This isn't a normal topic but this bard helped me in my time with Meg being pu down 3 years ago.

I got a new dog, Luna, a Rottweiler, Rohegen ridge back cross. She is sweet and territorial.

She is fine, but the reason Im upset is their is a friendly cat that used to op and see me at the front of the house and was the nicest cat ever.

Anyway today, we found Luna with the cat shaking it around, I got her in the house but the RSPCA took the cat. It couldnt walk on its back legs and was dragging itself under a bush.

I dont know whos cat it is, but im wracked with guilt and hope this cat is ok. Im absoutely devasted for it.

I just needed to share it with people.

I'm so sorry. That must have been horrible to watch. The main thing I get out of it is that people who own cats risk a lot by letting their cats roam outside. It is just too much temptation for some dogs. It is not your fault, you did what you could to help the cat. Can you call to check on the cat?

I could go into far more detail and elaborate but what Beth said ... I echo her sentiments. And, I am so, so very sorry that you're feeling such guilt. It's not your fault, Dear One. For many doggies, that is their nature and ... I empathize so greatly with you because of my own personal experiences and the huge guilt I felt and even anger toward my "felonious feline" and "killer canine" after what they did when it is only their nature. I mean, I felt so guilty and ticked off at them. No, I didn't express my anger toward my pets but dang. So, I sure know how you feel, Dear One!

On another note, you did far, FAR more than most would have done had that happened. Most would have just "walked away" and not have tried their best to get help for the wounded and or dying creature who was attacked by their pet. Honest and for true. I say God (or insert the deity of your choice) Bless You Most Abundantly for going above and beyond! Bless You! Please do keep us posted and feel free to express yourself. It does feel so much better.

I send you Tons and Tons of Comforting Hugs and Much, Much Gratitude for being who and what you are!!!

Always,

You really did the best thing for the kitty, you need not feel guilty. I have a kitty I rescued from being killed by my sons 2 dogs. They did kill her brothers and sisters. I love those 2 dogs dearly and like Beth said its too much for some dogs to resist. I'm sorry you and Luna had this happen, I know its a horrible thing to witness. Be kind to yourself as you were to the injured kitty. Ava

I'm really sorry for what happened to you.

Our cat Tiffany was killed by our neighbour's dog. It's sad, but I never did blame the dog. Tiffany grew up with big dogs and was always the boss, so she didn't fear the dog as she should have.

Again, these things are so difficult to accept - the nature of cats and dogs, especially when some cats are particularly trusting. I wish this part of nature was different, but it is what it is, although some "instincts" can be altered through training.

And yes, at least you got the cat help rather than turning a blind eye.

One of our dogs was quite aggressive to our cats and we were able to change this behaviour so it might be something you could look into with a professional trainer.

Sending healing thoughts to the kitty, and to you..

I'm so sorry to hear the story. Everyone is right when they say it's not your fault and please don't feel guilty. It was just Luna's natural instinct. It's awful, but not every dog is kind to cats, and it's really no different than a cat attacking a mouse. I do know how you feel though. Hopefully it will be ok...Sending a prayer the little kitty's way(and yours)..Hugs.. Ann

Thanks for your responses.

I was going to ring to see how the cat is if they could tell me.

I have already sent emails to jin a dog trainer just incase this is something that needs to be contained.

I will keep you updated and thank you. I just pray the cat can move on and you never know, it may lead to the cat being in a better home.x
