Gretta's Mom
Hi Gretta girl

Please don't think mommy has forgotten you. Yes, Rufus, the "little" brother you sent me and I love each other a lot and I seldom shed tears on our walks, but you've still got a pieece of my heart and I have a piece of yours. Yesterday was Thanksgiving - a day we give thanks for the good things we have - and the bad. The Lord God make them all. I', thankful for you, Babyface. Thank you for being the first dog I ever had as an adult - a friend and soulmate that was truly my own. Thank you for opening my heart to the love of a special soul-dog, a "white buffalo" spirit dog. Thank you for showing me that kindness conquers everything and everyone. Thank you for sitting on the loveseat every night so I could see you face as I walked up the front walk and wave to you and see you jump down to meet me at the door. Thank you for showing me the value of a dog's nose at the door welcoming me home every time I opened the door. It was because I missed that "nose" that I asked you to send me a brother or sister and you sent me Rufus - a really BIG black lab/Newfoundland (but, of course, you know that already). Thank you for putting the dog Aloo in my path in that country so far away. (I'll write about him and why it's so important for a dog to have a name.) Thank you most of all for love and gentleness. I carry you in my heart and will forever until we meet again.

Are you gathering a little "tribe" with you cousin Trevor - a tribe of "unremembered" for mom and Aunt Bobbie and Auntie Moonbeam to do the rememering? Tell them we're thankful for them, too.

Until tomorrow, Babyface.

Hi again, Gretski!

How are you doing tonight? Is everything really Perfect in the Perfect World? I know it is or they wouldn't call it that. I;m thinking of you during these days - thinking of how last year I could see you slowing down and having a hard time with the Minnesota winter so I decided to count down days from 100 - which would take us to the middle of February - and as my grandma used to day "the back of winter would be broken". But it wasn't, so I had to add another 30 days. And every day, like the trooper you were, we made it on our daily walks and "out-goings". Mid-March wasn't so great yet, but I decided not to add another 30 days. By mid-April, I had lost you - well, I couldn't see you any more, or pet you or look into your beautiful soulful brown eyes, or pet your soft, velvet ears. But you taught me by doing that that you were NOT gone, that you live on in the Perfecct World, and that one day we WILL be reunited. And kind Aunt Moonbeam slowly taught me about soul-dogs who exchange pieces of soul with their "people". And that we did - which can never come undone. Rufus is sleeping on the dog bed with his head on a pillow, Isn't he cute? Thank you so much for sending him to me when my heart was so broken. And thansk for going with me to India. Send a ray down to the doggie Aloo in Puchkar - and his family, who gave him a name, and a home, and regular food, and love. That's what a name means, Babyface, and you have so many.

Rest well, Baby, and as an oldster and a great mom, take care of little puppies and kitties and all other fur babies who come there when they're ony babies. They need a mom like you.

Thanks for everything, my Gretta. Thanks for you.

Good night!

Gretta's Mom
Good morning my Gretta Girl,

Just stopping by to tell you I love and miss you. It's getting cold outside - I'll bet you're glad not to have to go through another one of THOSE! I always felt bad about your having to get your boots and your sweater on and still you must have been freezing! It'll never happen again, Ladybird. Like Dr Hinson said, you're in a safe place now. Those words are so comforting to me. I remember them over and over again and then even though I can't see you, pet you, hug you any more on this side, you ARE in a safe place now - never to have to suffer again.

Rufie and I are having a typical lazy Sunday. Uncle Marv says hello and says he misses you, too. Keep taking care of the newbies and those furries who aren't remembered by any person here on earth. Keep an especial eye out for street dogs from poor countries who show up. They had a tough life on earth and probably need to know they're loved and welcomed now.

See you later, Babyface.

I just love the many names you have for Ms. Gretta aka Dude! Your everlasting love shines through every word to her. What a wonderful mom you are!

There is a Boxer named Ben, that just reached Heaven yesterday some time. Trevor and Hermy are watching over him and I'm sure Gretta is there, also. You might want to check "notorious cat" to see how she's doing today.

Thank you for being such a good rescue mommy, Jeanne! You really are the best! (after Trevor, that is)

Love,
Bobbie
Petunia
That was a beautiful tribute. What a lucky doggie to have such a great mom.
