Full Version: Keeping Site Running...
Lightning-Strike Pet Loss Support Forum > Pet Loss Support > Death and Dying Pet Support
DJ - Edgar and Jess'es Mommy
I have to apologize to you all - I just realized that there is a place to donate to help keep the site running. I have to wait til I'm home to get my paypal log on from my Outlook Express files but I'll be donating asap.

I never thought of the effort and $ it must take - and I have enough to help out for sure... I mean - if three of us donated $5 a month the site would be safe.

I also wanted to encourage everyone to give this url to their vets and clinics - not enough people are making use of this resource and the support here.

My vet was AMAZED when I gave her the link to come on here and look. I printed up some little cards with the url for her to give people who are grieving over their pets.

Thanks for the idea DJ I will be making some leaflets to put in the vets tonight. I must say my old vet wouldn’t even consider actually giving them out but I know they will let me put a leaflet on the notice board.

Also re donations if like me you buy a lot of books, CDs etc, if you order these through Amazon (the connection is on the very first page www.lightning-strike.com) Lightning Strike gets a percentage, thereby you get your books, CDs cheaper than buying them in the shop and Lightning Strike also gets a percentage to help with the costs – sounds ideal to me.

oh you guys...its been kind of a teary week for me, but not related
to pet loss so i won't go into it. but thank you so much!

i've had this site running since 1996, and there is no way i would ever let
it disappear. some guy actually offered to buy the lightning-strike.com domain,
but i said no way because i've seen how many people it has helped, something
that was difficult to find on the net back in the "old days." with the painfully
slow demise of the alt.support.grief.pet-loss newsgroup my (ex)wife and i
started on USENET at the same time, my main goal right now is to direct
people from the newsgroup here. they don't have to stay here, i just want
to make sure they don't suffer the harshness that has resulted there.

your contributions are so appreciated tho, it takes some of the stress off
when the bill comes each year. but PLEASE do not feel like you have to, as
i will always support this site regardless, and hope to pass it along to one of
my kids one day when i forget how to turn the computer on smile.gif

This site (and the previously board) helped me more than I can say. So you are wrong. I HAVE to help. I can't ignore the needs of the people on here any more than I ignored the stray Tom in my neighbourhood. This help is too important.

As long as I have the $$ means, I will assist. I'll figure out Paypal in the next day or so.

This message board is better than any professional therapy.
It's so good to hear from others in the same boat.
I love seeing the stories of how much people love their babies.
The pictures are great. I'll try to upload mine on this message, hope it works.
