Saturday my wife and I had to make the very painful decision to let our granny cat to pass on. Her name was Marvel and she had been a part of our family since she was found a few weeks old abandoned in a parking lot. She loved to play fetch, which I believe was unusual for a cat. She also loved to lick the apple core after I had just finished the apple. In fact she insisted on it. She loved bushwacking our other cat Shadow after Shadow had just finished using the litter box. Ironically we just lost Shadow, 18 years old, last year at this time. Marvel was an orange tabby with a beautiful white bib and white paws. Until five years ago or so she was so full of life. Her kidneys began to fail on her and this last year she was having trouble keeping her food down and had a bladder infection. The infection was treated twice with antibiotics but it would keep returning. Apparently her imune system was not work for her well. She also had been deaf for the last 5 years and shown signs of some senility. I know the decision to help her pass on was the correct thing to do but it still hurts to know she won't be home waiting for us when we get home from work. Marvel lived up to her name and we are so glad she was part of our family these last 20 plus years.
