I feel so sad this morning, I had to make a last vet appointment for my big bad wolf, hybred Ziggy. I knew this day was coming but it still doesn't make it any easier. Seems that all my babies that I have had to say goodbye to I have to make the choice for them as I can't stand to see them hurt. He would be 14 the end of December and it just seems like yesterday when I brought him home. He will make the third boy I have had to see over to the bridge and I am hoping that the other two, Jacob and Smokey are there to meet him as he crosses over. I just can't believe that it is time to say goodbye. :-(

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am 9 days past having to put my cat Babe down. It was the most hardest and horrible thing I ever had to do, but it was best for her. My thoughts are with you.

Dear LouAnn,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your wolfman Ziggy. Words are hard to come by when the sadness is so new. Wishing you love and light.

This is such a tough place to be for you, I know. Sometimes our final act of love for our babies is our most difficult but also our most unselfish. I'm so sorry and my heart goes out to you.

Here is a poem for you at this difficult time.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this--the last battle--can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
Don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so.
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me til the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close--we two--these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Thank you to all for your kind words and support, this makes the third boy I have had to say goodbye to and it just never seems to get any easier. My big bad wolf rolleyes.gif went home to rainbow bridge yesterday at 5:15 and I still can't believe he is gone, but at least he got to out the proud man he was and didn't have to go on in his old body anymore. He was a christmas puppy so many years ago and this christmas is not going to be the same. We got to handle him since he was a week old and had lived with us from 5 weeks of age. I got to go to work today and I just don't feel like being my old chirper self today, just so sad.

LouAnn6, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it is never easy to make that painful decision. I also had to make that decision and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life. Like others who stated to me, I believe that as their guardians as their protectors that we have the obligation to end their suffering when the time comes. Even if it means that we take on the suffering after. I'm sorry you had to say good bye to wolf. Sending you a cyber hug. Take care k9pal
