise, play under the covers in my bed and watch Nascar races with me on sundays (well I enjoyed it more then him).
My family and I are big Nascar fans(hence Stewart named for Tony Stewart) I would put on his black and orange bandana every sunday and watch the race with him.

Though he was with us just a short time he was our baby and will be in our hearts forever.

Thank you for this thread. It is so nice to learn about everyone else's wonderful furbabies. Also, I feel like I will always think of him with a smile on my face when I come to this thread again. GREAT idea

A wonderful idea!!

My Furbaby:

Name: Dexter
Date of Birth: April 17th, 1999
Date of Death: Murdered August 17th, 2004
Nicknames: Dekkie Boy, Decker, Big Mouth, Dexter Man
Favorite/Funny Things: He would run in from outside and grab as many Ol Roy "dinner rounds" in his little mouth as he could (6 was his record!) Whenever we would leave, even for a little bit, he would greet us at the door with an "offering" something, anything he could get in his mouth. Various offerings: the toilet brush, a bra, underwear, a 200$ deck of antique cards, the cat (twice), his mother, and my favorite; we brought home a couple my husband worked with for dinner and Dexter met us at the door with my daughter's bag of Kotex!
Least Favorite Things: Ciarra (the little demon child down the road) riding in a car (he got car sick) baths/water and the vacuum cleaner.

This is a lovely idea

My Furbaby: a long haired black (non colourpoint himalayan)

Name: Zody
Date of Birth: February 22, 1987
Date of Death: August 20, 2003
Nicknames: Zoed, Bodhi Wodhi, Pumpkin, handsome boy
Favorite/Funny Things: Would lovingly bite my hand, then lick it as if to say 'you belong to me and I love you). Would steal little red felt santa clauses off the tree, happily drool them into soggy lumps and then bounce around them like a rubber ball. Gave the most wonderful hugs, his big furry arms around my neck, his hind legs around my waist - then purr in my ear. After we tried to catch one of the other cats who effortlessly evaded us, Zody got annoyed, pounced on her and sat on her till we got her. He was an excellent guard cat and he was a quiet steady peacefull presence in my house, unless of course it got too close to dinner time. I also loved his kinky tail that curled over his back like a corkskrew and his little vampire fangs that made him look downright scarey at times. I also adored how much you loved your silver shaded 'girlfriend" Nymph who is still with me, even though the two of you were both fixed, you still 'mated' up to a year before your death.
Least Favorite Things: Trying to comb hair mats out of his tummy - literally needed steel gloves for that job as he transformed into an bad tempered panther.

I miss you Zody, you will always be with me. wub.gif

My Furbaby: a small shaded golden persian girl

Name: Spicey
Date of Birth: July 18, 1989
Date of Death: August 17, 2005
Nicknames: Little Sweetness, Spiceball, Monkey, Pumpkin

Favorite/Funny Things: Would bat around cats twice her size without an ounce of fear. Would have a complete hissy fit if someone tried to steal or come anywhere near a new catnip toy of hers. Would bless me if I sneezed by making a cute little chirpy meow. Would kiss the tip of my nose. Would curl her little paw around my finger as is she was holding my hand. She had an incredible adventurous spirit and aside from ceiling fans was virtually fearless. Never bit or scratched when being combed, was always very gentle.

Least Favorite Things: Ceiling fans were scarey. Not being the centre of attention and then going to pee somewhere inappropriate to turn the attention back on herself.

I miss you my little Spicey, you will always be with me. wub.gif

Gingergirl
Ginger. 4 years old.
Died on 8-10-05 Sudden cancer

Favorite things: Walks, camping, parties, soft stuffy toys, other dogs and cats, babies, fireworks.

Dislikes: Baths, People pulling on her floppy ears, loud music from any live band, And, she'd get quite offended if anyone talked about her.

Special trait: Ginger only knew the word kiss in french. "Bisous Bisous" and you'd get a kiss.

When Ginger was 7 months old, just 2 weeks after she was spayed, she was hit by a car and nearly died. Lost half her spleen, broke her front leg, and had massive internal injuries. Her love for me was her will to recover. It was the broken leg that became eaten with cancer and killed her in the end.

Issues: Ginger lived most of her life in so much pain, yet was cared for with so much love that she'd never even been swatted with a newspaper. Because of her pain, she was super sensitive to everyone elses pain. She had "issues" as we called it. She would sulk in a corner for ages if I was working or too busy to play. She'd get seriously depressed over the smallest thing. She never got into any trouble. No garbage stealing, excessive barking, you could leave a pizza on the coffee table and she'd guard it, but she wouldn't touch it.

Of all the smart and sweet dogs I've ever met, I've not met one with the sensitivity and intelligence that Ginger had. Had she been healthy, she could have been a therapy dog. I would pretend to lay on the ground needing help to get up. She'd stand by my side, her sore crooked legs locked to hold my weight. I'd pretend I was using her to get up and praise her with "Yea!!! Ginger can help people"!! We'd do this over and over and she would smile and wag her tail like crazy. She looked so proud of herself.

She played football too. She'd always get the ball past me and drop it in the basket and I'd yell "Touch down"!

I will always love this dog. If it's true that your pets will greet you when you die, I'm no longer afraid to pass on myself as I know my precious Ginger will be there to meet me with healthy limbs and her big goofy smile.

OP here. I'm just astounded by how this thread has grown. I'm glad that our furbabies live on here. I just read up on all the new ones on here. I'm so sorry that all of you lost your special friends. I guess my Luba has a lot more company now!
I wish you all healing, and that you reach the state of peace that comes with time (sometimes a lot of time) after a death.

In remembrance of Ruby

Five years ago my precious girl departed from this world to the realm of spirit.
Five years ago, in grief, I found this message board and found comfort here.

I know now that love cannot die and the Ruby is with me still and for always.

Thanks to all who share here.

BogiesMom
My Sweet Bogie: Thank you my baby boy for giving daddy and I close to 10 magical years with you. We miss you so much and love you with all our hearts. Rest in peace my beloved and greatly missed boy.

Born: 10-26-95 We got him at 8 wks old. Just the cutest little handful of blonde fur.

Died 9-8-05 after a 2 day illness resulting in a diagnosis of multiple organ inoperable cancer.

Favortite nicknames: Mommy's little boy, Daddy's big boy, Bogieboy, my little peanut, to name a few.

His favorite activities: Pleasing his mommy and daddy was THE single most important thing to Bogie. Watching his squirrel friends out the window, then running like crazy to chase them away. Going for a ride in the car. Going to see his girlfriend, Lady (black ##er that died 2 yrs ago). He just loved being WITH us. It didn't matter what we were doing, as long as it was together.

(I have tried attaching his picture several times and it says 'you cannot upload this kind of a file'. If anyone has the time and patience to offer any suggestions to help me, I would surely appreciate that.) He's such a beautiful boy, I'd love to share his pic.

bogiesmom, files cannot have spaces in their names, and the extension (jpg, gif, doc, etc.) needs to be in lowercase for the software to find the attachments acceptable. i have inserted what you sent into your post above smile.gif
