Jason,
Mister truly is a very beautiful cat - a real treasure!!! I am so sorry for what happened to him & hope you manage to get some answers from the vet. Take some comfort in the fact you obviously gave him a very loving home & he must have felt very loved & happy.
Hugs,
Elsie

Jason, That was a very beautiful letter to your sweet Mister. He was a very beautiful cat and he just may pay you a visit sometime. Some of us here at LS have felt our babies after they left this world. Have you heard anything from the vet yet?

Jason, Mister is absolutely gorgeous. He looks so much like our Maine Coon, Shaun. You will see from my other posting that Shaun is very ill and almost certainly has lymphoma. He is only 2 years old.
I've had (and still have) some wonderful cats, but Shaun is something else! You will know that all they have to do is look straight at you with those beautiful big Maine Coon eyes and you absolutely melt. And those furry feet! They are just stunningly beautiful cats.
My husband never had pets until we were married 3 years ago. But Shaun has just overwhelmed him - he adores that cat! Like me, he is finding it very hard to cope with the fact that we probably won't have Shaun for much longer.
I find it difficult to even look at Shaun at the moment because I'm so frightened of losing him. I wiah I knew why these things happen when our babies are so very young. As you know, Maine Coons aren't fully grown until they are 4, so Mister and Shaun are still like kits, really.
Mister knows how much you love him. You are a wonderful owner - he had an eternity of love and care in 3 years.

JULES,
I am sorry about shaun. Please tell your husband that I share it with him. I have had animals all my life and Mister floored me when he was alive and is devestating me now that he is dead.
When we got Mister we bought him at a pet store and they said he was part persion. Didn't even mention Maine Coon. We figured out quickly that he was a brown classic tabby. What an awesome breed of cat. Mister was the most affectionate loving animal I have ever been around including all of my dogs, which is very weird for a cat. Did Shaun talk a lot. Mister meowed all the time. He thought that he was a person.
There happens to be a Maine Coon Cat Show here in Denver this weekend. We are going to look at kittens. If Jenn and I feel OK about it we will get one maybe 2. I want to pay a tribute to him by getting more like him. He was such a treat. Hang in there and give him lots of love. Hopefully he turns around. If not, he can play with Mister.
Thinking of you guys and Shaun.

Dear Jason,
Mister Kitty is so handsome.Love his centerfold pic!LOL!
May I offer you some advice?I went back and read all your messages concerning his death.I have to say that I think it was something he ingested outside.I live in an area where there are many stray cats due to many unfortunate reasons and occurences. I also learned that although there are many loving people on this earth there are also some people that are so inconsiderate and hateful when it comes to animals - especially cats.I can tell you stories that would make your skin cringe.Believe it or not some people are so evil as to deliberately poison or hurt a cat because it stepped in thier garden or sits on thier doormat and leaves behind fur.
My advice is that if you get another kitten you should keep him inside where you know he will always be loved and taken good care of.Or perhaps use a harness so you know that your cat is in a secure area designated safe by you and your family.
I'm sorry to say but the world is not always kind to people much less to animals.
**I edited this message because I found out that Jason NEVER let his cat outside.I decided to leave my personal advice anyway for anyone that loves thier cat and may think they are always doing thier best by giving it some freedom outside.Just a little something to ponder before letting them go outside to play.**

Maine Coons are lovely pets - probably my favourite breed. Oswald was part Maine Coon, and he acted like a lot like one - chirruping, as friendly as a dog, not to mention he was very big. He was the most loveable cat I have ever owned and would get very depressed when we went on holidays and had a pet sitter in. The two girls that I have now are breed indeterminate, and are much more dignified than my big goofball was. They are more independent and a bit more intelligent (Maine Coon females are not as kittenish as the males, either), but I miss always being greeted at the door when I came home and the chirruping conversations.
I think if you are ready to look at kittens, it is probably time to open your hearts again. Are you getting two? One of either sex? I know when I adopt again, hopefully many years down the line, that it will probably be another male Maine Coon.
