Hi I'm new here. My family and I found out yesterday that our beloved Golden Retreiver, Murdock, had liver cancer. He was only showing any signs for the fist time this past Sunday. We are utterly devestated bc today we had to have him put to sleep. My daughter and I have cried nonstop all day long. My father and mother and sister have called me all day long, crying as well. We can not believe how sad we feel. We have lost our Purty Murdy. We have several other dogs aside from Murdy, but it's still hard losing him. I have squeezed and loved on them all day long. I truly can't stand this. I can hardly get out of the bed. Please tell me it gets easier soon. The hurt is big.

I'm so sorry for your loss.last year my family had to say good bye to our friend of 17 years because of kidney failure and old age. there is not a day that goes by that we don't miss him. I can assure you that the pain does get easier, and you will be able to smile at all the memories you have of him. I am also going through a tragedy of my own when 3 days ago, i lost my first baby. Fred was the first ever pet that i solely owned. an unforseen tragedy took him away when he fell in our pool and drowned. please know that it will get better and that my family and i are keeping you in our prayers.

I'm so sorry about the loss of Murdock!! sad.gif What a heartbreaking time you are going through.

You are a special Mom, I can tell. And Murdock knew this, and still knows this. smile.gif He's in a realm of bliss now, where there is no physical or emotional pain. wub.gif He doesn't "feel" the pain of separation as you do. You'll be together again! And in the meantime, things do get easier for those of us who've lost a beloved furchild. I think we can all attest to that.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Do whatever you need to do to get through this. When I lost my Little Girl, I stayed pretty much in bed, with my computer on this site, or watching movies. You will heal.

I hope you keep in touch here. Let us know how you're doing. Love,

Kathy

It's really, really hard. I hope that you heal more quickly than me. People tell me to remember how luck my buddy was to have me and I was to have him. I think that the people and pets on this site definitely were the lucky ones. At least I keep telling myself that.

I am really sorry for the loss of of Murdock. It sounds as if he was loved very much. I know how hard it is to part with a super-special friend.

One thing that has helped me is to collect all of the many photos I have of Sidney and make a photo album. I also bought a nice leather bound book and my wife and I are in the process of writing down every single memory that we have of him. The memories tend to get fewer and fuzzier with age, so atleast we can have a little refresher from time to time.

Good luck, and sorry once again.
