For the past couple of days every time Snookie takes her insulin shot she has throw up everything she ate. Last night was the worst, within 2 hours after she had her shot she threw up everything she had eaten and she started shaking so hard, her little body was so cold. Then her legs collasped right out from under her, she fell to the floor even though I was trying to hold her up.

I fell on my knees and enveloped her in my arms all the while calling her name but got no response from her. I started crying and screaming her name my husband and daughter came running. It was one of those rare nights when our middle daughter was spending the night with my husband and I.

My daughter took quick action and ran and got the Karo syrup ready for Snookie. It brought her around enough for her to cast her eyes upon me and it looked like she was asking what happened to her and couldn't I please make it better. I tried to remain calm so I could give as much comfort my little Snookie Cookie as I could.

By that time i heard my husband crying and turned to look at him, there he was his hands on his face with his shoulders shaking from the crying. God how I love that man even after 4 children, 6 grand kids and 30 years of marriage. He has such a kind loving heart so filled with love and compassion.

When I got her to the vet he said that Snookie was hppersensitive to the insulin that I am not to give her anymore until Sunday and even then to give her only 1 unit of the Humullin L u 100 insulin twice that day and then to call him Monday. It was taking her sugar down to nothing and she was almost in a coma.

I don't know how much more my little girl can stand, she has fought so hard to stay upon this earth and every setback she has causes me great fear. At least I was able to bring her home and that's the best Christmas gift I have ever received and am so thankful for.

Ann,

I am so sorry you are experiencing this with Snookie. I wish this wouldn't happen to any of our furry loved ones. I do hope that your experience was isolated and that you and your vet can find exactly what Ms. Cookie needs!

My love to you and your husband,

Oh my what a tramitic night, I can almost feel the love you have for your husband, I am so glad you have him to go through this with you. My heart just breaks for you and Snookie, it sounded like they just have to adjust the meds? Ah sweetie, I know how difficult this all must be for you, it has been a very long journey for you, please give an update as soon as you can, I am anxious to know how she is doing today. I'm glad Snook is home for Christmas with her family. And when the time comes for you to give her back to Father, ask him to give him to your mom to watch until you arrive, I prayed that and I had the dream of Moose and my dad, he had brought him to my front door, I never dream....so I beleive that Father gave Moose to my dad, and they are all part of me waiting for me to join them. Love, Pamela

Ann,

Being a diabetic myself I am very familiar with insulin shock. I don't know the whole story but maybe you can fill me in. How long has she been on insulin? Did she just change insulins? I've been following the story of a pug who was rescued and needed to be put on insulin. When she was rescued, she weighed only 5 lbs (she should have weighed at least 15 lbs.) She also had no muscle mass whatsoever. She also has some sort of pancreatic problem which wasn't allowing her to absorb the nutrients from her food. Anyway, often times the animals need to be monitored daily by the vet until they can be stabilized. I don't know if vet's charge you because you have to bring the animal in daily. Here is the link to the pug's story if you are interested. The first link has the most recent update on Angel's condition, about half way down the page. The 2nd link is Angel's full story. Best of luck in getting Snookie regulated. It is hard watching those we love in a helpless state. Remember that given enough time, Snookie will be stabilized. I know that doesn't make it any easier for you and your husband, but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Ann dear, It breaks my heart to read what you all went through today. I am so so sorry. Your poor wee baby, she is so much in my thoughts. I look at her little picture and weep. I pray a healing angel may pass over her with love.
and I hope she is able to stay well for you and your dear and caring husband and for herself over Christmas.
Ann ... words can't express what I feel for you and Snookie tonight, but please do know that you are both in my thoughts and prayers.

With love
jilly
