It has been several years since I posted here. My last Bridge arrival was in 2007 but on October 23 my Bridgette, a black poodle and on October 25 my Speedy a standard dachshund both crossed over. I had Bridgette for 9 years. She was a rescue from a puppy mill and she had been a puppy mom. She was believed to be 7 to 10 years old when I got her so she lived to be 16 to 19 years old. It still hurts not having her here she was such a sweet gentle girl.

My Speedy was a rescued three legged dachshund and was the best laid back dog you could ever ask for. I got him a little over 12 years ago and we knew he was 3 years old when we got him. He had a stroke and I believe Bridgette had an Addison's disease crises.

I miss them. I know they both were old but it still hurts so.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. Losing them so close together is devastating. I can only say thank you, on behalf of all animal lovers, for giving such deserving babies a home and so much love. They were very lucky to have you and I'm sure they knew it.

Hi, Ealan, please permit me to add my sincerest sympathies in the physical losses of your beloved Bridgette and Speedy. Losing a companion is never easy regardless of the circumstances or how long we are blessed with the privilege of their company. Losing two companions in a short period of time intensifies our grief. And losing our companions so close to the holidays can be exceptionally painful.

Ealan, as you know this grief adjustment journey is one of the most painful experiences we will know on this side of eternity. It is a journey that can only be traveled one day at a time, sometimes one moment at a time, in your own way and in your own time. And even though we have traveled this journey before, each experience is unique because the bonds that we have with each of our companions are unique. Having traveled this grief journey before does not diminish the deep seering pain of sorrow that our hearts have to endure when we are faced with a new and painful adjustment journey to travel.

Ealan, one of the many things you need to remember during your grief journey is that you are not alone. You are among friends here who truly do understand what you are going through. We are here for you for as long and as often as you need us. And your beloved Bridgette's and Speedy's sweet Living Spirits are always with you as well. The love bonds you and your beloved Bridgette and Speedy share are eternal - - they are not restricted to the physical laws of time or space.

Ealan, I know there are no adequate words in any language that can soothe the seering pain of sorrow that is in your heart. I can only hope and pray that the words I share with you will offer you some measure of comfort, support, encouragement, and hope as you travel your grief adjustment journey.

Thank you so much for sharing your beloved Bridgette and Speedy with us, Ealan. Perhaps sometime you will feel up to sharing a picture(s) of them with us - - but only if / when you want to. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and please let us know how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,

Oh Ealan - I'm so very sorry for your loss. My parents lost two of their dogs within a couple months of each other and it was devastating. Sending you hugs and keeping you in my thoughts.

Take time to breathe and rest.
