My Calli Cat, my mama cat who I inherited last winter,is now at the Rainbow Brigde with Jake and Bailey, and it is all my fault..she got outside, and I couldn't get to her, and then couldn't find her, and someone hit her with a car. I had to go to class this morning too, and take a midterm, but I feel so terrible, and I cannot stop crying. I am sorry to ramble, it just hurts so much.

I am so sorry to hear what happened to Calli. You have been through this pain before with your others but what happened to Calli was so completely unexpected......what a horrible shock..

My 3 cats who are now gone never went near the door but the new shelter cat, Lucky, I adopted after my Little Guy left me in September....well, Lucky loves to lay by the door. He has strolled outside a couple of times and never goes far but I always feel that one day if he saw a stray cat...his instinct might be to chase it and then he would be gone and left vulnerable to many outside things that can hurt him. So I got hysterical enough that everyone makes sure now he does not stroll outside. I have a squirt bottle by the back door..as a reminder for him. I just dread exactly what you described. I am so very very sorry about what has happened to Calli and to you.

Yes, it does hurt so very much and crying is the only relief we can think of when it happens and it does provide some relief from thinking but not from the pain.

Post here your thoughts and feelings...get them out of your thinking and down here...that may help. Otherwise, crying is just so natural.....it just has to happen and it goes on until we think we can't cry anymore and then it can start over. It is all part of what we have to go through. You are not alone in that intense pain. Many here, if not all, have felt the intense pain and sadness that is overwhelming you right now. Don't fight the grief right now....you have to let those emotions out.

We are always here listening so come back and let us know how you are doing. If you want to post a note to Calli here, we do that when we want to say something to our special ones and at times, that offers some emotional relief.

I am so very sorry to hear about your Calli!!! Your story reminds me of my own story. Lost my Sissycat 8 weeks ago to almost the same thing. She got ran over also and I felt like it was my fault.
The pain is so terrible and fresh for you right now. It is really hard when we don't get the chance to say goodbye. Just remember ever day is a day closer to your reunion with Calli.

I am so sorry to hear about your precious cat. Please don't blame yourself. I've heard so many stories of indoor cats getting out and something like this happens. I decided to make my Arthur and outdoor cat. The shelter almost didn't let us have him because of it. But I've had 2 cats when I was younger, both outdoor, and we lived on the corner of 2 major streets. They lived 18 and 12yrs. Arthur had a hugh yard to run around in. I supervized his every move(even had him on a leash) never was he allowed out when we weren't home. I slowly gave him his freedom. He was afraid of people, he was afraid of cars. I thought for sure his fate would be anothe animal(fox or coyote)I didn't want to see that happen but my own beliefs is that they are natural born hunters, they need their freedom. He loved it, I loved seeing him enjoy it. He came home with a 4 inch gap in his tail vertibra, which caused severe internal nerve damage and we had to let him go. He had no bite marks, he had no other broken bones. The vet insisted it was a car. That he may have gotten grazed. I cringe to think that if that was the case he was seconds of escaping. I battle back and forth, should I have let him be an outdoor cat. But I know in my heart I would do it all over again. So with me I have to live with it. Yours was a complete accident. i am so terrible sorry for your sudden loss. its not your fault. you loved Calli. you would have never wanted this to happen and you had no control over it. it was a sad accident. i recently saw a stray kitten hit by car and fell to pieces. i cant imagine what you are going through but i know the pain of losing my own kitty suddenly to disease. we are all here for you. Calli has your other angels jake and bailey to keep her company as they all watch over you. i'm sorry for all your losses. they never get easier. my heart is with you.

I am so sorry to hear about Calli's accident. I, too, lost my sweetheart by her getting away from me and getting hit by a car too. It's a very sad feeling, I know. I was a complete zombie for weeks thinking about how this freak accident took my precious baby away from me so quickly and unexpectedly. All the "if only's" drove me crazy and still do. Please don't be hard on yourself.

To all of you who have given much needed support--thank you. I couldn't bear to be on this site for awhile, it just hurt so much. I still miss my Calli girl...however, her spirit lives on in the form of her little one "Bailey's Irish Creme II"...he is a love bug! He looks so much like my Bailey's Irish Creme I"..hence the name, and he acts so much like a combination of Jake, Bailey, and Calli.

It's been just over three years since I lost my Jake. I still miss him, yet, I can look back at the happy memories that I hve with him and not be so sad. Sometimes I still think that I can hear Calli "talking" to me..and I still look for her...I didn't have her very long, but I hope that she knew that she was loved.

Glad to hear you have a love bug keeping you busy. It is such a help. You have them. They have you. A win-win situation.

We never forget our best friends because they are a part of our heart and so will be with us forever. Looking back at the happy memories is the best way to feel them again.
