We got him on valentine's day. Been so busy I have had little time to go on the computer. He is not as vocal as Leo was but instead has a quiet 'purt-purt-purt' vocalization that is so funny. He has already helped to mend our hearts. Will not be the same as Leo but he is already pretty unique in other ways. Nala has warmed up to him, Sugar is curious but aloof, Katie wants to be friends but her big doggie presence just scares him right now.. to her disappointment smile.gif

What a gorgeous little fellow wub.gif ! He has such long whiskers and I love his front mittens tongue.gif . Too cute!

What a gorgeous fuzzy little guy! He is just too sweet! That's a wonderful Valentine's present for you guys. I know he is not Leo, and will never "take his place" but I'm sure he has tons of special qualities all his own and you will get to know and love them over time, the same as you did with Leo in the beginning. What did you name him?

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!

What a handsome guy he is. I can tell he's gonna be quite the character. biggrin.gif Let me wish you many happy and joyous years together.

Oh he is just the best valentine I can think of! What a handsome guy, I love the whiskers and mittens. I want to know what his name is too, of course. Give him a kiss from me. I so hope he's great friends with your hubby already, a baby helps. Tell Katie to give him time.

Hi Everyone,

We named our new little guy, Cosmo. And he is very sweet! It's still hard getting over Leo but Cosmo helps. He's got alot of Maine coon in him so he's goin to be fuzzy. Our first cat was a maine coon so we know how fuzzy and beautiful they are. You cant see it in the pic but he has four white paws and he's a silver tabby. Really a handsome guy! He's 11 weeks old and is all full of himself. I forgot how much energy kittens have WOW! Still he's so much help to have around. Hes coming out of his shell so we'll see what his personality is like. He likes to sleep with us. On the pillow between me and Tracy and purr. We'll keep you posted and send more pics of him and the girls along.
Thanks.

What a beautiful little valentine! Congratulations.

He is now in his 'terrible-two' stage smile.gif He jumps up on tables and knocks things off, attacks the hanging houseplants and on a couple of occasions thought that people's legs were for climbing tongue.gif
I forgot what it is like to have a baby in the house, he sure does keep us on our toes!

He had a busy week, on Monday we took him to the vet for a first checkup, he didn't mind too much until they had to draw a blood sample from his forepaw. Poor little guy let out a long 'nooooooo' cry, he spent most of the time home cuddling when we got back home.. thankful to be back. Just yesterday we took him in for professional pictures. The photographer is very patent with animals and she took little 'time-out' sessions to talk to and pet him and let him explore the studio. She has done numerous photos of puppies and dogs and cats but this is the first young kitten, so she was clearly enjoying this session.

Here is a recent one of him relaxing after a morning of being a little feline terrorist tongue.gif

Your Cosmo is just the cutest little thing! He is sooooooooo pretty and I can tell he's going to have somewhat long hair will be just a beautiful cat. He has certainly made himself right at home hasnt he! I'm so glad that you have him there with you. I know you still miss Leo, and you always will, but there is room in your heart for both of them smile.gif

I still have 4 months left before I move and can get a kitty sad.gif I feel so darn lost without one. Nobody can ever be as special as my girl Alley, but it would be nice to have a little furry body to cuddle up with at nights.

Hello Everyone,

We found out that Cosmo is a Maine coon. Both parents are. ALLRIGHT!. My first cat after I moved out of my parents house was a Maine coon. Tigger! Cosmo reminds me ALOT of Tigger.
Those Coon cats are really awesome! He's personaility is starting to shine. What a little lover.
Very affectionate. After his mane comes in then he'll be really handsome. I was looking on line and it says these cats dont mature for 3 to 4 years. WOW. Thanks for listening.

Wow great news! Maine Coon cats are so beautiful and have great personalities. The most loving and best cat who ever owned me was a Maine Coon. If fact it can take them up to 5 years to be "full grown". You are so lucky to have him, and he is to have you.

laugh.gif That is so true, in our furbabies minds, THEY own us biggrin.gif

When I take my Katie out for walks I can imagine her thinking 'look at all the other dogs taking their people out for walkies' smile.gif

Dear Macguy,
Cosmo is so beautiful.
But please get him checked out for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, this is a heart disease that Maine Coons, especially males, have an inherited gene for. You can check it out on the Maine Coon websites & if he's closely monitored every year it shouldn't be a problem. I don't mean to worry you, but this disease is what took my darling Furry at only 12 years old, & if we could have found out sooner then the treatment might have prolonged her life. How I wish she was here now.
Cosmo - I wish he was here with me!

