The better half and I were walking Friday afternoon when she got a call from our vet's technician who said she had two kittens that a guy had trapped. She has no room for more animals so she wanted to know if our group Goliath and Bebe's World could find them a home. We went up the next day to evaluate them and they looked to be in good condition. We took them home to foster them but I decided that these girls were going to stay with us. I would like to introduce to you Ellen and Elvira. They are 5 week old sisters and constantly play until they collapse. We have them isolated in the front room until they are big enough to test for FELV and to be spayed. At that point we will slowly introduce them to the other 7 cats and bunny. They need to get a bit larger before letting them loose in the house as the big cats might bully them. Ellen is 1 pound and Elvira is 1.5 pounds. Here is Ellen in the first photo and Elvira in the second photo. Except for the size they are almost identical.

Oh this is such good news, for you and them! Hi tiny Ellen and Elvira, welcome to the world. They are so darn cute. You really will have your hands and home full, but what fun!

I love the names. They are so very lucky to have found you guys.

I wish you years of love and joy.

They are beautiful! Thank you for taking care of these little angels.
Furkidlets' Mom
Oh, little, black beauties they are. I remember those days......*sigh*.... although our kids were the requisite 9 wks. old when we adopted them, but still about this tiny. Time to baby-proof again and throw away the diet/fitness books since you won't need them for a few more years now! laugh.gif

Can't help but worry about the mother cat though, (who is probably grieving herself now) and any other possible siblings to these two that may have been missed, still out there, untrapped and unfixed. Thank goodness at least Ellen and Elvira will have a loving home, though, with you, your wife and the rest of the fortunate crew! Two MORE who will have a chance at a good life! Congrats and the Universe thanks you muchly!

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome and kind comments. The girls have really grown closer to us the past couple of days. They come running over when I come in and rub against me purring loudly. Ellen grooms my arm while Elvira tucks her head under my hand and nuzzles my palm. They spend a lot of time chasing each other around the room and batting balls around on the floor. Lately they have taken to sleeping tucked into a massage cushion like it's a bed. Here is Elvira on the left and Ellen laying in the cushion together. Thanks again for the comments.

Ellen and Elvira are so sweet! I keep checking in to see new photos. I've always wanted to adopt siblings but God had other plans. Frankee was a rescue from the wild and I'm glad that his other siblings probably remained together with Mom. He was just too sick for her to care for.

I Truly Believe that God smiles when he sees souls like you and your family rescuing and enjoying the glorious babies. They are just precious and I wish you and your family years of wonderful memories with these sweet little girls!

Here's to the holidays! We want to see pictures of Ellen and Elvira in the Christmas Tree! Happy first Christmas Ellen and Elvira!

Bless you all,
Michelle

It's been 5 weeks with the girls now. They go back in one week for their last upper respiratory vaccine. Three weeks after that and they go in for their spays. We have introduced them to Miss Kitty, Luvey, Velvet, and Beau so far after greetings through the baby gates. The introductions have gone very well. As you can see from the photos the new girls take over the house and think they own the place when they are let loose. They fly all over the place exploring and playing with Beau. The others look on in amazement at their wild antics. We are having a ball with them and they give Beau all the exercise he can handle.

All the best,
Ken Albin

Just a quick update:
It's been 7 weeks with the new girls. We have them completely acclimated to the other 7 cats now and they have been staying out with them all day. It's funny because the one we were so worried about, Princess, has been very gentle with them. The only one who hisses and doesn't want anything to do with them is our oldest cat Miss Kitty, but at least she doesn't try to attack or chase them. Beau, Freddie, and Luvey all enjoy playing with the girls. It has been a real experience for me waking up at 6 AM with both girls latched onto my feet with their little claws sticking through the blanket. I found that I can actually levitate above the bed for a brief period of time!

We talked the guy who trapped Ellen and Elvira into getting the mother cat spayed and trying to find a good home for her. He is bringing her inside now that the weather is turning cold so she must be fairly tame.

Here the girls are today. They have doubled in size and weight since we got them. Elvira is the top photo and Ellen is the bottom one. They still look almost completely identical. Elvira's white patch on the front is just a little bit whiter than Ellen's. The color difference in the photos is due to the flash.

All the best,
Ken Albin

Hi Ken,

Ellen and Elvira are getting so big! What precious little faces. I'm so glad Momma is being taken care of.

We've had Frankee for 4 1/2 months. He was 3 weeks old when we got him. I forgot about the energy kittens have! Those baby teeth are especially sharp!

Finally our calico, Meeko, is starting to realize Frankee just might be fun to play with. She still hisses at him but he doesn't care and he seems to get more acrobatic, and calculating every day!

Your babies are absolutely precious:wub:! Thanks for the update and pictures.

Elvira and Ellen go in for their spays tomorrow. I hope that all goes well with the surgeries. The vet who is doing it has a good reputation for cat spay success and seems very caring. Here the girls are today. They look almost like bookends, don't they?

All the best,
Ken Albin

They ARE beautiful and...perfect bookends!!! I'm sure their surgeries will be fine. When my Little Girl was their age...she had it done and no problems.

You know, I can't think of any words that could have described that picture. It just had to be seen to be appreciated. Thanks for sharing.

