My other post on Majik was getting soooo long, I thought I'd put these pictures in a new post. Majik is 6 months old now, and really too cute.
I know this took a while. Sorry Alley's Mama.
I talked in my other post about how he 'found' a fuzzy pen and decided to make it his. When he carries it by the top you almost can't see his face. He has to hop everywhere with it. It's too funny. Here is a picture of him playing with it. (Yes all the toys are his):

He is an 'up' kitty, the higher the better. Here he is on top of the kitchen cabinets:

And in the washing machine, The 'little round bed', LOL:

Here is Majik and Autumn together, about as close as she will let him come:

He is getting big, so long. You can see the difference in the pictures here. A couple of months makes such a difference. He is so, so soft too. His fur is getting longer every day, I love it. I'll give him lots of kisses from you, I love giving kisses!

What a beautiful Wee Beastie! I love black cats I grew up with one there so cool! We got our new Wee Beastie only two weeks after Leo died. It helps so much to have a kitten around.
The washing machine pic is just to cute!. They get into the darnedest places.

My goodness! Majik sure IS growing up fast! And Heavens....he DOES look so much like Alley, doesn't he?!?! Yes, that washing machine pic is so cute...although I know I'd be bangin' on the sides of it to scare him out forevermore, I'd be so paranoid that something terrible might happen around those machines (remembering someone here who mistakenly washed or dried her cat cuz she failed to check inside before doing a load!! I've already blocked out the details, I was so horrified). Sorry to spoil the mood, but I just HAD to put that warning out there cuz I'd hate to see anything like that happen to precious Majik, too!
Back to nicer stuff -> I'll bet that w/i a year, Autumn will have warmed up to Majik and we'll see pics of them snuggled up close to each other!

Hey, maybe that's why Autumn took off for awhile the other day. Maybe she's been a little jealous of the newer family member and needed to know that she was still just, or even more, important to her mom and dad than the new 'interloper'?
I LOVE that fuzzy pen, and is it EVER big and fuzzy! No WONDER he can't keep his paws off of it! You still have to try and get a frontal pic of him when he's got it in his mouth....if you can quit laughing long enough to hold the camera!
Great pics - worth the wait!

I'm so happy your new guy is working out. They do get into the darnest places. Thanks for saying he is beautiful. We sure think so.

Ya know I thought about putting something up about how careful we are with him. We know he likes the washer, and the dryer gives me nightmares. So we check a lot. If I can't find him, he's in the washer. I've been leaving the lid up because if he gets on top of the washer, he jumps down behind. He can't get out of there and needs help, and I can't be sure I'll be right there. Plus he comes out covered with lint! Lid up he justs gets in the washer and he can get himself out.
I am praying they get to like each other, that would be great. She was never 'best friends' with Moose, they did okay but no sleeping together or anything. Majik is just appaled that she is a cat and doesn't like him. He keeps trying to cuddle her and getting slapped off, and hissed at. I think it's getting better....
If he can stop hopping with the pen in his mouth, I'll try to stop laughing and get a pic! It's too funny.

Oh, LOL!! Yes, this IS one of the reasons I've always preferred shorthairs to longhairs! It's WAY easier to help keep them clean and tidy...not that my guys usually needed any help anyway, they were both pretty meticulous in their grooming, especially Nissa. But I brushed and combed them weekly regardless. And if they happened to get something stuck in or on their fur, it was easier to either soap and rinse out, or clip off. Though you should have heard the YOWLING if we had to wash off mud or something from Nissa's feet! YIKES! You'd have thought we were asking her to let us remove her EARS or something!

SHE could play with water, but that privilege was reserved for ONLY her discretion!

Oh I just love long hair cats. Of course they are more work. I brush mine every day. I have had one of each for a while, Butch had long hair and Alex had short. Moose had long and Autumn short, now Majik has long fur. The short hair babies get a good brushing once a week.
I make brush time part of love time. Sitting and loving and brushing, the guys with long hair actually get to looking forward to it. They do have to have some fur cut off once in a while, it's eaiser to cut than brush out some things.

Alley didn't like to be brushed much, except for her head and neck, and sometimes her belly. Anything near her backside was off limits! lol
Even though she had really long fur, she never got tangles or mats. I know most long hair cats do and I'm not sure what it was about her fur (some kind of breed throwback?) but it was always soft and smooth. Her sister Stinky was the same way.
p.s. I'm around, have been reading all the threads, just have a lot of stuff going on right now, apt hunting, car in shop, nervous breakdown, you know, the usual! So if I don't post, don't think I have forgotten anyone. I read each thread. I just don't seem to have the energy to post much right now.

The kitty I have now, although bursting with hysterical personality, isn't very lovey-dovey at all...I actually get quite jealous hearing all the stories of how wonderfully affectionate everyone elses kitties are

. Anyway, My guy
loves to be brushed...if he sees that brush he's right up your butt

My neighbor came over one day and was sitting on our couch...out of nowhere, my kitty came running...jumped up on the back of the couch (still running) and as he ran behind her, he kicked out like a jack rabbit and kicked her in the head...then just kept running

...I told you, full of hysterical personality!! I wish I knew what he was thinking sometimes

With some cats you have to take love on their terms. If brushing gets you love, brush a LOT. Works for me. While my Autumn can be very loving and sweet, it has to be in her time and on her terms.

