I finally got around with a picture of Nikki to post. Just wanted to show everybody my beautiful baby. This was taken this past Christmas. She was helping me decorate the tree. I can't believe it has been 5 weeks since she left us. I miss her so much. I still have her bed - I put it in the basement - but I go touch it evey day and it still has her smell on it. I finally gave all her dog food away. We had just bought a 40 pound bag the day before she died. She should hae been with us for another 2 years at least. The vet had just given her a clean bill of health a few weeks before Christmas. They did a complete check up with blood work and we were told she had the blood of a puppy. How could they say that and less then 2 months later she died??!!? We have to go pick up her ashes at the vets - I have many questions for them. I keep putting it off because I don't know if I can compose myself enough to talk to them.

Nikki is beautiful. From what I can see, she's a very noble looking young lady.
If you can't bring yourself to talk about her with your vet right now, pick up the ashes, and go back at a later time and talk when you're feeling more composed. Be aware, though, that there may never be a time when you'll ever be completely objective and unemotional - she was a member of your family, after all - but you have questions, valid ones, and as a client and someone who loved your pet, you deserve answers. They may be hard to hear, take plenty of Kleenex, and maybe make an appointment, but get your answers. Your life may not be easier for asking or hearing or not hearing the answers - the vet may not know, or it may be a genetic issue - but you'll know that you did what you could to find out.
Take care - Barb

Oh your Nikki was so beautiful. Thank you for letting us 'see' her. They are so cute when they 'help' us. Things may take longer with their help, but it's so much more fun. You must miss her so much, I'm sorry again that you lost her.

What a beautiful dog. I too love it when they are helpful, especially when you are trying to sweep or something.
I agree with Barb...very noble looking. Thank you for sharing her picture. I'll be sending good thoughts her way.
