I would just like to post a few words for a kitty named Bed, Breakfast & Evening Meal, at least that whom I think it is.

Last night coming home from a meal out we found a cat laying in the road, we stopped so we could check to see if he was still alive. He had just a few seconds earlier been hit by a car, his body was still warm and blood was just starting to come from his nose, but alas we were too late, he had already passed. I scooped him up in my arms and wrapped him up in a blanket that luckily I had in the car and then went to try and find out who he belonged to. After gently putting him in the car I called on all the nearby houses trying to see if he had an owner, he wasn't wearing a collar but looked well looked after. No one who was home had lost a cat so I brought him home and decided to try again in the morning.

After trying almost all the houses on that stretch of road I came across a lady who thought she knew him and told me he could be the kitty she had regularly been feeding who she called Bed, Breakfast & Evening Meal. She had been feeding 3 stray cats but hadn't seen BB&EM for about 3 days and said it sounds like him.

I have put up 'Found' posters with his description and a contact number in case someone calls today if not I can assume it is him. Tommorrow I will lay him to rest in the orchard knowing that he was loved a little, looked after, well sort of, and someone cared for him in his death. He was a beautiful cat, and didn't deserve to be left laying in the road or at the roadside. He looks very my like my Lucy.

I'm sorry that he had no real home but now his little body will always have a home in my orchard.

Rest in peace Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal, I didn't know you in life but I have known you briefly in death, so you deserve a few words to be said from someone who cared.

Oh, Debbie, how heartbreaking! What you're doing is SO good and although it's not likely anyone will come forward (cuz this poor guy probably was a stray), I'm so glad to hear you're making the right, moral and ethical effort to try and let any possible family know. I know it's probably going to be so tough burying him, but at least you can take comfort from knowing you're doing him the honour of giving his body a proper place to rest.

The thankfully very few times I've seen a cat laying on the hwy. dead around here, my H has refused to stop (he can be very heartless and selfish at times and I hate that!), but I do always see wild animals (deer, coyotes, skunks, smaller rodents, porcupines, foxes, birds of all sorts, etc.) dead by the side or even still on the road, many smashed to pieces, and I always call the angels to make sure they're escorted to the Light and helped to get over their trauma and possibly confusion when they've had to leave their bodies so suddenly. I always hope their passing was swift and as painless as possible (and under my breathe, secretly curse the idiots who weren't watching for them in the first place, even though I know it can sometimes be impossible to avoid....often add a prayer, too, to make whoever hit them more AWARE and cautious from now on!)

Rest easy and in total peace, surrounded by great love, little BB & EM. May all your own angels lead you gently and surely to the Light from which you came and help you to heal ALL earthly scars from your time here, keep you company with all the other creatures who are beside you now, and hold your soul in eternal Grace. And may OUR love and compassion reach you and aid you in your continuing journey, too. wub.gif sad.gif

Wow EM, what a lovely gesture, he as all animal friends deserve to be honored as you have this little pal, your kindness does not go unnoticed, we learn from the kindness of others, I hope that I can do the same for a dog or cat if I came across a similar situation. It's wonderful of you to send him with such love and care. Thank You.

I think love is one of those things that transcend.

So the love that you give him now is at least as important, if not more important, as the love that we can perhaps assume he lacked while he was here in earnest.