I am very happy for you and your new baby. They can be quite a handful when they are young. A lot of fun, though.

I must confess, with all of the heartbreak that I have suffered over the last 3 years, I am a little envious of your baby. First, because his name is Cosmo, and second, because he looks like a grayish version of my Cosmo. You'll see my Mo's pic in my avatar, and I'll put in another in this post.
One reason that we brought our Mo home in 1995, was because he so closely resembled our Maine Coon cat that my H rescued and moved into his parents house where he lived a happy life. My H always wanted a kitty like him, so we fell for our Mo.

Congrats on your new soul to love.

He reminds me so much of Mo, it's a bit painful.
I don't mean to make you feel bad, but your thread caught me off guard.

Peace, Love, and Prayers,
Michelle

Here is another pic I found of our Mo. I think alot of our pics are on backup discs, so I need to get to them for myself to see. That is all I have left to look at.
This is a pic showing some of the "mane" you were referring to. I also have some great ones in regular photo form, but I am not sure if a scan will do them justice, so they are in the family album.

Enjoy your Cosmo, as I loved and enjoyed mine for every second he was with me.

Oh I am so sorry Michelle! sad.gif My gosh the similarities , the white paws & name.. plus Michelle is my second daughters name. He was a handsome boy and I am fortunate to have a little guy who will hopefully grow up to be as handsome has he was.

My husband had Tigger, a Maine Coon many years ago, he was a young teen when his family got him and when he moved out he got to take Tigger with him. Tigger passed away when our firstborn daughter was a toddler, he was a gentle giant of a cat.

Thanks furrys mom for the health check reminder, I am hoping that he will stay in good health. That does have me worrying.
Macguy
Well, Cosmo's personality is really shinning! He likes to jump up on everyones shoulder and give kitty kisses and purr. Nala and Sugar have gotten use to him. So now you here Cosmo going "purrt prrrt" chasing them through the house. Much to there chagrin. The picture of Tigger that my wife posted is the only good picture of him I have.

Mosmommy,

I went online and have found out about the heart condition that Maine coons have. Thanks!
We will have him checked for it. Its unbelievable how much your Mo and our Cosmo are alike!
What a beautiful little boy you had there! I can empathize with you on your loss.

Cosmo is so cute! I am so happy for you guys! What a sweetie!!!!

I remember reading Leo's story, I am so glad you found Cosmo. Wish we had the strength to do the same.........

Keep us posted on cosmo!

Hi Everyone!

Cosmo has grown quiet abit! He's as big as Nala. About 10" tall at the shoulder. And he's only 5 months old. He's going to be a BIG boy. And the Maine is coming in It's soo cute. I'll send some pics shortly. After getting castrated he's not chasing the girls around as much. Which Sugar real likes. And He's turned into a very affectionated little boy! He likes to sit on my shoulder and purr and kiss me when I walk around the house. We'll see how long that works as he gets bigger. He has a very faint meow. You can hardly hear him. Which strange for us because with Leo there was no faint meows. If He meowed upstiars you could hear him in the basement.

When we frist got Cos I wasn't sure I could bond with another cat. Leo was my best buddie!. I didn't want to disrepect him. Even I though it may have been a little to soon. But much to my surprise I was wrong. And now I am very happy with my little Mo.

In hindsight getting Cosmo was the BEST thing I could have done at the time. He's really helped me get over Leo. I would STRONGLY suggest getting a different animal to anyone that has lost one. They don't replace your lost furry baby but they sure do help fill that void!

Thanks for listening! Alan,
Macguy

I was wondering if you could post some of the professional pictures of Cosmo? And how did you find the photographer? Cosmo is gorgeous by the way.

Cosmo is just so gorgeous, very handsome. I'm so happy to hear he is giving you so many loves, that is so nice. Thank you for the updates and the pictures, it's just so nice to hear of a great cat in a great home. The pictures are wonderful, but he is so beautiful they would have to be.

They really help "fill the void" as you put it.

Here's one more. And I will keep posting pics until he's fill grown. Right now he's sitting on my lap totally interested in the CD tray on the computer. "It goes in and out" Some times the simplest things grab their attention. Its so cute!
