Congratulations! It sounds like you both were lucky to find each other. If you can,
please post a photo. Best of luck with your new furkid.
Also, if scratching is a problem you might consider Soft Claws. They are little rubber claws that glue onto the regular claws. They last from 4-6 weeks before having to replace them. You get several months worth per package and the price is reasonable. At our rescue/adoption group we recommend them instead of declawing as a humane alternative. A lot of our customers have tried them and almost everyone is very satisfied with the results. It really keeps the cat from scratching furniture.
All the best,

I'm so happy to hear your home has a cat in it again! Yay for all of you, Lucky is lucky to have found you guys.
I snip the sharp parts off the claws every 2 weeks to a month, then not so many pokes. They don't really love to have it done but with pets and kisses it's not bad. Front claws only. Did you try catnip on the scratching post? My feeling is I'll just get another chair/sofa

lol. Guess I'm easy. It may be that scratching the funiture will slow down as soon as things smell like Lucky, he has scent glands in his feet, and nothing at your house smells like him yet. When it does he might be happier with a post. I also agree with Ken on the Soft Claws, they work.
Like Joanne said, he'll get you guys trained up fast.
I wish all of you years of love and joy. What a Christmas gift!

I'm so happy you have a new kitty in your family named Lucky.
It might be easier to put extra material on the things Lucky likes to scratch, then the other way around, lol. I can't wait to see all the pics!

Hugs Judy, glad you got the claws trimmed. I tried the water squirt with Twubby, and Ian, Twubby chewed the spray nozzle so it did not work anymore, lol. Both Ian, and Twubby had FUS a few times, thats what they called it back then, they call it something else now. I'm glad Bue, and Nibbles never experienced the blockage.
Talk to ya later

Judy,
I can't wait to see pictures of Lucky! I'm so happy for you and your husband that you found him. He will never take the place of Little Guy, but it is so very nice to have a furry little soul in the house to love, isn't it?
I use a covered litter box for Riley because if I don't, he flings litter everywhere, lol. I scoop it every day, then give it a full empty and scrub every 2 weeks. That schedule seems to work out well for both of us.
As for claws, you can buy some sticky tape to put on the furniture until he learns to stop scratching on it. (I have to put it on top the dresser to keep Riley off there!) Also, I use the little cat nail clippers and trim his claws every week or two, which helps prevent him snagging on stuff as well as being less sharp. I never had to do it before, but my previous cats were always indoor/outdoor. Riley doesn't go out, so doesn't wear his claws down as much as the others did so they do get very long and sharp without trimming. You might try this for Lucky.
Hope things are going well. Can't wait to see the little sweetie

October 12 is my grandma's birthday. She just turned 98 so it seems to be a lucky day for her!
I'm glad the vet check went ok. Parasites are to be expected, so I'm glad thats all they found.
Don't you just love it when they run around like crazy?

Honestly Judy, I did not really look in detail as to who was holding him. I sit about 10" away from my HDTV when typing, and viewing the web. That detail is not obvious to me from using my TV as a monitor.
Sorry you were offended, but all I saw was a lap, and a happy kitty.

Whew, when I don't see a LOL, or LMAO I get nervous, my bad? LOL
On a lighter note, your hubbys hair does not show up on my 42" screen, ROFL.
But I can see every pore on Katie Coruics face hehe.
Lucky looks so content in (Your Hubby's Lap), It reminds me of how Bue looks in his pics. Thank you for taking the time to show me, and posting on Bue's hread.
I would love to see more pics there too.
I have friends coming over so we can watch the Patriots, and Jaguars play tonight.

That last picture is beautiful and he looks a lot like Alley in that one!
Like you, I have been taking lots of pictures of Riley. That is one of the things I regret, is that I only have about a dozen pictures of Alley. I did not own a digital camera then, but I do now. I have been having some of the pictures made into prints though so that I can frame them to put around the house.
I'm glad Lucky is settling in well. Like you said, I can't believe someone would ever abandon him, but then I think that about nearly every cat I see in the shelter each week.
Does he sleep with you at night or in his own bed? Riley is not a lap cat and doesn't like to be "loved on" as much as Lucky seems to, but I'm hoping he will mellow with age! Right now he's too busy playing and doing stuff to settled down for petting a lot.

Hugs Judy, all I know is that I'm a Pats fan. I know alot of people hate them, but oh well.
I want to snuggle with Lucky so bad, he just seems like that kind of kitty. I have always loved black cats, but only had one in my life. A few years ago I was going to adopt one from a shelter, but he was huge. I was afraid he would beat up Bue.
I already had four anyways. The people at the shelter said he was aggressive, and possessive.

Lucky is a very handsome fellow. Some of his pictures remind me of baby, Mijo, whom I lost three years ago today. Lucky and you two are very lucky to have each other. Enjoy! June

Okay, you promised more pictures; where are they? As Mijo used to say, "Nhow!"
Like you, I am also glad that black cats have some similarities so we can feel that continuity. I now have Koko who looks like some of Lucky's pictures as well. Interestingly, I also have a grey cat that looks much like Mijo (same hair texture and ruff), except he's grey instead of black. But if I close my eyes, he feels just the same. Not that Cin Cin is much like Mijo in personality, but he also does a meow that sounds ver familiar. Enjoy Lucky Train!
