Hi--My husband is Catholic and I am not. He just told me that it's okay to euthanize an animal because they don't have immortal souls. He said they don't go to heaven and I refuse to believe that way. Do all Catholics believe that animals don't go to heaven? I am hurting so badly because I love Brandi so much and I know she doesn't have long here. My heart wants to believe that someday I will be with all my babies in heaven or else why would God have brought them to me in the first place. Can you help me?

Thanks,
Jyl

HI!!! I JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I AM CATHOLIC AND ANIMALS DO GO TO HEAVEN. ANIMALS ARE ONE OF GODS CREATIONS, SO REMEMBER THAT. TODAY IS 3 WEEKS SINCE CHARLIE HAS BEEN GONE AND HIS BROTHER GIZMO HAS BEEN GONE 2 YEARS AND I KNOW THEY ARE BOTH LOOKING DOWN ON ME FROM ABOVE!!! SO REST ^^URED THAT YOUR BABY WILL DO THE SAME.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF,

Jyl,
If you're Catholic, so is Brandi!! Ask your priest if he could do a special blessing of the sick, if he's as understanding as Father Breen then he will accommodate you. All you have to do is ask him!
Good luck, let me know what happens...

I am Catholic also and strongly believe that "all dogs (and other animals) go to heaven." I am not aware of anything in the Bible that says otherwise.

Just look into the eyes of a dog, cat, or guinea pigs and you will see that they have souls.

My priest agrees and think of St. Francis. Why would there be a Saint for things that have no souls?

Someone told me that the Bible states something like "The Lion and the Lamb will lay down together in Heaven..." I don't see why God would give us these great friends here just to take them away from us forever. I know I would be pretty bumbed out if I went to Heaven and Simba wasn't there. I would be like losing him all over again and Heaven is supposed to be a very happy place... isn't it?

Indeed, we will all meet in Heaven one day, and all of our Earthly pain and suffering will be gone. We will be with our beloved pets again someday. biggrin.gif

Indeed animals DO go to Heaven biggrin.gif ! There is alot of (misguided) info. out there, since the Bible doesn't address it directly and matter of fact like it does with humans. Here are a few parts of it that speak for themselves (in my opinion) and may make you feel better. So many people argue that pets don't go to Heaven because they don't have souls. If they read the Bible they would see that it CLEARLY states that they do. This part is referring to the ark, so you know it is referring to animals specifically...

Genesis 9: 3-16
Thus also said God to Noah, and to his sons with him, behold, I establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you;And with every living soul that is with you, as well in all birds as in cattle and beasts of the earth, that are come forth out of the ark,I will establish my covenant with you, and all flesh shall be no more destroyed with the waters of a flood,And God said: This is the sign of the covenant which I give between me and you, and to every living soul that is with you, for perpetual generations. And I will remember my covenant with you, and with every living soul that beareth flesh: and there shall no more be waters of a flood to destroy all flesh. And the rainbow shall be in the clouds, and I shall see it, and shall remember the everlasting covenant that was made between God and every living soul of all flesh which is upon the earth."

This is the part I believe Simba's daddy is refering to...

Isaiah 11: 6-8
The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, and the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest.

This clearly describes a harmonius state with animals in Heaven. It is ignorant for people to say that since salvation for animals is not stated in the Bible that this means they don't go to Heaven. It isn't covered in the Bible because A ) the Bible is written for man only, as we are the only living things capable of sin, and B ) animals can't read, so it wouldn't really do much good if even if they did need salvation rolleyes.gif !

Here is one of my favorite articles about it. No one can prove it, I guess, but he has some pretty neat views on it!http://www.emmitsburg.net/tumc/pastor_wade/2005/pets.htm

St Francis of ^^isi is mine and Precious' patron saint and he is proof that all animals have souls and do go to heaven...that's one of the reasons why I chose him! I have three statues in my yard in different places, even a birdfeeder! He has done so much for me and my "son".

One more thing. Many Catholic Churches have a day where they bless animals. People bring all sorts of pets, goldfish, goats, hamsters, dogs, cats, pigs, etc. Why would anyone think it necessary to bless some souless object? That would be kind of like blessing a chair.

Another bit of "proof" is that many people have had real signs from their pets after they have p^^ed away. This could not happen if pets were souless. Also, to me, it almost goes without saying that anything capable of love must have a soul.

I would also like to add for those who believe in mediums (which I do) such as John Edward, Van Pragh, etc., that they have actually seen/had contact with peoples furkids on the other side! That alone is proof enough for me!

All animals go to heaven. They are God's creatures, and it was US who got kicked out of the Garden of Eden, not the animals. I am not trying to be a wise acher here, I know of nothing in the bible that says otherwise

There is a newer book that deals with this, called "There is Eternal Life for Animals", by Niki Behrikis Shanahan, as well as at least a couple of others which you could find on Amazon.com or other bookselling websites. Niki's website also has a section where you can submit prayers for animals still here and she will respond to you personally. She also has a new book, for those who like formal prayer, called "Animal Prayer Guide".

Another couple of sites to check out are:
www.all-creatures.org/discuss/thespirit.html
www.all-creatures.org/index.html......just look for the appropriate sections on Biblical discussions.

I believe with all of my heart that I will see my babies again if I am blessed enough to get to heaven. How could creatures with such pure and loving souls go anywhere else????

I agree with Furkidlet's Mom also. I requested prayers for Dugan from the Eternal Animals website and communicated with Niki Behrikis Shanahan a few times myself. She has an Emergency Prayer for sick animals as well that I found very comforting.
