I thought that perhaps remembering some of the silly, funny or happy memories of our beloved pets could help a bit...so please feel free to post one. I'd love to get know everyone here better, as well as the pets that brought you wonderful people such joy! smile.gif

Anyone here happen to know of those little laser lights you can purchase at the petstore? Well this was Puffs all time favorite toy. She could hear me pick it up from OUTSIDE. I knew that if i touched it, puff would be there instantly... I could entertain her for hours with that thing. She had a move that we nicknamed "The Puffle Shuffle"...sorta hard to explain but she would pounce on the laser light from side to side so fast we could barely see her. Her little paws flapping against the hardwood floor.

Makes me smile just thinking about it

One of the best memories I have of my beloved Zipper is.........One beautiful summer day after doggie daddy and I had only been married a short time, doggie daddy let the dogs out. Now you have to understand that Zip was used to being the man in my life and always getting his way, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Ok, well the dogs were outside, and Zip gave his signal that he wanted in. The old scratch on the back door, and his beloved "say please" beg that he could do. Doggie daddy ignored him and told him thru the screen in the door to stay outside. Well, Zip being the bratty spoiled Zip that he was, backed up and took a flying leap THRU THE SCREEN IN THE DOOR. And looked at the doggie daddy like...HEY I TOLD YOU I WANTED IN!! tongue.gif It was so funny to me! Zip was a very smart dog. With human like intelligence, too smart for his own good!! That is just one of the many favorite memories I have. Thanks for starting this topic, I hope to see more people reply to it!!----Zippers Momma

I can so picture that...oh my gosh thats funny! "HEY I TOLD YOU I WANTED IN!" oh wow...thank you for that smile.gif I'd have loved to have seen the look on your husbands face...

that reminded me that Puff seemed to have a problem recognizing glass doors...We have a TV stand with small glass doors at the bottom covering the DVD player and VCR. When we were watching a DVD we had to leave the doors open. Sure enough, everytime Puff came into the room, she would hit them face first...sometimes at full speed! She never hurt herself, they are too flimsy to hurt...but she would stare at them afterward like she was mad at them for getting in her way smile.gif
DJ - Edgar, Jesse, Tom's Mom
I used to make little balls of tin foil with the shiny side out. Edgar would sit and growl if I held them up and rotated them. He'd get so worked up he'd bark (he was a cat and only ever met one dog).

Jesse used to lick everyone's head - he'd lick and lick and lick until their hair was a wet sopping mess - it was totally gross.
chloe'smom
I think that this is a wonderful idea. This is an arena that we can share our grief as well as our happiest memories...the things that made us laugh, and warmed our hearts.
I have a few that jump to the fore-front with Chloe.
When she first came home she was so energetic. She constantly wanted your hands on her at all times. When you would lay down on the floor, as a pup, she would absolutely love digging in your hair. I would be laughing so hard, and it seemed to just egg her on. I am sure that is where her love of digging started. Not so pretty in the mud though. smile.gif
During the first 6 weeks she was with us, somone was with her 24 hours a day. She always knew I was her momma though. When I would finally come home from work after a long day with my feet hurting so bad, and just want to lay on the couch for a half-hour to recharge, there she was. "Momma where've you been...i've been wanting to play...lets go throw the ball....maybe we can go for a walk by the lake....or for a car-ride....." Then she would plop herself down right in front of my face as I was trying to relax on the couch, and commence to bark.....and bark......and bark.....and bark, etc. It was funny, it wasn't excessive, but probably one bark evey 30 seconds. Like she had the patience to wait for me to respond in between. As much as I wanted to relax, she couldn't let me, and before I knew it I was down there petting her and planning the rest of our evening together.
Bath time was soooo much fun. She acted like she was being scolded when I put her in the tub, and tolerated it when she was sudsed-up and rinsed off. It was the point when you lifted her out of the tub that you had a real battle. She would have loved it if I would have let her run naked(without a collar)through-out the house. But I always quarantined her in the bathroom until I could towel dry her so that she wasnt still dripping wet. Post-bath and post-towel drying she was a MANIAC. She would run all around the house barking and growling and grunting, and rolling on the carpet(an attempt to get the good smell back that I had taken from her during the bath). She was so frisky and energetic.
I am so happy that you suggested this topic Nyte. I hope others will add to this wonderul memorial. Thank You.

MissingGiz
One of the many funny things Little Gizmo did was when he was outside and needed to go number 2 he would growl and bark. I would laugh and tell him he didnt need to gather an audience. He also loved to have socks rolled into a ball and he would shake them and pull on them with mouth while his paws held them to the ground till he got them apart. Its funny but our pets are every bit as individual as are we.
Vernie's Mom
Great idea for a topic!

