Hi, I just found your website. I hope anyone can help. My cat has a fibrosarcoma tumor that has now become ulcerated. I did not seek treatment for her due to her nature. I'm aware of all the treatments and or surgeries etc, but right now I'm having a hard time making a decision. I've never had to do this before. Her tumor has started bleeding and leaking. She just started wearing an Ecollar. I know that if I don't do something, it's gonna get ugly. I fully understand. I have a hard time with going ahead with any kind of surgery that isn't going to offer me any guarantee.(and not great odds). On the other hand I am equally perplexed and heartbroken on the thought of putting her to sleep. Missy is still full of life and does everything normal this is what is making my decision so hard. I'm also struggling with the euthanasia itself, because my cat has a very combative nature at the vet and I don't want this to be her last memory, or mine. I'm having a really hard time dealing with this. Any suggestions? I've been crying for two days, this is sooo hard.

I am so sorry for you and your kitty.
Maybe a 2nd opinion and then perhaps consider a mobile vet service if you must.
good luck and you are in my prayers..

Sorry to hear about your cat's tumor....only you know what is best for her. I personally believe extraordinary efforts are way more stressful on the cat...
There are vets who will make house calls. You can ask a vet for a sedative too to help relax your baby first.
Euthanisia is the last act of love. I took care of my cat for almost 1 yr and dealt with many unpleasant things. I finally knew it was time. I was gratefull for every extra day I received. I knew his quality of life was going down hill.
Trust your intuition.

My boy was diagnosed with a FibroSarcoma tumor at 9 years old. We had it removed, the rehab was fairly simple and he lived another 4 healthy years. But, you have to take into consideration your cat's health now. You will make the right decision, that is what she trusts you to do.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. An update on Missy: I have taken her to another vet. He insisted that we remove the tumor, and we have. He is very optimistic that she will be fine. I'm still waiting on pathology reports to ensure that all the margins were clean and all the tumor was removed. I really made a poor choice in a vet the first time and I was very misinformed. This new vet that I have was very informative. I even got to watch my girl have her surgery. Thanks again, and I wish you all the best for you and your beloved pets.
