Our beloved Siamese mix Fred went to Rainbow Bridge at 6:10 am on Christmas Eve morning. He had been to the vet to be neutered a week earlier. He was taken to an emergency vet Sunday night and again Monday morning. His breathing was very labored. The vet gave him a shot and said it was a respiratory infection and would have to run it's course. Two days later he died. On December 23 of 2013 I lost my Dad and now this. I will observe Christmas because of my Catholic faith, but there will be little celebration. He left paw prints on our hearts.

Hi, slbrock, please permit me to offer you my sincerest sympathies in the physical loss of your beloved Fred. Losing a companion is never easy regardless of the circumstances or how long we are blessed with the privilege of their company. Losing a companion so young and so unexpectedly intensifies the grief.

As you know this grief journey is one of the most painful experiences you will know on this side of eternity. It is a journey that can only be traveled one day at a time, sometimes one moment at a time because you are now enduring the painful adjustment to your daily routines with memories that include this time yesterday, last week, last month, last year to endure.

I can relate to how you are feeling with the additional grief journey in the physical loss of your dad. Our companions give to us their comforting support when our hearts are sad, and when they precede us to the angels - - particularly so soon after another loss - - the sorrow can be unbearable. The good news is that love is eternal - - it is not restricted to the physical laws of time and space. Your beloved Fred's and your dad's sweet Living Spirits continue to share your earthly journey as they always have and always will for they are always and forever a part of your heart and memories - - they are always and forever a heartbeat close to you.

SLBrock, I know all too well when our hearts are entrenched in deep grief there are no adequate words in any language that can soothe the searing pain of sorrow. Still I hope the words I share with you will offer you some measure of comfort, support, encouragement, and hope as you travel your grief adjustment journey.

Thank you so very much for honoring us in sharing your beloved Fred with us, and his pictures - - he is soo adorable. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and please let us know how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,

That's a beautiful cat.

It's terrible when losses fall on holidays. My mother's mother died on Valentine's Day, and she never celebrated it again. It takes the joy out of the occasion.

Sending you my most heartfelt sympathies!!!!

Thinking of you today as you continue to deal with this intense grief.

As Moon Beam said, Fred and your Dad are with you even now--just not physically.

Fred knows how much you love him. And love surpasses everything, even the physical absence of the loved one. We are so limited by time and space - but Fred isn't.

Let us know how you are doing!

All the best to you. Sending prayers of peace,

Kathy
