Hi everybody. Im so grateful for everybodies kind words. It helps to know that you are not alone in this difficult time. Many people say that its best to wait a while to get another new Pal, but I just could not . I have already adopted a new Doggie Pal. His name is Seamus and hes a 2 year old medium size Shepherd. He was living in a small apartment with a lady who had Asthma and couldnt keep him anymore. He now has a nice big yard to play in and he is making himself quite at home.
Im still in a lot of pain from losing Duke but I know that in time I will love this New Pal as much as I did Duke.
I have had to put a dog to sleep before, about 10 years ago, and the pain this time is just the same. I do know that the pain did go away in time. There has been some good come from this.
A doggy that needed a good home now has one, and Ive made a whole lot of new friends.
I'll post a few pics when Im feeling a bit better.
Take care everybody................................ David

Dave, this is Jorge, I too lost my beloved Buster to cancer in his nose and like you I was devastared, I thought that the whole world felt on top of me and as you know the pain was so terrible that only God knows how it is still. And like you I adopted enstead of one five pets, four from my next door neighbor 90 and something years old Lady [now dead] and one from The Humane Society from my state of Missouri and even though I still remember the good times Buster and I spent together still have flashbacks of him dying on my arms after the second inyection was giving to him and like you I did it very soon after Buster died 'cause I was lonely and in to much pain, I wish you the best and to the new family member Seamus and specially Duke up above in Heaven, May God Bless All of You always, Jorge

What a BEAUTIFUL dog.
Both of you are sooooo lucky to have found each other.
Waiting or not waiting is such an individual decision. This appears to have been right for both you and Seamus. So happy for both of you. Maybe Duke knew Seamus needed a home so chose this time to leave and make room.
I wonder that about my Flossie..... she accepted a new kitten and dog like never before in her life in June. Watched them a lot and was maybe making sure they were acceptable to take over our lives before she left. She even tried to play with WeeBee a couple of times.
Congratulations to both of you. Keep giving updates on how both of you are doing.

I am so glad you found Pal. I know he has a lot of that unconditional love to give and that is something so precious....some of us just can't do without it (I am in that group, for sure).
He looks like a sweetheart. Of course, I admit being partial to shepherds, mixes or not.
I am glad you are not alone and that you have this boy to hug and hold...we need that.
Keep us updated on how you are doing and how Pal is doing, okay?
Judy
