My other dog, Falkor is having a health problems too. He may have hip dysplasia or arthritis. He is going for more tests in July. For now he's on a medication to help with the pain.
I am not surprised about Falkor, he's had trouble for years. It sounds like whatever he has is treatable, but I'm still very worried.

Actually I realise this is in the wrong forum. It should be in "sickness support." I just posted here because I'm still so sad about Luba.

i moved it for ya
dysplasia is pretty common, especially in larger breeds. golden retrievers almost always seem to get it
one way or another. as in humans, it is highly treatable with medication and diet. your vet will reassure
you im sure.

Hi Ginger, thanks for asking. He's going in for further testing on July 22. For now they have put him on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. He seems to have improved on it.
It's so weird. Falkor has been my "miracle dog". He has been plagued by a variety of ongoing health problems all his life (seizures, bad lungs, weak legs, thyroid imbalance etc). He was badly beaten as a pup too. He continues to amaze me in how he just seems to enjoy life no matter what gets thrown at him. When he's happy he "sings" it's really cute.
Luba never had a sick day in her life. Only one injury when she ripped one of her nails off while tearing through the bushes after a squirrel.
Life will surprise us with some things that are great such as: Falkor doing so well despite the odds (at one point we thought he wouldn't make it 5 years old). Other things are so devastating: I thought Luba would reach AT LEAST 13, not NINE!!!
I guess I should focus on the positve...
