This is day 3 since Pepe went to sleep. The other cats have been a little bit more affectionate and less playful, but I didn't even think about the 2 pugs we have. they are usually so happy to see some body come home but today neither one came off the sofa when I came in. I tried to get them excited but they just wont. Molly, the female pug looks so sad and wont even lift her head....I swear she has tears in her eyes. Could it be that they finally realize that Pepe isnt coming home? I just came in from the balcony where Pepe liked to stay durring the day (kitty door) and every animal...all 5 of them are there and wont come in....its almoast like they are having their own memorial....even one of the cats that never liked the male dog came up to him and rubbed her head against him.

I'm 100% sure they DO have angel souls

We all miss you and carry you in our hearts Pepe, and I'm doing everything I can to try to get to heaven to be with you....

Pepe's Daddy - I know for sure that animals grieve. When our Scooter passed, our 3 other cats looked for him that day and night. They looked in all his favorite places to hide. One cat, Boo, the one Scooter grew up with, would just run across the floor to try and get Scooter to come out and play. Boo would even cry and carry on with a toy mouse in his mouth and would put the mouse in the middle of the floor, hoping Scooter would come out and play with it. Then all 3 cats would lay together and look out over our garden, which Scooter loved to do. They would usually sleep in different parts of the house, but they have taken to being close together lately. Animals do grieve, and I believe they do have Angel souls also.
We will see our beloved pets again.
Your pain and loss are so new. Our pets remain in our hearts forever. It hurts so bad, I know that. Please keep coming here and writing, it does help, and again, I am so sorry for your loss of Pepe.

For us it is day two since Oscar passed.
Our little gal, Jasmine has reacted totally different. While Oscar was here she stayed close to him and sensed he wasn't well. She was very quiet and followed him keeping an eye on him. The day we left with Oscar and came home alone, she looked for him and stayed in one spot most of the day. All of a sudden yesterday she started barking at something outside. She has started playing again, being noisy, and wanting our attention. It's almost like she knows he is in a better place and is rejoicing for him. I hadn't realized how quiet she had become until she started making noise again.
I think we all started mourning before he ever left, because we all knew it was coming. I think Oscar came to her . They say animals can sense the spirit world. We put up a cross last night, and some flowers. I have spent part of the day looking through albums for pics to put a little one together of Oscar.
I know how difficult these days are and my thoughs are with you Nina
