Had to put down my 3 & 1/2 year old siberian husky today....we got him from rescue a year and a half ago, he was scrawny, neglected, and in need of some serious love, which we gave him. In the space of just a few months he was healthy, playful, and he turned out to be one of the best companions we ever had.

We've lost a valued member of our family. we're all just devastated by this. Please say a prayer for Yukon, he's across the Bridge now....but, God, it hurts so bad....

I'm so sorry that you lost your dear friend. And at such a young age. How devastating.

He is with my Luba, and all of the other beloved pets that the people on this site have lost. He is at peace now.

Hi Rick:

I'm sorry to hear about your special furbaby. So sad, at such a very young age!!!

A year and 1/2 ago, you rescued a BEAUTIFUL Siberian Husky who had been neglected, under-nourished and not
cared for...............and,
In a few months, you saw to it that he became healthy, nourished and MUCH LOVED!!!! wub.gif

I KNOW that it hurts so bad!!! Really bad!!!

You & your family rescued a beautiful, loving baby and gave him a home in which he became a loving companion-----
You loved him so very much and he loved you and your family..... wub.gif
It is such a precious love!!!

He knows that he was loved very, very much, too!!!!

I have said a prayer to our sweet girl, Ernestine, that she welcome Yukon to "Rainbow's Bridge", and show
him around...... rolleyes.gif
Yukon is among "the best company in the world", and has soooooo many new friends -----
All of the wonderful people's "furkids", who have passed on, from Lightning Strike....

I always repeat a saying that a very wise person said to me, right after we had to put our girl to sleep on 2/7/2004.

She said to me:
"Denise, you took on Ernestine's pain so that she could be without pain"........

And today, that's what you did!
It hurts and it hurts a lot.... I am sorry....

We are all here for you whenever you need to talk....vent.....cry.....
We are here.........
The only people who can understand are those who have been there...

And, we all have...
If you had to find a pet-grief site at all, I'm glad that you found us....

Much Peace & Love, to you and your family,

Goodnight & God bless you all,

Denise & Ben

Dear Rick,
Just a note to let you know that I am thinking of you tonight. Thinking of you and your whole family whose home feels so different now that Yukon had to leave to take his place at the rainbow bridge! Just like with people, it seems, no one knows when a life will end and sometimes it is "sprung" on us! How crushed you must all be because Yukon was so dear to your family and so "smart". You have this added shock of the infection and your Yukon not being able to fight it. I am so so sorry!! He certainly is a gorgeous animal that will be missed for many reasons. Obviously you cared so much for him it will be alwhile before you feel returned to normal again. My hat is off to you for having rescued Yukon in the first place, for allowing him into your lives so that he will always be remembered and so that he can meet up with "his family" again one day in the next dimension. Certainly if humans get an afterlife animals do too because they are more deserving of it than most people! and certainly if humans get to be reunited with their loved ones in the next world that includes our best animal friends too. St. Francis of Assisi made all animals our brothers and sisters! smile.gif Many animals never get a family to call their own. Yukon did.
You'll see him again one day. Hugs to you.

Hi Rick and family,

So sorry to hear of your loss. What wonderful people you are to have rescued Yukon from a miserable life. He went from that to having 3 and half great years with a family who loved him very much. What's a better way to leave this world?

Although his time with you was much too short, the memories will last forever.

Thinking of you,
__Jim

Dear Family of Yukon

Instead of doing work as I should be on this Labor Day, I am searching pet loss on the internet and I came across yours. Unfortunately, we spent our Saturday enduring the same pain and feeling of emptiness. After diagnosis of lymphoma, and one sucessful surgery 2+ months ago, I had to make the hardest decision that I can remember ever making. It's Monday now and I still question 'should i have went through w/ chemo?'. To make a long story short, I now know that I am not alone and that my Miss Muff (nickname for Muffin, a 15lb. tuxedo cat) now has a new friend. Being that she lived with three other cats and three dogs, I feel better that she is not alone. She also was homeless nine years ago when she found my front door. If Yukon was your only baby, there are so many more that need a family and the love that you have to offer when you feel ready. Having my other babies has helped me get through the last couple of days because they are there to wipe (lick) my tears when I have a hard time. You all will be in my thoughts. Chas.