Thank you so much...HE thinks so ,too

!! His name...well....his
given name is Iaasic, but he has never been
called that a day in his life

! We call him...ready for this...."B". Yep, his name is "B"

! He was a rescue that I bottle fed from only 9 days old, and I called him 'Mommy's wittle bitty kitty ". As he got older I called him my "wittle bitty boy". That turned somehow into "bitty b". Now just "B". I'm sure we all know the routine of how they can be labeled with the strangest names

! That is why I never type his name in reference to him here...I knew people would thinking 'what the heck kinda name is B

We also call him bitty beepers, and kiiiiiiiiiiiitty

! But I always say "
B"

when he is in trouble....which is most of the time

I have a Majik story I have to share. This morning I was feeling a little off, maybe like I was getting a cold or something. So I was sitting in my chair in the living room just being grouchy and spacy. Majik was playing in the kitchen and I looked down at his food dish on the floor. He had eaten all his food sometime before but there was something in the dish. I looked closer and it was a 'play mousie'! LOL like he was telling me what he WANTED to eat.
I started to laugh and my day went from blah to happy, just like that. What a blessing a this guy is. Non pet people just never get stuff like this in their lives.

Lori, I love watching Majik grow up. He is such a beautiful boy. I love the washing machine. He's an up high kitty too. Was Moose an up high kitty? Seems like either they are or they're not. Nickels was a definate floor kitty. He DID jump out of our two story window after we moved in with my Husband. I was shocked. Must have taken a bad jar but he seemed fine. We didn't think he'd do it again and sure enough when we were cleaning the screens he attempted, but we stopped him, to do it again.
To early to tell if Frankee is an up high kitty. He's developing some long legs.
Have you checked out the site: www.stuffonmycat.com? It's pretty funny. Majik looks like he would be a good candidate. He is just cuddly good looking.

Thanks! We think Majic is a beautiful boy too. He came from the shelter very skinny and matted, looked bad. We didn't know he would become so beautiful, but we did know we could make him fatter. He filled out in a week at our house. He was a fuzzy kitty who now has the most beautiful fur.
Moose was NOT a high kitty, he had short legs. We called him our "low rider" lol. He did most things low to the ground. He even needed a boost for counters and such. Seemed like someone was always around to boost him up and lift him down.

Lori,
It's my opinion and I'm sure some will disagree, but shelter kitties are the best. Kind of a grab bag. Don't know what you'll get in the long range with no history, but every day is a surprise. And the "makeovers" are worth the effort. Did you get pre-makeover pictures?
I love the new pictures. We all may not live in the same state but it's so fun to watch the babies grow up across the miles. O.K. My favorite picture of Majik is the dishwasher pic. That's the same look I get on my face when I see a sink full of dishes.. Good boy Majik. No more dirty dishes! We just got the last load finished and put away!
Moose and Nickels would have gotten along. Nickels had short "bulldog" legs. Unless there was a chair (our chairs around our island stove...mmm...chicken..hamburger...) he wouldn't investigate.
Majik is such a precious boy! Absolutely precious! Michelle

Little Guy's Mom
Thanks so much. I have seen your Little Guy. I'm so very sorry you lost him. He is a very beautiful cat. Black cats are great! Keeper was such a handsome boy too.
We lost our Moose kitty a year ago, but we still have his sister Autumn. She just had her 11th birthday. Moose and Autumn were about the same age, it's so odd to have one 11 and one that is just about to turn a year old. Poor little Moose was only 10 when we lost him.
It helps your heart to have one to hold and love. It's not like you stop missing and mourning the one you lost, but it's nice to have a kitty to use as a kleenex. I've wipped more tears on the top of my guys heads.
When we lost Moose I was so scared we might lose Autumn, and I could not come home to a no kitty house. That must be so hard for you. I know my husband wasn't really ready for a new boy, Moose was his "special guy". I was so lucky that he was willing to try again. Majik came to us just one month after Moose passed.
I think my husband learned 11 years ago when we lost two beautiful cats within 5 weeks that a house just really isn't a home without a cat in it. My Butch passed 11 years ago and just three days later I brought Autumn home. It was so lucky I did, my Alex passed a month later. Our two cat home became a one kitten home so fast, I wasn't ready. My husband thought that Autumn was enough but for me I couldn't go from a two cat home to a one kitten. So a couple of months after Alex passed I saw a kitten in a pet store and brought it home. It took Moose about a month to make daddy fall in love. :-)
Maybe you can work out a compromise with your husband, he want's a year, maybe 6 months? I'm wishing you great luck, I don't know how you are making it. Losing one is so hard, but not to have a new baby to look forward to? Sending good wishes your way.

Thanks for the reply. I really enjoyed reading it all. My husband has no time frame, all he says is it is too soon and he is not ready yet and if I do bring one home I alone will be responsible for it. It is important to me that he take part in welcoming a new one so I will wait a while longer. It has been about 9 weeks but he remembers worrying so much every morning whether Little Guy would eat or not that day. We had a daily worry for about 2 months trying to figure out what was going wrong. He wants a rest from that worry. I tried to remind him we had 16 years of no worry and only the last 8 weeks of worry so if I get a new one, we are starting out in the good area which can easily last for years of enjoyment and love. I keep showing him pictures on this site and he saw your new one, which made him smile, so I will keep working on him. I would like him to go with me to our local no-kill shelter and just sit in the kitty room and see who is curious about both of us. They have a pair of twin 7 month old boys (not black). I think about each of us paying our attention to our own special one so he does not feel left out when a kitty wants my lap (Moms always get the best attention, don't they?) instead of his. But then I used to pick them up and hug them all the time. He likes to comb and pet them but doesn't pick them up. I put them in my lap as kittens.
Anyway, thanks for the words. If he said the word, we would get one very quickly. I'm hoping it is that way. Else there will come a time I will just go and get one but I would like to try waiting for him and working on him (smile).
