Thank you all for letting me in to read your posts... On February 7th, 2004, at approximately 11:45am EST, our little "Ernie" (beautiful, DSH, double pawed calico), at age 20, was put to sleep today... I've done nothing but cry, and there's not much I can write right now, but it was comforting to read everyones entries. "Her dad & I" are eachother's "comforts" right now; I am SO GLAD to know a place like this exists so that I will be able to share--to comfort & be comforted.... Again, thank you for letting me get to know some of you and read your stories. I will write as soon as I'm able. God Bless! Denise & Ben (p.s.): to the person who wrote out the lyrics to Garth Brooks song, "The Dance"; I, as well, would not have missed any of it...

Hi Muffins
I'm so sorry for your loss of Ernie, this is definitely the place to poor your heart out and say all the things you cant say with words because of the tears.
I've been coming here for 10, 11 months now I would surely have gone mad without my friends on Lightning Strike.
The tears will keep coming for a while I'm afraid but always remember that they are healing and letting out some of the pain inside, a very important part of the grieving process.
Take care,
Love Sue

20 Years! Wow, what a long time to create special, wonderful memories. Unfortunately, it probably makes the loss all thatmuch harder as well. You have my sympathies.
Love,
Jennifer

You’re welcome. I don’t know what it is about country songs….
When I first read your post and saw “20 years” I was jealous. I only had 12 years with Trixie. But thinking a little more, I don’t think that any number of years is “enough”. You were very lucky, though, to have had so much time together.
