It has been three weeks since we lost our cat Peewee. He was a beautiful Maine coon black and gray. He kept his house and his other cats and me very safe. He had his own cat house that he would sit in and look out over his domain. It is very empty now. At first I couldn't even be around it. But now I can be there to remember the fearless lion cat who ruled here. A friend suggested I name it Peewee's house. I think I will do that.
Peewee was the last to join my cat family. He had never been around other cats before. So he stayed in a bedroom underneath the bed for about 2 weeks. My cat Cuddles burst in there one day and went under the bed with him. I peaked underneath and they were just hanging there. It was a joy to witness their first meeting each other and becoming friends and brothers. before I knew it they were playing with each other all over the house. One day I came home and all four of my cats were in my large walk in closet upstairs. They wouldn't come out all day. I checked on them and they all just looked at me like "you don't belong here your not a cat". I looked at Peewee very proud that he was king of his new cat clan. He came to live with us in the late fall and was strickly a house cat who had never been out at all. All my other cats were outdoor cats. When spring came around we were all out in the yard. Peewee would watch us from the back slider. Then I started to leave the screen open and he would poke his noise out. Then after a few weeks he would venture on to the deck. But I had to leave the screen door open so he could run in if he felt affraid. Then he started go into my garden and say there for a while. And before I knew it he was exploring the whole backyard with his brother Cuddles. I have trees in the back of the yard and part of the other yard had a mini forest on it that they could access. One day I called them into eat and they both come running in and Peewee is just talking up a storm and ran right too me and he was telling me all about the adventures in the woods that he and Cuddles had. He was soo happy.
Cuddles my other male cat was Peewee's brother and best friend. They were close in age and were instant pals when they met. They were insepereable and created kitty forts both inside and outside the house. Cuddles seems quite lonely now. But he still plays outside and sometimes I swear it is like another is playing with him still. Probably Peewee come back to say I am still here Cuddles and I am still your friend.
Tigger is the very strong independent vocal orange tabby little girl. She was half Peewee's size but was unafraid of him and let him know on several occasions. I would hear him whining and running from her. But thru the seven years together they came to respect each other.
Precious is the oldest cat and the matriarch of the bunch. She is quite beautiful and graceful and knows it and will always remind everyone of this. She would just hiss and Peewee would leave her alone. One time a tomcat came into the yard and attached Precious and Peewee went after him. So I know she always felt quite protected by him.
He was a jovial giant lovable cat who always had to be on the go doing something. He would get me out of bed with his moans. How I miss that.
He was also a prankster and loved to play with all of his toys. I don't when I will stop crying. I know he is in a better place but I wish he were still here with us.
but he was suffering so. I read the orange kitty story and that seems to be helping me to let him go.
I am so glad I found this site. A special thank you to Denise and Muffins for moving my first posts.
Blessings to all
