Fancy
Just about a week ago my cat Fancy died. She was six years old. I dont know but like a week ago before she died she started acting funny . She went to the bathroom in my room..she usually never did that...but the upcoming tuesday She would eat but end up vomitting it back . We thought it was just her food so we switched...Wednesday she tried eating her new cat food..but she refused to eat at all. I would try to put some in her mouth but nothing worked..we didnt know what to do so we didnt think at all about taking her to the vet or anything. The next morning I woke up and a family member told me to spend some time with her before I left becuase she probably wont be around for long...I`ve never had a cat die because this is pretty much my first one . She was laying on my parent`s bed with a towel wrapped around her.She wouldnt move around at all . Everytime she breathed it made wierd noises and a noice sounded like a crackling and a .. well I really dont know how I would be to describe it..Anyway she died It was so sudden and really sad. We were planning to take her to the vet in just a half an hour..I miss her a lot..and we really didnt know anything much hhappening like this in the past with problems. So if anyone has some guesses on what it was that killed her I`d deeply appreciate it...
Oh and I also have another cat that has had A big bottom Lip.He`s had it for awhile and I dont know how it`s happening because when we feed him he doesnt eat out of a can (where he could get a swollen lip) and as far as I know i really dont know what its coming from . On his big lip he had 4 white spots that looked like saliva but then I realized it was his lip. But anyways , anybody know why this may be happening?Just curious....Thanks

I'm so sorry you lost your Fancy. I know you miss her.

When a cat goes outside it's box, one of the first things to do is take it to the vet. They often do that to let us know they are sick. If it's nothing or the beginning of a behavior problem at least you know. Don't beat yourself up, you didn't know. A cat that isn't eating needs a vet too, usually right away, it's not a great idea to wait. Vomiting her food back up was not a good sign either. My first thought would be a urinary tract something, blockage maybe, but there are a lot of things it could have been, so sorry I can't really help with what actually killed her.

With your other cat, he could have been bitten by a bug, he could be allergic to something or it could be something more serious. I'd advise getting him to the vet as soon as possible and finding out what is up with his lip.

My rule with my cats is if I don't know what's up, take them to the vet.

I wish you well, hugs.

agreed with Moose's mom, i would take the cat to the vet. the swollen lip could be a number of things, from acne brought on by using plastic feed/water bowls to bug bite to something worse. let the vet decide for sure.

what Fancy died from could again be a number of things, too difficult to dx for anybody but a vet. the crackling sound could have meant there was fluid or mucous in the lungs, which could have been brought on by aspiration of the vomit, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, etc. sometimes animals change their elimination habits to let us know something is wrong (a blockage, perhaps, but females typically do not suffer urinary blockages as male cats do), or because they are too sick to know better. it is difficult to know why things happen, if only they could talk and tell us.

sorry to hear about your loss. she looked like a cutie.

yea i know..i just feel kind of bad..we kinda could drive her to the vet its so far away i don't have a car and my dad cant drive , and my mom just had surgery so she couldn't , and i kept asking we should take her to the vet. i didn't get much answers on that . I thought I should have taken her to the vet Tuesday when she wasn't eating at all..but hey...I feel bad that I really missed out on possibly saving her. Its been about 3 weeks since the loss and I still feel bad about it , im still sad , and i still miss her . I have other cats and they come around a lot more then they used to when she was here and alive . She was not a social cat at all , maybe that's part of why i feel like i didn't spend so much time with her as I wish i could have. Its really hard to let go . When she was alive it seemed like I really didn't notice her much , she`d come in my room and lay on my pillow and sleep and id cuddle . She`d lay on my bed and all .I guess its true what they say , you dont know what you have `till its gone? oh and I'm wondering if the vets could really save her...like if i took her to the vet would she be alive at this moment ? Because I know an aunt she had a dog and her dog had the same problem ..she took`em to the vet hospital and got him on machines and medicine and it still didn't work out at all . He ended up passing away that night , all the good it did for my aunt was that she had to pay big money just for one lousy night in the hospital . Im just angry about it.. sad.gif and one of the worst parts about it I keep thinking about it and that's all I do ..constantly reminding my self over and over again. sad.gif
