I haven't posted/replied to anything in a while....I haven't gone anywhere, I still check in here daily, I've just been having a really hard time with my own grief lately and just haven't had the mental strength...I'm sure everyone understands that. I came across this beautiful poem that I wanted to share. It is a real tear jerker for me because it speaks so well how I feel about my girl...
I Loved you Best
So this is where we part, My Friend
and you'll run on, around the bend.
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find
I will go on, I'll find the strength
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought
will remember well all you've taught.
Your Place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best

I also wanted to share that my local animal shelter has been raising money for years to try to build a new shelter and they have finally reached their goal! In order to stock the new shelter with much needed supplies, they have been selling bricks that will be used in the construction and you can choose to have them engraved. I bought the largest one they offered (8"x8") and on it will read:
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
...........SASHA............
I AM FOREVER CHANGED
HAVING KNOWN HER,
LOVED HER,LOST HER
It means a lot to me to be able to do that there since that is the very shelter where I adopted her from back in 1988...gives me some strange sense of peace...

Kim

It gets a little easier...or a little less awful...as time passes, but there are good days & bad days. I love that poem. That's how I feel too...

QUOTE
It gets a little easier...or a little less awful...as time passes
I keep hoping so, but after almost 2 years, I am starting to lose hope

.
QUOTE
there are good days & bad days
Even my good days aren't so good....I don't think my days will ever be
truly good until I am with my girl again

. I knew I would miss her deeply when she was gone, but I never knew sadness like this even existed....

What a wonderful poem. Sitting at my desk with tears in my eyes.

Thank you so much for posting this poem. I lost my sweet baby Emily on May 6th of this year from crf . I put this poem with a pic of us together and me giving her Mommy kisses in an 8 x 10 pic frame and although I still cry when I read it, it means the world to me having this poem with a pic of me and my baby together.
Thanks again..
