Hello Again..

Well my beloved 15 year old cat Calvin is sick. He has been diabetic for the last 6 years. I have been giving him insulin shots twice a day for those years and he was doing fine. A few months ago he decided that he wasnt going to be diabetic anymore (the honeymoon as some people call it) Now he goes in and out of it and it can not be controlled. Plus I can not afford to have the vet try and regulate him. Today I have to take him to see the vet because he has been vomiting for 3 days now. He cant keep his food down:-((( I dont know what to do. Do I go into debt to try and save him.. he might not be able to be regulated with insulin.. or do I say goodbye?? I don't know what to do:-(((

Dear bulesSTL, I wish I had the wisdom to tell you what to do, but I don't, so I will tell you what my vet told me when my Tiger was nearing the end. She asked us if continuing care was for her or for us. To be truly fair to our dear friends was must be unfair to ourselves. Only you can make that decision, but do it after considering everything pertinent. And go back to my vets question.

I hope that helps you. You and Calvin are in my prayers

Dear bluest1, I am very sorry that your beloved Calvin isn't doing too well. You must be a super great mom to have been able to control Calvin's diabetes for six years, I know that you have a wonderful heart and you will follow it as always. Big hugs, Calvin is lucky to be in your care. We love them so.

Hi Bluestl,
It is hard when they get sick and aren't feeling well. Talk to your vet and see what he thinks is best in his opinion. If he strongly thinks that Calvin can be regulated and his diabetes be treated and controlled with little to no discomfort then I would consider letting him do it. I understand about the money thing too. Doctors are pretty good at working with us financially challenged ones. wink.gif

Just follow your loving heart and you won't go wrong.

Take care
John

Thank You for your kind words. But today I lost my buddy. He was just to sick. I know that I would have spent the money, because in the end it is only money and can be replaced. Nothing can ever replace my Calvin.

I'm so sorry.
