One week from today I put my baby Putty to sleep. It feels like yesturday. I have my good moments, but time alone, especially at night when i drive home from work, grief hits me like a ton of bricks. I would do anything to hold her in my arms, and smoother her face with kisses right now. There is nothing worse than feeling like your heart is missing a piece. My cat Bohdi has been grieving for Putty. I never thought he would, because he always acted like he didn't like her. the other day he was sitting up, and I said her name, he then put his head down and sighed. it was so sad. We both miss her so.......much!
thanks for listening.......

Hi, angel,
The grief often comes in waves. I know how overwhelming it can be, and how badly it hurts, but you will get through it.
And so will Bohdi. Animals do grieve, even for fur-siblings that they seemed not to like. After we lost Saki and Freyja, and Electra was the only one left, she would run therough the house looking for them, calling for them in this piteous wail.
I thought there was info on pet's grieving for other pets out on the resource page of the forum, but I didn't find it when I was there. If I find it elsewhere, I will pass it along.
I'll keep both of you in my thoughts.

Bohdi is grieving. Animals do feel - I get tired of hearing that we anthromophologize. Anyone who shares his/her life with an animal knows that they feel emotions.
I am sorry for your loss. I know how aware of the time you are now - "just a week ago," "just 10 days ago". That is a normal part of the grieving process. It hurts so much.
Oswald has been gone for just over a year. Every now and again, I get caught up on a wave of grief, and it feels as cuttingly hurtful as it did close to his passing. But those times are fewer and further between. I look at it as the price I am paying for having loved.
Please be good to yourself.
