There is a Company in our area called Freeway Service Patrol that help stranded motorists for free, I believe. I read an article about one of the employees whose job is to go out on the freeways helping people. When asked about an unusual experience he had on the road, this is the story he told:

I came across a German Shepherd in the roadway. He had been hit, and nobody wanted to touch him, because he was scared and trying to bite people. I love animals, so I just walked over, scooped him up and drove him to the nearest animal hospital. They asked who was going to pay for it. I called my boss, who's also an animal lover, and he told me to give them the company credit card. The dog made a full recovery, and we adopted him out.

I read so much of the opposite happening in the newspapers that this story really made me smile and as I like to say, we share our pain and we also share our smiles.

I can understand the one who scooped up the dog. Unfortunately, I can believe the animal hospital's concern about money. But then to read the owner of the company without hesitation gave the instructions to put whatever it cost on the company credit card (without stating a limit)......well, it made me feel good to read such concern for an animal in distress...and maybe telling the story will make others smile...even for a moment. We need to hear good things, positive things, and we do need to smile when we can. Sadness comes without warning. Happiness is something we seem to have to look for.

Hi Judy

wonderful story.....so there are those humans who care enough to help others in need...Wouldnt the world be wonderful a place if there were happening endings and more giving. So many just couldnt be bothered, and yet, there are those who come forward when the chips are down.....The animal hosp like so many other vets in this day and age only care about getting paid. Whats sad is how the value of life has become equated to you can be saved as long as you can afford to pay.

I needed to read some wonderful news....thanks for sharing

Great story. Yesterday I was on my way to the beach. A dog got loose somewhere in the area and was running in the street, weaving in and out of traffic. It's a terrible road. No sidewalks, very narrow and winding. I drove to the nearest clearence and tried to follow it to see if I could get him, but he disappeared. I hope he ducked into someones yard unhurt. I thought about that poor thing all day. Hopefully that newspaper story would get a lot of people thinking that animals need help too. Thanks again..Ann
