The 3rd picture is Alley's older sister from a previous litter, same mother and father, "Stinky" (named by my son when he was small!). Stinky was going to live with my stepsister and travel cross country with her back to Massachussetts. Unfortunately, my stepsister wasn't as bright as some, and at the first stop managed to let Stinky get off the leash and get away. It was raining and she ran off into the woods behind the gas station. They looked for a long time but as scared as she was, she wouldn't have come out of hiding. She was a sweet kitty, who deserved better than to be left to starve or die on the highway. I called the store and had them post a notice with my number, etc. but it was too far for me to visit myself. I like to think that maybe she found a good home somewhere and was taken care of. Its probably not true, but thinking of the alternatives keeps me up nights.
The 4th picture is Smokey. I had Smokey for about 6 months and it became obvious that he needed more attention than I could give him, having 2 other cats already. He was the most loving, snuggling little boy ever. My brother visiting from Florida fell in love with him and ended up taking him home. He DID make the trip just fine and they had him for 6 joyful years until illness took him from their lives.
I like to think that maybe these three, who were siblings and roomies at one time in their life, are maybe keeping eachother company over the rainbow bridge now. They were each special in their own way, none more so than my baby girl Alley, and I miss them all.

Rest in peace babies.
