Those 'anniversary' dates are so hard, especially that first one a year later. My compassion goes out to you. The week before Christmas for the first two years were I felt the hurting after my cat Pj, crossed the rainbow bridge, as it is said.

I have this theory basicly about the first three anniversary dates. The first one is definetly the absolute worst anniversay, because who's to say the healing has even occoured yet.

The second sneaks up on you. Likely by this point, you've healed but, still you remember the day is if it were the prior one. There isn't the same anxiety about it but it is depressing.

The third, at least in my theory, is the first anniversery day when you can look at it and say, "My pet is not with me. I miss him. I wish he was here. I still love him but, I have made it this far and can each year. What fond memories." It is the first one that is when one can smile over the good times much easier than the previous two.

Then again, that could just be me. Everyone is different of coarse and I am not always right. However this does not change the fact I hope that you are able to get through this anniversery date not forgetting the good times and what you brought to the your dog's life and what your dog's life brought to you.

Be well.
