Precious' mom
Patches is joining my household tomorrow! I have already purchased new things (scratching post, brush, food, toys, cat sand) but am retaining some of Precious' things (water and food bowls, cat box, cat carrier, beds) because they are usable. I don't forsee any problems, everything has been washed and disinfected. Does anyone have any advice about a new pet adapting to a previous pet's things, does it make any difference or will he just adapt? You can tell I've had only one!!
Any advice much appreciated!!

Congrats on your new furbaby! I thought about this too....I was more worried about cat smells around the house and carpets. My new cat Ginger adapted well with no issues. I did replace most things, but kept the litter box (but I use a liner) and the cat bed. I did think I needed to replace the food and water dish - maybe more for me so it looked different.

Everything is going well, but I am working on the biting and scratching phase of a young cat! I was just reading up on this - when they get so overly excited.

It is a BIG change for me to have such an active kitty after living with a geriatic cat. I had to lock her out of the bedroom last night - she kept wanting to play!

biggrin.gif You too? Patches is a fast one but SOOOOO sweet. He came home this afternoon (Saturday) and is presently hiding under my sleigh bed because there was a bad storm with lots of scary thunderclaps, and zoom he went so he's still there for now but should be out soon. He has charmed my dad but made enemies with the two rent-a-cats (lots of hissy fits) but this may calm down with time.
This is too scary: Patches' foster mum showed me his litter box...same brand and colour (blue) as Precious'!
Ginger is a real doll and I hope she is helping ease the pain of your loss. Patches is working on me!!

Yes, it is fun and eases the pain. Cleo is still in my heart, but there is lots of room for another one!

I am delighted each day at some of the new things Ginger does.

Post a pick of Patches soon!

I will!! Hopefully tonight if I can upload them to this group. I keep trying to put a picture of Precious on my profile so everyone can see him (I really enjoy seeing everyone's babies!!) but for some reason cannot. Too many pixels maybe? I'll keep trying!!!
