Your sweet Dusty knows deep in his heart that you would never intentionally hurt him. You are making a brave and courageous decision, although not one you want to make. I hope you made his last hours as happy as possible and that you received all the love back from him that will sustain you in the coming days and weeks when you think of him and you hurt so badly you think your heart will break. Remember his soft silky ears against your cheek. Remember his warm tongue licking your hand. Remember his breath against your ear, and his bark that he saved just for when he saw you. Those things will comfort you in the coming days.
I don't know when you have to do this, other than that it will be today, but I am thinking of you and Dusty and praying that God will make it as quick and painless for Dusty as possible and that you can bear the unbearable today.
