Hi All,
just came across this site and was happy to find it. Yesterday I had to put my poor dog Bram to sleep. I only had Bram since this past December. I had seen him on petfinders.org. He was rescued by two women that went into shelters and took dogs out that were going to be euthanized. He was an older dog (about 10+ the vet said but we'll never know for sure). He had severe dry eye and warts all over him. He was a shih-tzu mix and pretty sad looking when I got him and the women told me he was next in line that day to be killed. But I was happy they took him because on Dec. 20th, my 39th b-day, I went and adopted him.
He was a really good boy, very gentle and quiet and didn't require much at all. 2 days after I got him, I had to rush him back to the vets because he was sick with kennel cough. He got better from that and seemed to be thriving so much.
But for the past month he had been having diarrhea on and off and wasn't eating good. My vet did an ultrasound and found a tumor in his intestine. He rapidly went down hill and the night before last he was so sick, I knew it was time to take him. He looked so bad and couldn't even stand up. He wasn't even able to hold down baby food. I fed him some the night before and he was up all that night vomiting the little bit he ate right back up.
So yesterday I took him to the vet. It was so awful but I stayed with him and he went so peacefully. I think he was just too tired anymore. I feel very bad but I am also relieved he is not sick anymore.
Last month I also lost my beautiful baby ferret Holly. She was only 4 months old and was also very ill. It has been two very difficult months for my pets. I hope all the rest will be ok. Thanks for listening! Margaret I made a page on my website with both of their pictures if anyone would like to take a look. It's http://www.geocities.com/skyflyer1263/rain...nbowbridge.html

Hi sky what a lovely person you are adopting Bram and saving his life.
I'm sorry that he was so ill in the last month but it must have been wonderful for him to have someone to love and look after him after spending so much time in the kennels, and to have someone with him at the end that cared for and loved him.
I loved your web page especially the angel, after the pictures of Bram and Holly of course.
I lost my two dogs three months apart and know how painful it is to have a pet you love so much put to sleep, the hardest decision to make, the hardest decision to go ahead with and the hardest thing to live with after.
For you to adopt an older dog knowing that you will be together only a short time and have to go through the heartache of losing him all too soon makes you a very special person.
Take care

Margaret, I am so sorry for your losses. I think its doubly hard when you lose two...
Their web site is precious. Thank you for being such a good mom, and for sharing with us.

Margaret, I am so sorry for your loss. I looked on your website and the photos of Holly and Bram are really cute. It is tragic that you only had them both for such a short time. It was particularly sad that Bram did not have more time to enjoy all the love and affection after the hardship he had been through.

My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry you lost them. They are ADORABLE!!! I know that they are playing and chasing and running somewhere near the Bridge - waiting for the day when we'll all cross together...

My heart breaks with yours.
