Christmas came, and you weren't here.
You didn't have a stocking hung up.
You didn't sneak in early and steal your new "baby" from under the tree.
You didn't dance around while gifts were opened, sharing in the excitement.
You didn't mooch goodies from the kids, didn't get to share in the noonday meal.
You didn't hide while the fireworks were going off outside.
You weren't here.
Or were you?
As we hung stockings up for the kids, both two and four legged, we remembered you.
We laughed remembering how you would go straight to your new "baby" and drag it out from under the tree every year, always knowing which one was yours.
We laughed watching Fancy playing with her toy, remembering how excited you used to get during the opening of gifts.
Each bite taken was with a little bit of sadness, remembering how much you loved sharing, even though you ate so little.
We looked around almost guiltily while the fireworks went off, remembering how much you hated them, how you would find a hiding spot until the craziness subsided.
You WERE here, even if only in our rememberences, our thoughts of you, our continuing love for you!
You will always be with us, Bitsy!
Love, Daddy
