If at first you don't succeed...
My vet told me that my chicken had cancer of the kidney and there is nothing that can be done about it. It is causing her great discomfort so I have sought out other means of treatment for her, such as homeopathic treatments, herbal remedies, and holistic approaches. I'm not going to stop until my baby can walk without a limp.

Hi comebackscott. I think it's wonderful that you're trying to help your chicken, they are often over looked as companions. There is a lady up the street from me who has 5 gorgeous chickens. Her house is a favorite stop of mine on my morning dog walk smile.gif

As for homeopathic treatments, when my dog Winnie was first diagnosed with cancer, I opted out of chemo because she was so old and I thought it would do more harm than good (emotionally), so I sought out homeopathic treatments. The one that I tried for awhile was a combination of cottage cheese and flaxseed oil. Flaxseed oil has a fatty acid that mammals, birds and humans can't produce (Omega 3 fatty acid). That acid is supposed to be a powerful cancer fighter. Winnie did seem to do better on it, but she didn't like the way it tasted. After awhile it became a battle of wills just to get her to eat it, so I finally gave up and just let her eat whatever she wanted to eat. Here is a link to the website where I first found out about it:

I can't say that it will cure your chicken, but it can't hurt!

Kelly

P.S. What's your chicken's name?

They say that we can all do Reiki healing and I tried it on Ian on holiday a couple of weeks ago as his jaw was hurting and couldn’t open it very wide and it worked.

Relax and breath deeply and slowly, try and empty your mind if you must think then think about the person/pet your doing Reiki on or think about the area you need help with if you are doing it on yourself.
But for best results try not to think at all, or visualise the colour red.

Then just place your hands on the head or shoulders of the pet, or your belly if doing it to yourself and lying down.

Say ‘Chakras on’

When you have finished say ‘Chakras off’ DO NOT forget to say Chakras off or you will be walking around all day healing others and draining your own energies.

This is a basic explanation the Chakras are points in your body which when activated by your mind are very healing. The key to success is learning to relax and meditate.

For a better knowledge of what you are doing and how to protect yourself and ground yourself when finished, buy a book on Reiki healing.

Its free and can do no harm so why not try it and see.

dear kelly,
I'll give your remedy a try, like you said, it can't hurt.
Onion is doing very well after 3 weeks on Noni juice. Her plumage is shiny and she seems perky and may even be limping
less. It may only be wishful thinking, but I really think this herbal remedy is doing something to her.
dear Sue,
I know someone who does Reiki on people. I'll ask her if she can do my chicken. I don't know if I'm suited for doing that kind of treatment for her because I'm not very spiritual or balanced. But thank you for reminding me, it's worth a try. How is your dog doing?

Dear Annica,

I lost my dogs December and March, as you know it’s a long hard process but I'm getting there – then I'm not – but on the whole I am.

Dear Sue,
My heart goes out to you and Jude and Sadie. I have ups and downs still, over Scott and my other tragic losses which
I have named "The Five", because I lost five horses in five months, all under unpleasant cir%%stances. Two days ago I
found a kitten that had been hit by a car, I immediately fell in love with her. I took her to the vet, she was
convulsing. She didn't make it thru the night. I lit a candle for her after the vet broke the news to me. I had already picked out a name for her, she was a Gem.
And honestly, I cannot see another dead animal. I usually buried mine so I could visit there memorial site.
But from now on, I'll pay the vets to take care of disposal because I will lose my mind if I see another dead one.
That's what I unfortunately had to do for the kitten, poor little girl-she was so beautiful, why didn't I just put her down, she suffered for 3 more hours.
It seems as though I am destined to view the departures of animals these days. If they are not my own they are bound to show up from some other source.
I don't know what Kiwi would do if I lost Onion, they are inseparable. I will not take no for an answer.
If the vet can't fix her, than maybe someone else will. She is doing better on the Noni juice, but I really want to get
her on Iscador or Mistletoe Lectins. I've studied homeopathy
and believe that it works, I even use it myself.
Still trying to find a vetrinarian who can prescribe some for her. She's so thin. I want to help her, even if it takes months to treat her.
If I can restore her to good health, than I have done my duty as a responsible pet owner.

Any other cancer therapies y'all know out there?

I am sorry about your chicken. There is not many treatment for birds.

May your memories comfort you.
