Dearest Flossie's Mom,

I will always remember how much I wept while reading your heartfelt message to Angel Fur Kid Flossie. Obviously, from your very Soul. I also read in your other post about the sweet black kitty Sasha that turned out to have Leukemia so shortly after you took her into your home and heart. I didn't know what to say. I'm so very sorry all this is hitting you so hard and that you're grieving so terribly in such gawd awful pain.

Flossie's Mom, please know that you, Flossie, Sasha and Doofus are all in my thoughts and prayers as I keep candles lit for them and you, too. If only there was something that I could do, something that I could say to take away your pain, Flossie's Mom. I would!

As usual you know just how to make a person feel comforted and not alone with our grief. I kew early on that I had a special bond with Flossie. She was not a people dog to anyone but our immediate family and only two other outside the family "pack" were ever able to pet her at first meeting. A very dear sister-in-law and a animal lover neighbor. I bet she has found them both as they are also gone. She was untouchable to all others. At times after so much poking & prodding by vets, she had to be muzzled this small white Poodle. One stay at the ICU unit for a week she had a big sign on her cage..... BITES! Tiny girl in a big cage next to a Great Dane with no such sign! Too funny to us. One tech was the only one she liked & that person would hold her for long periods of time as she howled & cried for us for hours when we left our daily visits. I cried all the way home every night. Her legs had all been shaved & we called her "chicken legs" for a long time after that.

I'll get over the loss of Sasha a bit easier than Flossie I am sure but she just spoke to my heart within seconds of picking her up. The most loving cat I've met at first sight. I fully expected a wild cat given our location in the country. I was so sure she had been dumped and that made it even more special for me that she had come to us. I planned to try to find her a suitable home & if it was not just right I would keep her. Such a shock to find she was so sick. She gazed into my eyes & purred lovelingly the entire time in the vet's office. I hope she understands I would have kept her and loved her forever had she not been delt the fate she was. Five days is a short time but that is what she will remember I hope.

The weather became bitter for a stray cat just 2 days after she came so I was thankful that she found us when she did. Her fate would have been to be cold, hungry and alone. Then who knows what suffering she'd have to endure till the end. She was sent to us for a reason. Just like Flossie. The time we had each was different but the reason they came to us was the same.... to know love, warmth and compassion when their time was near.

Much the same for Flossie..... her back injury at 3-1/2 would have been a death sentence for may pet owners. I knew her spunk so gave her that 45% chance & she took that chance & ran with it.... literally.... eventually she did run..... not normal, but ran she did for 14 more years. Those years also had many other trials and her vet was amazed at her. She was a pampered girl but gave so much to our family in return that will always be remembered.

Thanks again Dottie for your beautiful words & animations you always send.... you are such a comfort when you also have such losses in your life. I follow your posts but do not have the way with words you do so just please know I think of you often.

My beautiful Miss Flossie................

I'm really missing you these days. Maybe because I am traveling back to the house we shared for so many years and will be sleeping in the bed where you spent every night except for the times you were recovering at the hospitals after your painful surgeries. Since I am flying this trip I will leave your ashes behind. No trip in the van with you traveling up front like so many wonderful trips cross country.

Watch over Mr. Jingles and Tango while I am gone. I will bring Michelle and her fur children back here with me when I return, So we will have a reunion with you when we get back. It will be strange to not be walking along the sidewalk with the pretty little white dog ahead of me in the neighborhood. With all the children admiring you and asking if they could pet you. NOT acceptable by you and the little girls especially hated that you were so unfriendly. I always had to explain your problems & the poking & prodding had made you "untouchable". If only people could have known what a wonderful girl you really were.

Mr. Jingles must know how much I've been missing you as he has been extra cuddly lately. I do love him and it helps that he sleeps with his head right on my pillow with his arm across my neck many nights for a while at least. Then he goes to the end of the bed on a blanket like you were for so many nights. He has been a comfort over the last 2+years.

WeeBee also has brought joy to our hearts and we are so thankful she found us. As it turned out we really needed her to come into our lives when she did. Four short months later we had to let you go. She is not you but she needed us as badly as we needed her and our house is a much happier place with the two of them here. Our hearts were broken and they do their best each day to make us smile. They are buddies like you and Doofus were when you were young.

Now Tango is a different story...... he is a good kitty and tries to fit in. I do not have the connection with him that I do with Jingles & WeeBee but he is getting more comfortable with the family everyday. He also needed a home and we are a much better home for him than where he was the last time. We are his third home. He sometimes bullies Jingles and Jingles is such an easy going guy he will just move.....

I suppose you really know all of this already since you are watching over us I know. I'm sure you will also be watching over Michelle & I while we are in our home cleaning things out to move everything away from there. We will be back here in about 6 weeks so you will only have one place to watch over instead of two. Unfortunately we will have to leave Ladybug behind as she is buried in the flower bed..... just two days before you left us.
