I was so distraught over losing Husker that I never really told any of you about myself and my family. I am 27 years old and live in Iowa. My boyfriend and I have been together since 2001 and we bought a house together a few years ago. I am starting my degree in dental hygiene at the end of August. We now have 3 fur babies: Miles, Huskers brother, who we adopted from our local humane society. Lucky, a stray cat that camped out under our carport during a blizzard the first winter we moved into our home. And Mya, our German Shepherd, who is 2 years old now, and has been diagnosed with kidney failure. The vet says that we will have 2 to 4 "good" years with her and her diagnosis was about a year ago. The vet moniters her health pretty well. She has blood tests done every 6 months and she is on a prescription diet. I'm also posting pics of our fur babies..hope you like it!

What a beautiful family you have! They're all just wonderful looking--and such great pictures. Thank you so much for sharing them with us! I'm sorry for Mya's kidney failure, though--may you have a long and happy life together.

Thanks too for the information about yourself. It's fun to begin to get to know people here--so often, we don't tell anything much about ourselves because we are so distraught about our animals.

I'm Margi. I'm an old hippie of 60, presently unemployed but soon to be teaching again when the school year starts. I am also a professional writer and editor, and a jeweler and glass beadmaker. I have a boyfriend but I keep him at a safe distance--about 1000 miles away! That way, he doesn't get in my way too often! For many years, I was a psychotherapist in private practice. I have only little Leopold now--my new addition--Leopold, King of Hysterica, my new Bengal kitten. He is insane!

Thanks again for sharing with us!

Hi,Maranda, thank you so much for sharing your precious furkids with us. I'm so glad to know that Mya is doing well on her prescription food, or that's the impression that I got from your post. Two years old is so young, and she has been dealing with this since she was a puppy. Each day with our furkids is precious, and I know you are memorizing each moment with Mya with your heart for cherished keeping.

My parents both hailed from the mid-west and Iowa is one of the States where extended family have lived. I have lost contact with cousins so I don't know if they are still alive, but I do have a "genetic" attachment to the mid-west. I hope you're not in or close to "tornado alley".

I hope all goes well with your dental hygienist training. Please let us know how things go for you.

Again, Maranda, please accept my deepest sympathies in the loss of your beloved Husker. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I will look forward to knowing how you're doing.

Peace and blessings,
