My grandmother has Alzheimer's disease and cannot be left alone.. and so she comes to stay with my parents and I a lot.. and brings her dog.. a very large Golden lab... He's a sweet boy, who has saved my grandmothers life and home more than once. She needs this dog... He is sick.. something is very wrong... I don't know what and we can't get him to a vet until Monday. While Homer certainly doesn't and never could hold a place in my heart the same way that Freeway does, I still care about him and know my grandmother needs him very much. And he is presenting some of the same symptoms Freeway did before he was diagnosed with his tumor.. I feel like I am living it all over again, even though it's a different dog that isn't even mine... I see Freeway when I look at him.. Time has been turned back to Feb. and the pain I felt then is back... Only Freeway isn't... Feels like such a vicious cycle.

Hi, Jenn

I am so sorry to hear about Homer, but I think you shouldn't worry overly until you get him to the vet's on Monday. ALthough he may be showing the same signs as Freeway (and I totally understand what an upsetting 'heads up' that means) I know that when dogs are poorly, the symptoms are often similar...no matter how serious (or NOT) the illness might be. So let's hope for the best. I'll keep you, your grandma, and Homer in my thoughts and prayers. Until Monday, try to get some rest and take some 'time out' for yourself.
My thoughts are with you.

Mum,
Thanks for you reassurance. Homer is feeling better today. I'm wondering if maybe he just got into something he shouldn't have (his nose is always in the garbage) and something he ate made him sick. We'll take him to our vet in the morning and then he'll be heading home with my grandparents if all is well. I knew somewhere in my head that when dogs aren't well the symptoms are all pretty much the same, I just couldn't get my broken heart to agree sad.gif
Thanks again.

Hi, Jenn
SO glad to hear that Homer seems to be on the mend...but I absolutely understand why you feared the worst because of your recent loss of Freeway.
Both Homer and your grandma are lucky to have you!
I bet you didn't get much rest the last couple of days, so now that you can breath a sigh of relief about Homer, make sure you relax today...and I hope all goes well at the vet's tomorrow: if Homer is already on the mend, I've a feeling it'll all go well.
I'll keep him in my prayers and thoughts...and let us know what happens.
Take care,
Amanda x
