hi my name is sheri and my 18 yr old son's cat six died on july 19, (we called him six because he had 6 toes on his back feet) my son russell says it was because he was inbreed, but someone told me that is a breed of cat. i dont realy know but i am hueting and i think i am hurting for everyone in the house. i guess it is because i got a call from russell that morning and he said my cat is dead, i didnt believe him at first because he had told his girlfriend that her dog died and we were watching her and she didnt. so russell told me to go outside and look. i did and there he was i freaked out. you see the night before i didnt lock the screen door and six and ducktape(my other cat) got out. i dont know how it happened i think he got into some poision. my mother in law said maybe he got hit by a car i dont know dut i hope it was peaceful. i think ducktape saw what happened and she misses him even though she hissed at him all the time. i know i am ratteling on but thanks for listening sheri sad.gif

Dear Sheri,

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty, Six. Whether we lose a pet to illness or to accident, it seems we all carry a certain amount of guilt about their passing. I'm sure you didn't leave the door unlocked on purpose...please try to be gentle and forgiving with yourself.

I hope that in time you'll find comfort in all the happy memories you have of Six.

Hugs,
Kathleen

Kathleen is right- be gentle and forgiving with yourself. Sadly, accidents do happen. You have NO reason to blame yourself. You did not mean to hurt Six. I once had a cat, Buddy, who loved to escape outdoors untended. I was just lucky that nothing happened to him.

Love,
Helena