My fondest memory of Vernie will be her ability to fetch a ball, just as good as any dog ever could. In fact, she was a local television celebrity for awhile because of it. They were doing a feature on cat tricks and said that when they went to the homes of the people who called in, the animal would be too scared to perform, so they appealed to the viewing public for pets that didn't have issues with strangers. Well I knew Vernie would fetch for her worst enemy if they had her favorite ball, so I called in. The camera crew showed up and she fetched them all ragged!! I have the video of her "appearance" and will cherish it forever and a day. She was the ONLY pet on the show to perform. She was truly a kitty star and had her own 15 minutes of kitty fame .....
Tracey
What a great topic..Thanks

Like all of you I have many favorite stories of Megan..some of them not so funny when they happened but now make me laugh. Meg had been playing in the mud so naturally she needed a bath and got into her head that she did not need to be the only one who got wet. Not only was I soaked but my bathroom as well. Meg however did not stop at the bathroom. She escaped and ran into my bedroom, up onto my bed and proceeded to rub all over my bed. She was on her back. legs in the air and doing that doogy dance with a look of pure joy and a little evil. It was as if she was saying "that'll teach you for bathing me" To this day I'm not sure why she did that, she was a golden retriever who loved the water smile.gif

THANK YOU NYTE!!!!! THIS IS THE PERFECT PLACE FOR SUCH A TOPIC; I am sincerely happy that you suggested it wub.gif
I've read through all who have shared so far & THANK YOU for putting a smile on my face...
Ernie-Bird & I (& Ben), we all shared sooooo many..

There are two that stick in my mind....
#1: Her bathroom "trick"...

She LOVED (X 10 trillion) water out of the bathroom faucet --- more than anything.
I don't even know when she started doing this -- it was later in life; I'm not sure if it'll really "sound funny", I think you had to "be there"....But, it was so special....

The bathroon is on the left, when you leave our bedroom -- and, on the right, coming out of the living room.....

If "the girl" was not around, one could be sure she was sitting on top of the toilet seat lid..
I'd walk by, and look out of the corner of my eye ----- YEP, SHE WAS THERE (AND WAITING FOR SOMEONE "TO DO IT"!!)

Out loud, I'd say, "there you are my beautiful girl!!!" & I'd proceed into the bathroom. If the light was off, I turned it on.

We were both SO SERIOUS.....I CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH....

I HAD TO WIPE OFF THE SINK, "JUST IN CASE" any water was on there (she might slip).
But, that was part of the game.
I'd say, "let me get some toilet paper to wipe of the sink"; our eyes never leaving one another's.......

THEN IT WAS TIME........ I looked at her & said, "ARE YOU READY GIRL"?????? Her eyes would widen so big..... She was ready to prance..... AND,..... UP ON THE SINK SHE JUMPED....

Then, I'd turn on the water (oh yeah, first I had to wipe out the sink - it was clean; just had to dry it).....

She hop right into the sink & start lapping away. You'd have to stay with her a bit...
Really, it was so funny; she was so serious (as was I).
OF COURSE BEN SAID, "I DON'T HAVE TO WIPE THE SINK OFF, SHE JUST GOES UP THERE".. Well, it was a VERY SERIOUS GAME FOR MY ERNIE & I wub.gif (Pardon us, ha-ha!!!)

ONE MORE SPECIAL ONE (OUT OF TONS), BUT, when you bring a new kitty into your home, initially, and, for a very short time, the human owns the kitty........Then, it's the kitty who owns the human - at least, that's how it ALWAYS was in my life with kitty cats.....
Sometimes, when I wanted to love my Ernie, she'd be doing her own thing.... I never wanted to disturb her, but I knew how I could get her attention.
klkm (Lucy just typed those letters...) biggrin.gif (I couldn't delete them) She's one of two furbabies we rescued from the shelter on 3/6/2004.......

No matter where I was (in the house), I just needed to cover my face, sometimes when I woke up in the AM, I'd just cover my face with our comfortor--(towel, blanket, etc...) & then (in sort of baby talk (but it was 'Ernie talk') ) and, I'd medium yell out "Eere Hee"..... (That is what it sounded like - there is no accurate spelling for what I blurted out).... Ben used to say, "Hershey", that's what he thought it sounded like, but, that was far from it.

After about two "Eere Hee's", Ben would start laughing & softly say...."she's on her way"...

I could hear her "Ernie-Bird" response ( a little "Brrrreww)....& then she'd jump to wherever I was.....

It was like a "hide & go seek game"; she'd put her beautiful lil' head under the towel or blanket & then, it was as if she was saying & she felt, "I FOUND MOM"!!!! Like, everything's all right now....I found mommy..she's okay....

She'd purr like crazy, as if to say, "mommy, I found you.....you're okay; you're not lost" IT WAS THE CUTEST EVER & JUST WRITING OUT THIS MAKES ME LAUGH, but also, it makes me miss my darling girl!!!!

She loved finding me...saving me.... Then, I had my girl & I could show her all the love I had for her....
Ben, he couldn't DO IT RIGHT.... It was just "our thing"... He loved her so very much - we both miss our daughter!!
I love you Ernestine...you're the "bestest girl" there ever was, and I thank you SOOOO MUCH for spending all of your life with me... I will always love you bird!!!!!!!

