Thank you for the pictures...Contrary to what I expected, they actually made me smile, thinking of Triple Trouble, like putting Miles or Muphy into a Xerox machine.
I never had long haired black cats before my two. Lurking in the shadows, they showed only eyes.
My sad bit came today when eating supper. I looked up at the philodendron plant, and *sob* Miles had not eaten the leaves!
As people, we live relatively long times, with the foreknowledge of our own deaths. Our Furballs live in innocence, and at least do not worry about it all the time. When has a cat bought nine Life Insurance policies?
Our longest lived cat was our Burmese Minka (aka "Minkaloon"). She lived 23 years. The last year was kind of impersonating a turnip..she slept most of that time, then left gracefully, like a ship leaving on the tide.
23 Years was a significant fraction of a human life. She was like someone who had always been there.
I should be hearing from the Shelter in a week or so, as they are setting up interviews of their hopeful rescues. No matter how much it hurts, or how crass it sounds to be interviewing while grieving, I am going to start it all over again. We cannot save them all, though I know a woman who is trying to. My niece is having trouble getting dates because of her work hours, and said," I am going to be like my landlady...Someone's AUNT with fifty cats, who gives bad presents!!!"
But isn't it amazing how we can know and come into contact with cats and dogs, who have been our partners since the Stone Age...and never meet two who are alike?! They are such characters!

I am glad you are looking at rescues.
I am a little worried about how I am going to handle it. The two cats we have are bonded to my wife. They like me OK, but it's not the same. When I search the SPCA sites, I find myself folding up and losing it.
I really missed Miles this morning..it hit me out of the blue.
If I go to a shelter today I am likely to come home with a dozen cats. I hope I quiet down before I start condujcting interviews.
Right now, I think I would fall apart seeing the ones I could NOT rescue.

Hi Judy,
Thanks for letting me know about your new pics. They are beautiful. I love seeing them as babies. It really made me feel like I knew them. And you have pictures of their mother. She was gorgeous. Whatever happened to her? Do you know?

I thought all the cats would run up to me when I first went and they didn't and someone here suggested that maybe they are used to people coming in and leaving without them and that's why they aren't eager. And really, with Lucky, I walked around and found him. He was sleeping all the time and didn't even know I was there.
Just some thoughts to ponder, Jon.
Thanks! Good point!
Though I may have been lucky a few times, after all they ARE Cats...The eye contact will help. Among most animals it is considered an agressive gesture, so a cat who reacts positively probably has a pretty mellow disposition.

Happy birthday little guy, little girl, and keeper! Judy, what a beautiful tribute to your three little birthday angels. I have not had internet access since we moved unless I am at a friend's. I'm glad I wasn't too late for your babies birthday. I will light a candle for them tonight. Be well and I will come back soon(fingers crossed)
