Since Daddy Cat died, my wife and I have both been volunteering with a local rescue and adoption group called Goliath and Bebe's World. We've been helping Saturdays with cat adoptions and in the past few months we have found homes for more than 50 deserving cats. I encourage anyone who has lost a furkid to volunteer at a rescue group in their honor. It is one of the most rewarding things you could ever do. Here is a picture of my wife Karen holding a kitten we had just found a forever home for last weekend.

Thanks for your wonderful volunteer work. I think that is great.

Last weekend I finally got up the nerve to go to the Cat Sanctuary not too far from me and I agreed to adopt Eli. He is only nine months old but they have been tough ones. He was hit by a car and one of his back legs never set correctly so he will have a permanent limp. He has an incredibly wonderful personality but people have not wanted him because of his leg. We fell in love with him instantly and I can not wait for him to get his last check up and x-rays so he can come home.

I have enjoyed your posts. Thanks for everything.

Bless your heart for taking a 'less than perfect' cat in. Most of our 8 were not wanted because of some perceived flaw. I think you will find that their so-called flaws are simple limitations they work around. Whether it is age, a limp, blindness, or whatever, they can become loved members of a family if people just give them a chance. You did that. Yea!!!! Let us know how things are going from time to time with your new furball. smile.gif

All the best,
Ken

Helping out those cats is so awesome. The wife and I really want to open some kind of facility for orphaned and unwanted cats. A sactuary for them to be cats. I think a lot of cats are needlessly killed because no-one cared enough to either prevent their birth in the first place, or they are so cold hearted that once they have them they find out they don't want them and discard them.

Breaks my heart to go to places and see the sad look in some of their eyes, almost like they know they are on borrowed time. So pointless. Every cat adopted makes a difference. If we had our way, we would adopt them all. Since we don't want to end up on the evening news as cat hoarders we don't. HAHA.

My wife just brought home our 4th cat. 6 week old Calico. So cute she's disgusting. My mother in law took home her brother that has a deformed leg. The mother cat was treating him badly as a result of it. She is new to adopting cats so she is in for a treat. She named him Forest, since the previous owners called him Gump. Very cute too, black and white.

Yeah, keep up the good work, Daddy Cat is proud of ya.

Ken,
Keep up the good work. No other tribute to Daddy Cat could be as fitting. My beloved PK came from a shelter. May God bless you and your work.
