Gemini's Mom
I took my Gemini to the vet on Saturday, he has kidney problems. They are trying to flush them out, his blood count and other numbers were down according to the vet.
They said he had a 50 /50 chance of this working so I figured he deserves that chance. Today she said he was better as far as the numbers going up but when I saw him he looks worse than when I brought him in. He is very down, It's almost like he's given up. The vet said it's up to him now. Tommorow I may have to make what feels like one of the hardest decisions of my life. This is killing me and I am torn as to what to do sad.gif

I feel for what you're going through. When I took my Sydney to the vet, we found out she was in kidney failure and had to stay overnight for a week on IV fluids to see if it would flush everything out. I visited her every day and it was so hard to see her there. I knew she wanted to be home so bad. Every day was a different story - some days she was up, some she was down. When it became clear that she wasn't improving, we took her home to spend what we feared might be her last night sleeping in bed with us and prayed for a miracle. Unfortunately our prayers weren't answered and she continued to deterioriate, so we brought her back to the vet the next morning and made, as you say, the hardest decision of our lives.

If Gemini's numbers are improving, I would take that as a good sign. Sydney's barely moved, despite being on the IV for 7 days. I will think good thoughts and hope that Gemini pulls through. I'm sure he just looked down because he was at the vet and not at home. No one likes being in the hospital.

Hang in there. (((HUGS))))
