Hi everyone, you have all been so supportive to me since I lost my Sasha 11 days ago. Im still heartbroken, but I find I take each day as it comes, some good some very bad.
I read everyones posting but dont tend to leave messages as I am struggling with my own grief at the moment. Hugs and prayers are sent to you all as I read all the postings.

Please may I ask your advice again. Im worried about my 9 month old retriever Sandy shes not eating I think shes missing Sasha but im not sure how to deal with this. Its really upsetting me.
Any advice would be very helpful. She will still take bits of food of me but wont eat her breakfast or dinner at the moment. Its only been about 3 days now, but I have this dread of going back to the vets office so if we can get through this alone it would be better for me.

Many thanks
Tracy

Tracy,
I appreciate your messages to me. Please don't think I'm ignoring you, your story just hits a little too close to home for me and I needed to get it together before I responded. Please don't feel like you have personally caused me pain, it isn't like that, it's just that sometimes there are certain things in someones story (the ones in yours are obvious) that bring back a flood of emotions, but all the tears I shed are healing tears, so it isn't necesarrily a bad thing.

When it comes to Sandy, that can be a touchy subject. My instincts tell me that she is simply trying to adjust to Sasha being gone, but I would certainly hate for there to be an underlying illness that was ignored due to assumptions. Sandy is a young dog, but sometimes stress can expose underlying illnesses, and I would feel better if you had her see a vet just to be sure. I know you don't want to, but it could be important for Sandy's health. If you are really traumatized by the thought of going to the vet, and don't have someone else who can take her for you, maybe you could sit on it for just a couple of more days to see if she improves. Maybe try feeding her something more yummy like boiled chicken and rice or something? I can't imagine the chances are very high that she is actually ill( I'm assuming she has had all of her shots and preventative care?), but better safe than sorry. I wouldn't wait too long if it were me, but then again I'm a little on the &%^ side when it comes to my furkids blink.gif !

Let us know what happens....

Your friend in grief,
Kim

P.S.~I would love to see a pic of your girl if you have one you can post!

Just to let you know ive been to the vets. Couldnt stop crying, anyway he said that Sandy was fretting and he gave me some advice. He said she has lost weight and may still lose weight but not to pamper her too much ie changing her diet all the time.
Will close this message down now as I shouldnt have posted this really, feeling a bit silly. I am still hurting over losing Sasha and I thought I was going to lose Sandy as well.
God bless

Tracy,

Don't feel silly about fretting over Sandy. When you're greiving you tend to worry more than you might otherwise. Especially about your remaining furries. Lots of folks stop by here to ask their "silly" questions because they know everyone else here understands how they feel and what they're going through. Besides, it's better to get these things out and resolved than carry them around with us and let them add to the already difficult time we're having dealing with our loss.

I hope that makes sense.
Tim