Love, Mommy xoxoxox AFFA!!
Libertybelle
such sweet stories here!
Delilah was not the most graceful animal. And as she got older and her joints bothered her more, she gave up trying to jump on the bed. Oh she could still manage the sofa, but that was lower than the bed. I can't count how many times she'd make several attempts to jump on the bed - she'd give a leap, fall down and try again. It was funny, but sad because I know she really wanted to be able to do that again. We'd lift her up and she was strictly an "on top of the covers" dog. She'd circle a few times near our feet, then BAM, down she'd go like a sack of potatoes. And she would not move (whether you wanted to turn over or not) until she was darned good and ready lol.
She also would come racing in to the kitchen if you were (or if she THOUGHT you were) making something to eat. She run, hit the tile floor and slide the rest of the way. Same thing when it was icy outside, she'd come home from a rare walk, run to the bottom step, then slide lol. Silly ungraceful doggie!
She also would lick you from head to toe, if she was in the mood and you'd allow her. She once licked my arm for a good five minutes, I turned it this way and that and she kept on going, lol, so goofy. She liked to lick her human daddy's hair and inside his ears in the morning when he got out of the shower. He also had the ability to "talk" to her. He'd make these whining noises at her and she'd answer back, it was hilarious. And he'd change the tone and so would she!
She was also sweet to look at when she'd chew her rawhide shoe - she'd lay on her back with it between her paws and chew on it, she looked like a little puppy, so playful. Another fun thing to watch was when she wanted to play with Teddy. She'd come up in front of him and (we called it "doinking" him) she'd bang her muzzle in to his chest (doink him! lol) and keep it up until he'd respond. Sometimes he'd growl and she'd go away, but most times, he'd join in and they'd roll around chewing each others ears (mostly he'd chew hers, she'd just turn her head sideways and allow him to be the dominant one)
She had this habit of looking at you over her shoulder, it was the funniest thing.
So many memories, they're making me miss her badly again but it was nice to remember the good times with her.

I miss you P-kitty!
DJ - Edgar, Jesse, Tom's Mom
I used to work night shifts. I would come home at 8:30 am, and go to bed. Every morning, without fail, Jesse would get up on the bed, lay beside me with his back up against my chest and his face on my outstretched arm. And he would sleep with me.

If I slept 8 hours, he would not move. If I slept all day he would not move. He didn't eat, use the litter, or drink unless I got up first. He refused to leave my side.

I would often wake up and find that I had both my arms around him like the big 21 lb orange pillow he was smile.gif

My heart hurts just to remember but then I say to myself - this love is worth remembering. This dedication and feeling of total adoration, that I so miss, isn't really gone - Jesse will love me forever. And I will love him forever too. He wasn't my cat - he was my little orange boy.

I hope I live the rest of my life in a way that is worthy of his love.
SJ J & S
We have a gas fire that’s like a coal fire and Jude and Sadie would sit and lay in front of the fire for hours.
Jude would get as close as she could and would actually be crying from the pain of burning ohmy.gif – but would not move away from the fire.
Happy memories

Hi Everyone,
I hope everybody is doing okay, as well as can be expected anyway.
Mittens was my best friend, her sister was my husband's cat, but mittens was my girl.
The first thing that comes to mind about a happy memory is this. Mittens slept next to my husband at night but in the morning I would get up after my alarm went off and use the bathroom, and when I came out, Mittens would be there waiting to say good morning to me. She would be laying on my side of the bed in the "cute" position(on her tummy with her paws curled up underneath her chest) just waiting for me. I would pet her as I was getting dressed and then she would follow me out to the kitchen and sit with me while I read for a bit before going to work. I would say goodbye to her and then she would go back to the bedroom and go back and sleep next to my husband. It was hard after putting her to sleep because I would come out of the bathroom expecting her to be there waiting for me. sad.gif
She was my golden eyed beauty, and so loving. She loved to be petted and would let you pet her all day if you had the time. She would sit on my lap while I was in the living room.
Oh yes, two of her favorite things were ice cream and cheetos. If my husband was in the kitchen getting ice cream she would hear him going into the freezer and go running into the kitchen and watch and then would sit and stare at him the entire time he was eating his ice cream. Then after he finished, he would put the bowl down on the floor for her to lick it. She got really fast at licking up the ice cream before he picked the bowl back up.
And with the cheetos, man....you could open a bag of cheetos or any salty snack and she would come running from where ever she was in the house and sit right on the floor and wait. With me, she would get up on the back of the couch and practically hover over my shoulder just inches away from my left ear and wait for me to let her lick the cheetos, boy did she love them. She was so cute. Then she discovered that really good things came in crinkly bags and would come running anytime we opened chips or whatever. It was so cute. I still sometimes expect to see her come running when I open a bag of chips.
Sorry if I went on too long, but thanks for allowing me to share with all of you.
Hugs to everyone.
Love, Janice tongue.gif