Ken,

When I first looked at the picture I thought "bookends"! They are precious! I will say a prayer for them and your family. One plus in the girls favor is that they won't be alone at the vets, they'll have each other.

Frankee is the same age and goes in this week for neutering. I hope he isn't too mad at me when I pick him up mad.gif ! He should be fine and has already developed a report with our vet. If anyone, Dr. Cody will take the brunt for this adventure laugh.gif !

Ellen and Elvira are simply adorable! Do they like the same things (food, toys)? I've always been curious about adopting siblings. You should have a calendar made with the pictures that you've been taking. Each one is absolutely perrrfect!

You are in my thoughts and prayers,

Michelle

I'm sure Frankee will be fine too. Like you said, he'll be upset at the vet not you. rolleyes.gif I'll be thinking of him too.

Both of you let us know how things went.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Yes, Michelle. They both like the same toys and foods. They also behave much the same way. Just when I think I see a difference in one girl's behavior the other one begins acting the same way so I can't use that to tell them apart. They watch each other and if one of them does something new the other one immediately copies it.

They are home from their spays. Neither one is feeling very good now but they both ate a few bites and used the litter pan so those are good signs. It will take a few days for them to recover from their operations but barring complications they should be ok. The vet gave them a 24 hour shot that should help with the initial pain.

Thanks again. You all are the best.

Hi Ken,

I've been thinking about your girls. Hope they are recovering nicely. What a pair! So that must be where the phrase "copy cat" comes from.

Frankee is a little over 5 months. He goes in toorrow for neutering. I'm happy about this because he is getting a little "frisky" with his stuffed monkey. I hope that stops. The last two boys I had were neutered immediately at the shelters. They were 2 and 3 months old. Our vet and my Husband wanted to wait till Frankee was 6 months but I can't take any more of the "monkeying around blink.gif LOL". He is growing incredibally fast but we are absolutely sure he was only 3 weeks when we rescued him.

I'll keep checking back on the girls. They are adorable and it must be a challenge to figure out which one is which when they get into things. I'd love to see a video of a day at the Albin house!

I'll update you on Frankee. We're taking him in the morning.

It's been a week since the girl's spays. I knew they were feeling better the second day when Elvira scaled to the top of the baby gate as soon as I opened the door to go in. Let me share with you the past day for them and you will have a good idea of how they are doing now.

Ellen woke me up this morning at 5 AM by gnawing on my toes.
Ellen, Elvira, and Beau then took turns chasing each other through the house.
The girls stopped long enough to wolf down some food and then tore off again.
Elvira grabbed the cat treat package off of the table and carried it around the room.
Elvira sat on the coffee table and found great amusement in knocking drink coasters and magazines off of the table and watching them fall. The girls then slapped the coasters around the living room like hockey pucks.
Ellen jumped into the bunny's hay container and scattered hay all over the house.
They passed out for a couple of hours together on the couch this after noon. Now they are bouncing from the couch to the chair and trying to steal the snack I am eating.

This should let you all know how the girls are doing now! Thanks for all of the kind thoughts and wishes for them.

Hi Ken,

I love your "Day in the Life of Ellen and Elvira" story. My Husband and I had a good laugh. We loved Elvira grabbing the treat bag and carrying around as well as the hay all over the house! I 'm so happy that they are back to being bouncy, happy kittens! Thanks for sharing your story. It is truly a joy to hear it.

Frankee was kind of tramatized at the vet yesterday, since it was the only time we had left him alone in a strange place. I think he had flashbacks of being abandoned. He didn't like the barking dogs as well. His surgery went extremely well. He was a bit groggy for most of the night and would only relax if we were holding him. He didn't want to let us out of his sight last night. We pampered him with love and kisses. Such a sweet boy...until today. Amazingly he is back to his old self. Jumping, leaping, and talking. I've been trying to catch up on filing sitting on the floor. Frankee finds jumping and sliding on paperwork is sooo much fun! He has been into everything today and terrorizing the girls. After nursing sick kitties in the past, I'm so happy that he is bouncing off the walls. I love being irratated that he knocks a glass of water over after nursing a lethargic kitty.

Meeko, our calico, has never adjusted to having Frankee around though he is getting braver the bigger he gets and sometimes charges at her only to retreat before she can swat at him. She tolererates him. She still misses Nickels. Anyway, Meeko was so thrilled yesterday when we didn't come home with Frankee! She was doing the two step! Kept meowing at us like she was saying, "I knew you would finally come to your senses!" tongue.gif When we came back with Frankee the shock and disappointment on her face was apparent after she greeted him with a hiss. mad.gif I spent a lot of time last night loving on her. Things are back to normal!

Thanks so much for asking about Frankee. Too bad there's not play groups for kittens. Frankee would sure benefit playing with kittens like Ellen and Elvira that are the same age!

Hi Ken,
It's good to hear that your girls are doing well after their surgery. I feel like I've gotten to know them from their adorable kitten pics.
Hugs.

We were changing bags in the trash can. Cute Ellen noticed and decided to jump in.

I'll bet she is an absolute handful. As I look into her beautiful eyes I see her curiosity in them. My guess is that she is also a little mischief maker.

Thanks for bringing me a great big smile biggrin.gif
